  • LOVE Bobby & The DeBarge family. I met Bobby along w/ James,Randy & Mark DeBarge in 1987 when they were out promoting Bad Boys CD @ a small club... They were sooo NICE!! I talked to them for a little while, a night I will NEVER forget! RIP Bobby... the memory of meeting u will forever be in my heart!

  • This is the best and hopefully not the end of real music. It has to make a comeback.

  • I agree 6 people don't real music! R.I.P. Bobby DeBarge by the way my name is Bobby too but I'm a female.

  • 6 people dont know what real music is!!!!

  • @Mshoney720 totally agree with you, I so love this album!

  • It's good that we, Bobby's fans, got a chance to appreciate his talent for the span of time when he was singing. I don't believe he realized how blessed he was with his talent. If had realized this, maybe he would have been more careful with decisions in his life. RIP Bobby, We Miss and Love you.

  • Beautifull beautiful beautiful! I love it! Bobby's voice gives me chills all up and down my spine. I swear Switch was DA BOMB and forever will be. I love listening to them! :) It feels so good to appreciate beautiful soothing music like this. RIP Bobby! ♥

  • Sang that song, Bobby....

  • this was a true Detroit classic!!! i was in elementary when switch drop this one, but my cuzins were older listening to this teaching me about real music! Couple years later they little brothers & baby sis shitted on the world!! Love you for posting this one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yessir, EC, run this - one of my all-time fave high school joints. this here is TALENT; that gobbley-gook on the airwaves nowadays makes my head numb ... Talk about hidden treasures ... I gotta go get my chill on - mad thanks for the post, EC. Peace, peoples

  • Time is the true test of good music- and this is still good music today!!

Switch is the sure shot like an Abdul-Jabbar hook shot!!

  • THANK U!!!

  • Many thanks for this most excellent post....this brings back so many wonderful memories...SO ROMANTIC THESE MEN.....AND THIS MUSIC...AHHHHHH...

  • I am just glad that they were here and made the music that they did...

  • Switch was definitely underrated. I love their style and songs. Definitely a group that was highly overlooked. Bobby's drug problem stopped him from being a legend.

  • In high school right on magazine poster over my bed of these guys...and crushes for days....oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • Rest in peace Bobby you are missed...so sorry he died....do young!

  • This is the voice of Debarge...It is perfect! This family is truly blessed...Be sure and pick up El Debarge SecondChance CD..I think its gonna go platinum..The second chance single already has 2 grammy noms and was released Nov 30, Once again this family has the voices..Falsetto is kickin even in the next generation of Debarges. Never seen anything like it!!

  • Thank you for bringing back the REAL music!

  • I can remember hearing this as a kid and eyes welling up with tears... not so much because of what he was singing but, because of the feeling he puts into this song... utterly beautiful... I was to young to have any understanding of what he was singing about.

  • RIP BOBBY

  • Bobby DeBarge was the truth! No one can ever fill his shoes when it came to wring love songs. His brothers tried to be like him but like they say, "Often imitated but Never duplicated." Yeah feel that.

  • There is so much going vocally on at the end of this song. I dont think todays singers could even pull this off.

  • switch had a lot of good songs

  • ily bobby ♥

  • WOW!!! DIS IS ON3 OF MY FAVs!!!

  • @VintageSoundsNumber1 Don't put his personal business on the video like that. Have some respect.

  • @XxBabyGurlLovexX

I d'no ! ... Just repeating what I've read here and there ! These are facts that are made official anyways, and the mere fact of being famous makes that your life is no longer private ... and I didn't have the feeling to say somenthing really outrageous... just stating facts, that's all : everyone knows that Bobby DeBarge passed from AIDS, and there are not many ways to get AIDS ... I've always been respectful, anyways, and I've often commented "may he Rest In Peace" ,see

  • Thanx EC another Blast from my West Coast Past. Cheers

    Mr. Chip's

  • It is because of gifted artists like Bobby De that I am so grateful to have grown up in the 70s when music was real and pure and the essence of the artists could really shine through. What a voice. What a vessel. That man's voice still gives me the same chills it did in 78 ... and I savor each one. That's a rare gift he was possessed with...for real.

  • This brings back so many memories. Summers in the city, growing up on in the Hill District in Pittsburgh, PA. 5th ave High School, basketball all night and girls, girls ,girls!! Thank you Switch and Jermaine Jackson for giving us the music to the soundtrack of our youth. SWITCH FOREVER!!

