  • "Doreen, Doreen: the question queen...": one of my fave lines of the whole film! Waits is also good in "Wristcutters". I was lucky enough to see Tomlin live in 1986!! Even have her autograph but didn't get to meet her.

  • it's struck me how obvious it is that the kid is NOWHERE NEAR the car in the collision scene

  • Holy crap... He looks like he can just strut right on the set of Reservoir Dogs with that suit on. :D

  • Tom Waits sounds just like Nick Nolte in the scene where he gets angry at Lily Tomlin the end of this video compilation.

  • I still can't believe that that is the same woman behind the voice of Ms. Frizzle :D

  • Aww, missed opportunity at 2:50...when Tomlin asks him what he's gonna order, Tom should've broken into "Eggs and Sausage."

  • I can hardly here the movie even with my volume turned all the way up ):

  • So, I am asking this again. What is the song the woman is singing at the beginning of this clip?! it's so gooooood!!!!!!! & Tom Waits has the best hair EVER and I have seen DOWN BY LAW and am gettin' it on DVD! Great movie! Check him out at the beginning of Roberto Benigni's "El Tigre De LA Neige". Touching scene, beautiful song "You Can Never Hold Back Spring".

  • loved this movie. Long but rich.

  • Someone please tell me the name of the song that lady was singing in the first clip. It was amazing!!!!!!!

  • I must say after watching this i will be delighted to see the film

  • "Gonna get you outta Downey. Gonna get you outta Downey"

  • people who lIke Mr. Waits shouls also check out the movie DOWN BY LAW, its a really nice piece of work and Roberto Benigni & Waits are so good together in that film

  • yup its on youtube too

jsut look it up and its in 11 parts

    and it excellent

  • Im glad you like it too .cheeers

  • My favorite Tom Waits line in a movie is from DEFINITELY not my favorite movie he appeared in, but it's a line I say to this day simply because it was great coming from his voice. "He's my snake! I trained him! I'm gonna eat him!"

  • Tom's singing voice was really coming out in that argument. "You're the one chippin' out mansion of love, baby!! NOT ME!!!" Hahaha TW rocks!

  • It didn't look like she hit the kid as he was so far ahead of the car...?

  • yeah she missed by like a mile

its in the trivia abouit this film...coz its always been obvious......heh heh

the kid does fall convincingly though doesnt he...future stuntman perhaps (",)

  • He's so talented in such a strange way, what would happen if he didnt have that voice? oh no...

  • Even without the voice, he would still be delightfully eccentric. :) You should listen to his first two albums, when he hadn't quite developed "that" voice yet. The songs are simpler than his later work, but still great.

  • @Twoey2E I agree. I love all of his music. He is just talented - period. No catch.

  • in my opinion Tom Waits is one of the very few mucisians who can also actully act to. and he dos it very very convincing.

  • check out the old grey whistle test ....

    Respect

  • Yeah, it's true

  • Hope you can see Ironweed and Cold Feet...Tom's best performances...

Ironweed seems to be on region 2 DVD.

COld Feet awaits you...made in the mid 80's..Tom in his prime.

  • You're very welcome. :)

  • Agreed. If you haven't already, you should watch "The Search for Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe." It's a filmed version of her one-woman Broadway show from the 80s. She plays multiple characters--some are hilarious, and some are heart-breaking, but all of them are amazing.
