I wanted nothing more than to get a job at a place like WEHI or Garvan, and the deros that do get a job there spend their time singing and dancing! So not only are there FA jobs in research, the people that get them take them for granted! the whole system is fuked, go ahead and cut the funding, things couldn't get any worse anyway
This video does nothing to promote the cause of the Discovery for dollars campaign. Makes a mockery of it. This video had to be more serious, way to corny and cliched. Why would those in the community support the Australian medical researcher using their dollars to make such a video. If time and money wasting is what you want to promote, you got it with this vid...
If you think about it, we are saving money by not working for the few minutes it took to shoot this - us students are very cheap labour, it's the reagents and equipment that costs money
And @cclose27 this was done at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Melbourne, Australia
I hope no one was paid during the filming of this or it might be viewed as counter-productive as it's proving their point and just giving them more ammo... just saying.

@bigjetcjs1 Don't get me wrong, I like the video and I like the idea behind it. No one works at work all the time, there are lunch breaks, 15 min breaks, etc. But a full scale music video like this takes time and planning so the opposition could use that fact against them. You example is a little weak, standing around and talking to your boss for a minute doesn't compare at all to what seems an entire department making a music video.
@ancientgriffyn this video was planned after work! - in their "spare time" and it really doesnt take that long to flim a video but most of it was done in what little spare time that these researchers have!
@ancientgriffyn you should take the time to look at the video segment @ 3:27. They are at home. All of this could have been done in their spare time. That's if they have any with the 12 hours shifts that are normally worked. My comment was only weak to the shallow mind. I guess I assumed too much to think that you would have notice that the whole lab scene was winged, and they where reading off the non-memorized lines as they went. @ZZ!

Downvoted for calling Julia Gillard "Jules" and revealing your political bias. Go find another job.

Ironically, while they're protesting cuts to funding to medical research, they're also wasting funding by dancing and singing and producing a video.

@rlukaszewski because us unpaid students are wasting money by taking 30min out of our 12hr days to film something with a handheld video camera
