As a live-feeding snake owner, this video *is* cruel. They are feeding the snake something too large for it. The rat could hurt the snake, and the snake cannot quickly kill the rat, so they both suffer (even small mice will bite a snake while they are wrapped if the angle of the snake's bite is off). A responsable snake owner will feed it appropriatly sized prey, minimizing the suffering of the prey and the chance of harm to the snake.
@wdikolnc111 i feed him prekilled and about a rats about her width and know he its them all the time. the reason she didn't was because the person how gave him to the pet shop use to give her the rats by the tail so she was not use to fining the animal it self. i grab the rat by the rail and when she sees it in less then 2 secs it in her mouth
@123girlskateboards what did she eat before? she might be used 2 mice and therefore she might only recognize mice as prey, if not make sure its aprox same width as ur snakes body and for the snakes sake make sure the rat is dead allready and just use a tweezer and jiggle the rat in front of ur snake :)
@Lolzorpantz she eats MS rats she is pretty big shes and adult. the reason why she didnt eat before was because the old only feed her with tweezers and jiggling the rat in front of the snake like you said. i people at the pet shot told me she eat normal live pray. that way she never ate. when i decided to give try this method after a month then i realize that she didnt eat before because the old owner didnt fed her live. to somewhat summize it all up the pet store gave me wrong infermations

That is pretty awesome! I love ball pythons (got one myself). One thing though, you shouldn't feed them inside the tank. If you do you it often, the snake will suspect anything coming into the tank (your hand) it will strike. Just a pointer..

That rat is definitely a little big for that sized python. It shouldn't have taken that long for him to constrict it. A small or medium rat is OK for adult pythons, but a good rule of thumb is to feed it prey no thicker than the snake at his thickest part of the body. This is also better for digestion. A big rat like that can inflict serious damage on a snake, and I've seen it happen.
ALSO most ball pythons wont eat dead once they eat live . mine only eats live white male rats and refuses a nything else. their notoriously picky eaters. gorgeous snake by the way

A rat can gnaw a pretty good size hole in a snake if the snake grabs it by the wrong spot, which can end up being a large vet bill. It's also a less painful death for the rat. It wouldn't know what hit him! I hold the rat by the tail, and smack it with the handle of my hammer.

You should feed pre-killed rats for your pythons sake IMO. A rat that size could easily injure, even kill, your python. If it doesn't take F/T or P-K, just wiggle the rat around like it is alive. (And feeding live because you think that is how they eat in the wild is a poor excuse, captive snakes aren't wild snakes, and are subject to injuries which require veterinarian treatment - which can be extremely expensive, it comes down to how much you appreciate and care for your snake).

That is pretty awesome! I love ball pythons (got one myself). One thing though, you shouldn't feed them inside the tank. If you do you it often, the snake will suspect anything coming into the tank (your hand) it will strike. Just a pointer..

frozen is better only because it poses less threat to the snake.if the snake eats the rat it is natural and died a very normal and common way just as it would die in the wild.while if it dies of co2 gas i think that is much less humane then letting it die like its meant to.naturally.

yeah and frozen food also loses alot of vitamins through being frozen, i believe if you have a pet, whatever it is you should be able to feed it what you want !! if people dont like these videos DONT WATCH THEM ! its not as if they dont know whats going to happen when they select them!!! @gamingmedian well the place i was living at with my family the owner of the house broke in and stole it b.c when we came home it was gone and.the cage was the same as i left it and there were no trace of the snake getting out b.c i had a really strong cage

That rat is definitely a little big for that sized python. It shouldn't have taken that long for him to constrict it. A small or medium rat is OK for adult pythons, but a good rule of thumb is to feed it prey no thicker than the snake at his thickest part of the body. This is also better for digestion. A big rat like that can inflict serious damage on a snake, and I've seen it happen.

Yeah dude, smack that fucker on the back of the head with something hard and heavy, then dangle it in front of your snake. He'll grab it, think he's killing it, and then eat it. A rat can gnaw a pretty good size hole in a snake if the snake grabs it by the wrong spot, which can end up being a large vet bill. It's also a less painful death for the rat. It wouldn't know what hit him! I hold the rat by the tail, and smack it with the handle of my hammer.

You should feed pre-killed rats for your pythons sake IMO. A rat that size could easily injure, even kill, your python. If it doesn't take F/T or P-K, just wiggle the rat around like it is alive. (And feeding live because you think that is how they eat in the wild is a poor excuse, captive snakes aren't wild snakes, and are subject to injuries which require veterinarian treatment - which can be extremely expensive, it comes down to how much you appreciate and care for your snake).

This ain't animal cruelty, it's animal kindness. Yeah it can be hard to feed live prey, but some snakes get finneky and won't eat frozen and thawed.
It's not up to you really, if you can't do it; then your snake is the only one who gets punished for it.

i dont like seeing other things die. but either way... a live rat, a frozen thawed, a pre killed...... either way its a rat that is going to die. so all the cry baby's that whine about feeding live, atleast be consistant and bitch all around the board and dont just get your panties in a bunch when you see a live rat being fed. an by the way... those chicken wings and that burger were all once live animals that i am almost certain died a more horrible death than that rat did. suck on that.
