  • I would have loved to have heard the outrage this song caused back in the day.

  • Ironically Sid was a big Bowie fan, and Lydon actually quite liked Pink Floyd, and I won't even mention the Utterly Butterly adverts.

  • I swear there was a cowbell in this song! ;)

  • Sid was more Nancy than Nazi.

The swastikas were just symbolism, flipping the bird to the WWII generation that was running the show back then.

  • @SlovakDJH Skinheads have anti-racist movements too, you know.

  • A great song. The song tells about how they were shocked like any all of us about the nazi atrocities.

  • so...Sid was a nazi right?

  • @icantdrawpictures go back to sleep

  • @icantdrawpictures No. The sex pistols wore swastikas and stuff for shock value. And they succeeded.

  • this was there best song ever.

  • 0:06

  • Quality !!!!!

  • "Ever get the feeling you've been cheated? Good night."

  • sid is so sexy holy fuck.

  • I like this music, nice 1000 points

  • Sid was useless.

  • @Sirscorps No he wasn’t. You can here his bass. He did exactly what he needed to do: nothing.

  • @PBANDSNOW lol....you win!

  • @Sirscorps Thank you. I wanna pony, and a dinosaur, and a time machine, and a new elmo. Lol.

  • @PBANDSNOW You'll have to settle for Elmo. I'm on disability & can't afford too much in this economy.

  • @Sirscorps This isn’t the first time this damn economy has robbed me of a dinosaur!

  • @PBANDSNOW You know as well as I know that there's no such thing, that's just crazy talk.

  • @Sirscorps If you set out to disappoint...

    ...you succeeded.

  • @PBANDSNOW I'm sorry to be the one to tell you, lol. Maybe i'll get you a time machine for Xmas.

  • @Sirscorps Haha. This is getting stupid now! But seriously, do you not believe in dinosaurs?

  • @PBANDSNOW No, I was jokin' around. They existed.

    /Kudos on the banter, btw.

  • @Sirscorps Ya, banter is fun when you have noting better to do!

  • @PBANDSNOW & while having a "few" bottles of Spotted Cow!!!

  • @Sirscorps Haha I wouldn’t know about that, i’m 15 and I live in a very right wing (terrible) household.

  • There's no doubt that you can hear Sid's bass clearly on this one. Basic, but it's there. It can be heard throughtout this gig, especially on "Bodies", when Jones' guitar lead came out. They tended to turn the bass amp down or even off for most of their US gigs and poor old Sid was usually so smacked off his tits that he didn't even realise.

  • The song is clearly ironic: Rotten goes "guess who's dead, guess who's glad...so glad" with moral rage, pointing the finger at us gawping at the horror of cheapened life - why not just kill yourself?

  • im sorry but belsen was a gas is the easiest song to play on bass. i learned it by ear. but i have disagree with everyone saying sidd couldnt play bass. he could play.. just not in the beginning. he taught himself like steve and paul. eventually he was able to hold a beat. but stilll he couldnt play on stage for alot of concerts cause he was so drugged up.

  • The song is taking the piss out of the nazis. Dont u get irony?

  • Nope, no dumb-fuck skinhead anthem here. Sorry to disappoint you, but the Sex Pistols (yes, even Sid) were polar opposites from Nazis. Although Nazis, like the Black Panthers, have a right to their opinions... The Sex Pistols wanted to shock, and that they did... jolted England and everyone else out of their happy post-hippie complacency...

  • Nope, no dumb-fuck skinhead anthem here. Sorry to disappoint you, but the Sex Pistols (yes, even Sid) were polar opposites from Nazis. Although Nazis, like the Black Panthers, have a right to their opinions...

  • @panzermiskolc wow, you totally dont get the song

  • Misinterpreted skinhead anthem like it or not. We must CLASH

  • The band looked and sounded particularly iconic there.

  • sid DID write belsen!!!

  • im pretty sure Sid wrote this song (music or lyrics, not sure, but i know he had some hand in it when he was in Flowers of Romance)

  • when the sex pistols ended real punk dies

  • i think i can actually hear some good bass from sid!!!

  • @locolew998 Yeah, me too.

  • @locolew998 I heard he sat up all night with a Ramones album, learning to play bass, and then the next morning, he could play!

