As someone who lives with epilepsy, I am impressed to see these two (particularly the very fine Chris Pine, no offense to Zachary Quinto) giving helpful info on how to react appropriately during a seizure. Ok, I can hug them both, no I think I just want to hug Chris. Yup, definitely Chris :-)

As an Epilepsy sufferer myself, I was strangely excited when I saw this! The type I have is pretty bad, but the control is almost 100% so I'm less talkaboutit and more laughaboutit! [Note: Not AT the condition, obviously. But you've got to find the light somewhere when you have it.] My friends are all well-versed in what to do now. I wonder if Zach and Chris would be free to do something for an Epilepsy Scotland campaign.... :)

@niaZomba No, the muscles in their mouth (Like their jaw) completely spazzes, so they could easily break their teeth if you put something in their mouth. Turning them on their side prevents the tongue swallowing.

Excellent advice. Most people do not know that you should never put anything in someone's mouth when they are having a seizure..can break their teeth..

Don't forget to loosen any tight clothing and time the seizure---if it lasts longer than five minutes, call 911.

very true, but you should call 911 anyways, regardless of the amount of time it lasts. even if they have a history of seizures.

Not necessarily. The seizure can't be stopped, and the person will return to normal when it's over. There's no need to call for help if the person has been diagnosed as epileptic. Just gotta ride it out.

true. i know that seizures cannot be stopped but if the person's seizures continue, meaning there are multiple in a row, then emergency services need to be contacted. but you are very right nonetheless. :)