  • Thank you for sharing a piece of your life and memories :)

  • that's what's up. (*:

  • This has always been my favorite switch song. We used to play this album over and over. My prayers go out to this family.Such talented and some of the most beautiful people ive ever seen. God bless them all!

  • He sound almost like El Debrage but seemed to put a little more heart into his songs...what a shame what happened to him.

  • There will never be another Bobby DeBarge. What a voice .I've never heard anyone sing like this man ,he was so talented. When I heard of all the pain and misery that he endured it made me so sad. It's a shame that he had to go so soon .I remember growing up hearing Switch - I feel this music is a part of me ... my childhood growing up.. becuase my Mom played this music all the time .. it always brings back good memories.

  • @ZadiLady THANKS, I agree with you and MusicLova84 he was an absolute "one of a kind" vocalist I love his musical efforts we are blessed to have his beautiful music and I listen to it daily. Love, joy and peace to Bobby in heaven . 02-03-12.

  • They whole story not just bobby brings you to tears. what all of them been through and continue to go through is sad and need our prayers. i grew up on switch and debarge music, and never knew they went through what they went through. they deserve to be honored for there work...bet needs to honor this family.

  • their father passed away last weekend. may they find the peace they so deserve.

  • Bobby sings beautifully within his gift, but he is crying out from the heart. He is crying without shedding a tear and many hear without understanding his pain. The cry for help is what many identify with because we live in a hurting world. God bless Bobby and how he impacted the world.

  • I'm reading these and they're moving me close to tears because of the depth of the comments and the insight by the persons who posted them. May God Bless you all.

  • Perhaps God lent Bobby to us for a little while so we could hear a true angel's voice....God bless the mother of Bobby Debarge and thankyou for sharing him with the world....

  • PinappleCimarron,

God blessed you with incredible insight! I can tell from your comment post that you are a deep thinking person with immense understanding!

    Blessing to you and yours,

  • i think the debagre family should do another cd. with all of the surviving members. el could tear this song up. whenever he gets out of jail. there has got to be a producer around thinking the same thing

  • i love this song. its beautifully done. i love this mans voice. almost angellic. what a sad waste of talent. i have been tearing up my house to find this cd

  • Have you seen unsung the tv show?

  • Has anybody read El has to do 2 years in prison.

  • I think he's getting out next month. He didn't have to do the whole two years.

  • I thought he was arrested recently.

  • Not that I know of. As far as I know, he's still in prison.

  • I been thinkin' about ya for a very long time and I can't get you out of my mind...

    I love this...

  • Man oh man!!! Bobby DeBarge!!!! I have not heard any voice like his in music. He was truly a treasure, a gem. Pure, Vulnerable, love song writing..there is nothing like it. Bobby put his heart on the line everytime he did anything musically. RIP Bobby Debarge

  • Bobby's voice was phonemonal. Earth shattering , loved it! jody also very good singer as well. feel good stuff.........switch forever.....

  • I really miss those days of real musicians and singers who had real talent, this group is a great example of such

  • This is when music was quality

  • The brother on the bottom right name is Jody Sims, and right to left,Bobby DeBarge, Eddie Fluellen, Phillip Ingram ( James Ingrams brother), Greg Williams, and Thomas DeBarge. One of the baddest self contained bands EVER!! RIP Bobby Debarge.

  • If anyone knows who the guys name in the pic on the bottom right I would greatly apprieciate it!~

  • His name is Jody Simms

  • Thanks you so much!~

  • Bobby sounds like El on this record..

  • No El Sounds Like Bobby.

  • ur absolutely right, bobby was the original

  • Right! I get mad when people just forget about Bobby and throw him to the side giving El the props first. Bobby was the oldest and the first to do it.

  • I agree. He and Bunny wrote alot of the songs that DeBarge sang, etc. Plus, everybody looked up to him for guidance, etc.

  • @MusicLova84 - To tell you the truth I thought El was Bobby they looks so much alike and sound alike as well in every way. When I learn about Bobby I was in shock and the from mother DeBarge on down sings like ANGELS to me. I love this family just as much as I love the Jacksons. I notice hw so connected they are to the Jacksons, found out the reason way, these 2 family will never be apart because Janet and James daughter will keep them together forever. These 2 families belongs together.

  • @MusicLova84 True indeed. Peep the interview where even El admits that he was initimated by his older Bobby's ability to nail a song PERFECTLY in the first take. El is good, don't get me wrong, but in terms of Bro. Bobby, as Switch sang, "There'll Never Be". Peace!