  • @locolew998 if you watch the winterland concert when steves lead falls out sid is left playing the bass

  • I love sid he was a very big PUNK icon I

  • i agree i love thi song

  • `sid was a allright bass player i dont know why people say he cant play bass fucking bulshit sid could play he just messed around to much but he still played u can hear the bass playing in this whole concert just the sound mix was fucked on most of there later gigs some of the shit he did on bass looked cool and careless and pure punk thats what it was about !! there should be more bands like this in the world

  • @gungor1985 i can here his bass

  • @PBANDSNOW That's because the verb is "hear" not "here"... here is where you should learn something about expresing yourself and then learn something about punk rock history too... Syd was the punk rock generation icon even without playing a single note... if you want to hear great musician techniques you surely choose the wrong music kind... because that's not punk rock... punk rock is simple... three tones and all the rage and passion you can take from your insides

  • @MauroCanteros ur right, i just noticed i spelt it wrong, though to be perfectly honest i dont give a rats ass. I can hear his bass, please realize that that long thing you wrote literally makes no sense when it comes to what i wrote

  • SEX PISTOLS BESTE BAND TER WERELD

  • No one could inject the sheer ferociousness along with melody into music the way the Sex Pistols could, not even the heaviest of the "evil" heavy metal bands...

  • @SlovakDJH i know you wrote this a long time ago, but the Dead Kennedys could

  • @Casperthedopestghost mmm...not quite. I saw the Dead kennedys at Coffman Union at the University of Minnesota in 1983. They could be as scary as the Sex Pistols, but not quite as musically ferocious. I saw the Sex Pistols live in 1996 in Milwaukee. One of the best concerts I have ever been to.

  • easy there best song even better live pure class

  • It was 1978 ! oh dear oh dear oh dear!

  • lots of bass in this guys, just turn ur fucking ears on

  • @PBANDSNOW fucken ay ,i dig this bass line .fuck the myths

  • Long live Sid!! :D And I love you johnny!! <3

  • this movie is the last

    live USA 1979

    I wanna see more.. thanks

  • @ROGICFACTORY 1978 actually

  • Love Johnny's manic laugh.

Fuck heroes ("Join the army,Be a man, kill someone...")

  • best song they did easy

  • great band but this is just twaddle

  • Belsen was so cool! :(

  • @clementles it was funny wasn't it ;] , i'd like to pee in those .....

  • sid was more talented than what he wanted people to know, he was a great painter and he wrote many poems....he played guitar and drums before then he went on to bass so he could join the pistols. he just liked to say he was shit at everything...he even wrote this song, chords included....been reading a book abotu him recently you see

  • jimmy kimmel was too good for her!

  • Jonny fucken Rotten.

  • na na na na na na na na na, ha ha ha ha haha ha

  • so raw and angry love it

  • sex pistols r the fuking best

  • the sex tracks are originals by the charisma of rotten

  • rotten is cool

  • AWSOME!

  • WHAT A NICE MESS

  • Comment removed

  • @boffinme80 Too bad he killed his wife He loses all credibility there

  • @kitsunethefox But his wife killed him, think of that

  • You're right man. I agree with you.

  • @boffinme80 i agree with u, and i also thinks its interesting that when youtubers think of sid they attribute him to Heroin, bad bass, nancy and him being this stone cold dude. Sid was actually a kind and loving person...before nancy

  • @boffinme80 Dont forget Joe Strummer, Joey ramone, iggy pop, alice cooper. And anyways the pistols were steve, paul, wally nightengale, and malcolm. Sid and Johnny simply filled the space. Though i agree with u completly.

  • @boffinme80 You fucking rock!!!! Awesome comment!!!!

  • @boffinme80 It would have died anyways...London Calling, i love the more than any band to ever live but punk couldnt have survived such a fatal blow

  • Yet people say that Sid couldn't play bass. At first he couldn't, but here he sounds flawless. He got better with a few lessons.

  • I agree, and Sid is awesome so I'm not cutting him down, but there is a chance that he's unplugged.

  • @lokrat2

I know. But he improved for a while

  • sounds fukin great

  • Cookies face at 1:32, ha ha!!!!! Bless ya Paul!!!!

  • i would guess he wasn't as high as usual that night.

  • i,ll never listen to them again poofy cunts

  • sid is really playing for once he aint that bad its raw thats fucking mad the sound didnt have to be perfect its punk

  • aahh ha ha!

ever get the feelin' ya being cheated!

  • 1:35 lol

  • this is fucking classic song:D .. i like it.. :)

  • This song was to be recorded as their 5th single, but Lydon left the band straight after this gig and the rest,as they say,is history.........

  • where is this from

  • Winterland Ballroom, Jan 14, 1978. Last Sex Pistols concert with Sid Vicious.

  • Thank you so much for putting this video on youtube!!!

  • :O hes actually playing....

  • yeah, i read that sid wrote this song :D

  • Sid did write this song.

  • i know =)

  • one of them gave a fuck by this point cos mclaren fuked them over

  • theyr whole set sucked that day, totally uninspired but this song just killed it!best version i ever heard,i guess they were tired of playing the same old songs

  • I you cant be bothered to play the whole song. Why bother, Its not a anti jew song. Listen to the lyrics

  • no it isn't. Its satirical taking the point of views of the nazis until it tells them at the end to be a man and kill themselves.

  • Sid kicks ass in this performance...bithchin

  • Belsen was a gas, I heard the other day In the open graves where the Jews all lay "Life is fun and I wish you were here" they wrote on postcards to those held dear.

  • lol

  • johnny rotten kicks serious ass!

  • @crazyloverboy0808 finally something about another member and not just always Sid.

  • Belsen was a holiday camp,i read the brochure in Thomas Cooks,it said the views from the showerblock are breath taking ha ha

  • @JINNERMAC ur a fuckin poofter

  • best fukn song

  • technically, there's better bass players. what the fuck

  • LIFE IS FUN!

  • Sid doesnt sound unpluged to me.

  • mind blowing performance. One of the greatest moments in rock and roll history. wish I'd been there

  • I dont get it why they say this is their worst show. Dissonance is a big part of punk music, look at Black Flag.

  • because the were just standing around, and they were tired, and not very lively.

Also, they were mad that they were playing infront of a lot of people.

  • Say what you want about them but they brought back free-style bad boy Rock n Roll when it was dying.

  • You are absolutely correct!! Totally agree.........

  • everything you people say about the pistols and all rock stars is like reading one of those sick sad gossip mags...get a fuckin life..none of you know anything about them and more importantly why would you want to...get a grip!!!!

  • Yes. When they came to an overblown end I was hypnotised by the hype to a cringe-worthy degree. To admire something is not the same as hoping that it will rub off on you by obsessing over details - especially if that something is authenticity. That's a cliche I still don't really know the truth of but I've got some clues. In my own boring opinion, when they lost Glen their style lost some of it's substance. Style was an important part of them, but you need different elements sometimes.

  • i got into the pistols when i was 12-13 in 1978 when the pistols were nearly over but i knew fuck all about them apart from that bollocks was cool...i hope youre not one of them who says !i saw the pistols" lol...very very few people saw the pistols...

  • Comment removed

  • dude i didnt mean to offend you i just hear people who say they saw the pistols..i even heard a guy say he saw the pistols...hes 4 years younger than me plus hes a knob and simply didnt...why oh why??? the reason i got into punk at such an early age was that my cousin who is 4 years older got me into punk...and guess what? he really did see the pistols at some place in manchester called the electric circus i thinkhe really did do as well..he said there were not that many there...

  • Don't worry, no offence . My own issues over getting punk wrong!. I do still genuinely some of the punk bands. I think the pistols probably had a natural shelf life but it could have been handled better. What do I know though? Don't answer! It's weird, I knew kids who liked them at 11 and some thought it was over in 1978.

I think you almost either had to be so clued up that you were part of the scene, or just in the right place at the right time to have seen the pistols live.

  • i saw them! last year! hoooray!

  • I removed my 1st reply because I put lol and I wasn't really lol-ing, I find my cluelessness too depressing :) I was in a similar boat to you but believed a lot of bollocks that McLaren, Julie Burchill (who's admitted she was talking shit) said about them. I Glen Matlock not only contributed more creatively but they already had the hooligan element and didn't need Sid. That's all based on reading and tv of course. You're right just to like the music. Image is great but going on and on kills it.

  • one of my top 5 pistols songs. simple but very effective . sid played well at this gig no matter how fucked up he was (allegedly he took smack beforehand) wich made john think fuck this i,ve had enough. cos he was trying to keep sid away from that shit all through the american tour. the pistols thought this winterland show was one of the worst they,d done. but i think they sound fuckin great. watch the filth and the fury for the full story on this.

  • brilliant track brilliant band,

    sid vicious rip.

  • if sid had of got his smack he wouldnt be able to fukn see what wrong with u he wudve passed out and he didnt take smack before this gig he played the whole gig fuk u idiot BrasilNYC fukn retard

  • and btw u obviously dont understand heroin addiction. "he must of got his smack that day " wot a fucking arsehole

  • wtf is tht brasilnyc dickhead on about. so fucking wot if he couldnt wots ur problem, glen matlocxk wos a fucking faggot that went to college the pistols wouldnt sound the same with out sid he was the agressive factor . u fuckin yankee twat go fuck yourself and die cunt

  • i love all the assholes that think this is an antisemetic song. get a fucking clue, will ya.

  • personnaly i love the song

  • best !!

  • Hear

  • Love the ramones, Love the Pistols, the shite you here now ???, make your your own minds up.

You cant beat hard nasty, spitefull music. With Balls ,and thats what that was.