  • @MusicLova84 THANKS, I agree El is so very talented and gifted, but I believe Bobby was a beautiful big brother to him and an awesome mentor and supporter of his efforts in music. As you say Bobby was the very beginning and he was and remains phenomenol in his own musical efforts he left for us to enjoy. 02-03-12.

  • I just found out..after many yrs that song "i call your name" was not el but bobby..one of my fav songs ever..yes the whole debarge family is talented they all could sing..

  • I Tell People all the time know you music. lol

  • ur absolutely right, bobby was the orignal...he is greatly missed

  • Yes He Is

  • Classic!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song!

  • This is off of their 3rd album...cool cut!

  • Love it!!!

  • you know guy 2nd from left is james ingrams brother

  • Thanks for that info I wouldn't have ever know! That picture is awesome!~

  • Soulja Boy's music is very questionable, but he is not the only artist of today that doesn't showcase quality music.

  • i need to cop this.

  • get the hell out of here. i clearly dont know my debarge history and i thought i did. why did i think this was el debarge- im embarrassed! dont get it twisted, i still rock these tracks!

  • I'm so trying to find another song this superb group did! I might have it wrong, song title: I Love It, from the V Album 1981: Gordy Records.

    Has anyone heard it?

  • I know it's been 13 years since our angel has gone home to be with the Lord. Bobby's Last CD "It's Not over" is simply beautiful.I heard some of the songs and he still can melt my heart from up above. Don't take my love away is also a beautiful song. They were so adorable. One of my favorite Switch songs is "There will never be". Long live Switch & our friend in the sky Bobby D.

  • I LOVE SWITCH!!!!! They were soooooo underrated! It's funny how back in the day groups were UNDERRATED and now these silly ass artist are OVERRATED!!!! It's such a SHAME!!!!

  • I AGREE!!!!!!!!!

  • Lol...did you say it all or what?!

  • ay thats real talk... lol crank that soulja boy wtf that is not music... switch had real music as other 70's and 80's artists...

  • now watch me you!! what the heck is that. real music need's to come back.

  • @BLAKPEARL69 If you know where to look, IT IS. Hint: not on MTV, not on BET, not on VH-1, and definitely (for the most part) not on major radio stations. Peace.

  • @Mshoney720 You are so right...Crazy overrated...when the true artist back in the day that had the true talent weren't give their true props..

  • @Mshoney720 So So So SO True

  • I love this song. Another gem by this underrated Group!

  • another DeBarge classic

  • Man, I just love Bobby's voice. Thanks for he post.

  • you're welcome.

  • Me too! I miss him so much!

  • @missdj10 I am getting more and more confused, so did Bobby from this group go to the group DEBARGE and was he the older one that was older like Bunny like they were the 2 leaders of that group? which one is Bobby in the picture above???? thanks

  • @PAYBACKiszaB2 Bobby is the one in rear. All the way to the right in the Track suit.

  • @instanthourglassbody Thanks so much, sorry he is gone!!!! i will study more on him, I want to see UNSUNG with DeBarge will it come on again I missed it!!!!! who is that dude in the back that looks partial Indian or something, he is darker complexed than DeBarge the one in the red shirt, and bronze skin tone.

  • @PAYBACKiszaB2 The full Unsung story is on You tube. Its in several parts but its all there . Its a good story. Just search "Unsung Debarge"

  • @PAYBACKiszaB2: Youtube removed Unsung but I saw it a few days ago on dailymotion (dot) com. There's 6 parts

  • @PAYBACKiszaB2 Verify this elsewhere but I thought i heard he was James Ingram's brother. Guess that would make the "exotic" looking man just a brotha with a perm, lol.

  • @PAYBACKiszaB2 Its James Ingram's brother, Phillip Ingram

  • I remember Switch being soooooo fine back when music was music and a friend was giving a 'house party' and I took my LP (album) to the party (remember when we took our albums to parties) and they were so freakin' FINE on the album jacket that someone stole my Jacket! (album cover). Yes I was devastated but I understood.

  • I loved the albums I had. But, I really bought the albums because I loved looking at these guys! These brothas was fine, lol!

  • Especially Bobby!

  • yes yes...weak in the knees fine;0)

  • "GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!"

Paul "Kidd Funk" Hazel-Isley (on MySpace, kidfunkadelicstl) :) !

  • Thank you. I'm just bringing it back.

  • Somebody's gotta do it! Many thanks for putting up this timeless joint, EC.

  • You're welcome. Its very important to me that I do whatever I can to bring back good memories.