  • right on

  • so good

  • great performance. wish i could've seen them =(. and wow sid is actually playing bass haha

  • Yes he plays the whole concert.,give or take, Makes you wonder why that had him turned down in Dallas.

  • You can get this on Itunes

  • Steve Jones is playing killer rock and roll on this unusual song, doing head and body gyrations in sync with his flourishes on the riffs. Syd does indeed seems to be playing and he's tight with group, keeping pace with Cook; Rotten's singing brings it all together, I mean when he sings "guess whos dead" it is absolutely scabrous like hes firing nails and spikes from his throat, he really conveys the horror that song seems to be scratching at.

  • sid couldnt play? sounds like he's doing ok in this video.

  • Sid couldn't play......what's this, all of two chords? I could learn that today and be playin the gig tonight. Must be he got his smack that day. Watch the last gig at Winterland......Sid was a fuckin' toss pot. Should have never booted Matlock and maybe theyd've done another album. Fuck McLaren too......fuckin' waste of egg and sperm that sod

  • Thats wat jones said.

  • the best peformance of this song

  • agree

  • Piece of History, I think rotten had the flu. What a Message 2,

  • Great perfromance from Rotten and one of their best songs. Even more amazing - is Sid really playing bass ? If so he's doin ok.

  • FOR CHRIST SAKE.......malcom had nothin to do with Sids drug abuse...it was that whore nancy

  • Not to mention his fuckin mum

  • @straiber

bull shit, sid had been clean for a little while, and him and malcom took off and sid came back all smacked up, and johhny had, had enough, the end

  • @straiber the best part of what u just said was the irony that nancy WAS a whore

  • @straiber It was Sid. Sid's drug abuse was Sid. Plus, it doesn't even matter, his drugs. HE KICKED ASS. They all did. Lots of people do drugs and people don't go around blaming it on others. I do them. It's me. It was Sid himself. And He ROCKED

  • this is the dogs bollox, absolute brilliance, its a shame he can't perform like this now instead of advertising butter,ho dear ho dear belsen was a gas.

  • i agree

  • Nancy killed sid with her fucking heroin and ideas She was more anarchist than Sid more punk

  • fuck yes!!

  • Sid couldn't play well as heard in Dallas but Johnny Rotten wanted Sid for his bad boy image and attitude. However, if you listen to the final concert at the Wintergreen he's not so trashed and you can clearly hear him playing. It's like he finally learned the songs at the very end. Sid you did your best RIP.

  • It was called Winterland. According to Johnny, this last concert was the one and only concert during the American tour that Sid was playing under the influence of heroin. (So John said in the book Rotten). Its a good sound.

  • Comment removed

  • Do you mean that Sid was completly on drugs during the gig in San Francisco? If my brain is still working good, the only gig where Malcom MacLaren was here was in Winterland!

  • On the first page - 'One of the reasons I stayed w/ Sid on the bus during the American tour...was to keep him away from drugs...The minute we hit San Francisco, somehow or other, Sid managed to escape and get himself a whole parcel of heroin...that buggered him up. Totally. As a result, dear reader, the Winterland show was a disaster." I dont know if that meant he was completely on drugs.

As far as Malcolm being there, supposedly Malcolm was uninvolved, flew on a plane with only

  • Steve and Paul, avoided them and vice versa, tho John said Sid was angry with Malcolm and wanted to attack him on sight.

  • ok i didn't know that, and it's very interesting. I don't know if Winterland was really a disaster, it's just a strange gig, where any mumbers of the band are on their own trip. Steve sometimes stopped to play, leaving Sid alone with Paul Cook (at the end of "bodies" and on "liar") It's easy to say but we can feel that the sex pistols were not the same.

  • Yes, I agree with you. and I believe its fair to say we can never know what in John's mind made it a disaster. To me it is a great concert but one that is heavy with an ominous mystery. And that, of course is only one thing that makes it different, (though they were all different). I also read a supposed phone conversation that Sid gave a reporter a few days later in which he asked 'John wasnt too good was he?' meaning in the last concert. Thats how they saw it. Truly, it was so long ago...

  • I saw this interview too, i really don't know if it's true or not. A few days later, Johnny wanted to reform the sex pistols without Sid and Malcom MacLaren but Steve Jones refused... I supposed that Steve was influenced by Malcom at the time. Too bad. If i must keep one gig of the sex pistols, it's in San Antonio. Johnny sang with rage, Sid was out of control and Steve too. A real punk gig. I got it on LP but the sound is not very good.

  • Yes, from what I gather Steve and Paul both thought Malcolm wanted only the best for them at the time. John said that the relationship between he and Steve was horrible at that time. The division was deep. I agree with you on that with San Antonio. It does stand out. So much emotion and energy. All powers in synch :-)
