Does he ever present the Gospel in any of his messages? Or does he just come across as some guy presenting some secret knowledge/wisdom that will lead to salvation? Funny, I thought salvation was based on WHO you know, not WHAT you know. Does Joel preach about the Kingdom of Heaven or does he keep the focus on how to get the things this world chases after? Does he ever refer to the Scriptures when he talks or are his ideas all just his own? Does his teaching come from man or God?
Its sad when Christians rely on blessings and use God, when they should rely on God and use blessings. Prophets for profits make me angry. Christianity should not be SOLD as a get-rich-quick scheme. Confidence in yourself? Bible says to not have confidence in yourself but to trust God. If I didn't know what the Bible taught, I would get sucked into his ego-feeding. Hard not to love a preacher that teaches pride instead of humility.

I am not a big worshiper, but Joel Osteen is like the most amazing person in the world! I love this guy and what he stands for. He said "I think people can tell when your genuine" And thats very true. I can tell.
one thing i dont understand about church: why does it have to be so emotional? just listen to the way he's speaking. it isnt at all in a normal conversation tone, or even the way someone speaks when teaching. it always sounds like it appeals to emotions, which is the way i see evangelism operate. it always seem to prey on sadness, guilt, fear, loneliness etc. to try and get across. it sounds like he's trying to butter you into following. why does it never seem more academic or logic based?

@acevideojamiesmith that's a popular criticism of Joel, and no offense usually from people who have a bias and are looking for reasons to dislike him. faith is a gift, my friend.. one that not everyone is blessed with. the bible is full of metaphors.. some vague, and some blunt.. Joel is blessed with a voice, and the ability to help translate those metaphors in a manor so that a wider audience of people can understand them. people of faith need an acorn, and people who aren't need an oak tree.

Joel Osteen's teachings contradict the teachings of the Bible. The Bible says to serve God, and serve others, not yourself. The only thing that Joel talks about is you, you, you. Joel Osteen is wrong humans are not great, humans are sinful, and rebels against God. Job 25:6, compares man to a maggot, that is what we are, we are not great. Who is great but God alone.
@n1pbfan You are mistaken, my friend. We are great because we are children of God, the creator of all things. Yes we need to serve God and others, but that doesnt mean we are worthless. The context in Job 25 is different. Revelation 5: 10 says, "He has made us unto our God, Kings and priests, and we shall reign on earth." We are kings in the eyes of God.

He doesn't talk about sin. Joel says that Jesus died to give us a better life now, utter blasphemy, Christ died so that we may be with the Father and that we may know Him. Joel Osteen says to improve your life now, Jesus Christ told us to surrender our lives. They are in contrast, not similarity.

I've been having a discussion with a person who thinks that the koran and the bible are very similar and that all religions teach the same things and they didn't know Christ was the only way!!. Guess who they like...Joel. You see if Joel was actually doing the work of a true preacher, he would be preaching the gospel. This person would get to hear the truth, but since they listen to a false teacher like Joel they don't get to hear the truth, they remain in darkness. Sickening
It is very easy to see how people will be deceived by the anti-christ. Make people feel good, speak smooth words and nice things and you will have them in the palm of your hand. American Christians are biblically illiterate, I don't know it all by any means, but it doesn't take a scholar to disern what Joel is saying and know it's a load of dung.
How much better this world would be if we all felt this way about the bible. I have alot of years of study ahead. I am looking forward to reading and studying the Bible. It is our story beginning to end.

Its sad when Christians rely on blessings and use God, when they should rely on God and use blessings. Prophets for profits make me angry. Christianity should not be SOLD as a get-rich-quick scheme. one thing i dont understand about church: why does it have to be so emotional? just listen to the way he's speaking. it isnt at all in a normal conversation tone, or even the way someone speaks when teaching. it always sounds like it appeals to emotions, which is the way i see evangelism operate. it always seem to prey on sadness, guilt, fear, loneliness etc. to try and get across. it sounds like he's trying to butter you into following. why does it never seem more academic or logic based?

@acevideojamiesmith that's a popular criticism of Joel, and no offense usually from people who have a bias and are looking for reasons to dislike him. faith is a gift, my friend.. one that not everyone is blessed with. the bible is full of metaphors.. some vague, and some blunt.. Joel is blessed with a voice, and the ability to help translate those metaphors in a manor so that a wider audience of people can understand them. people of faith need an acorn, and people who aren't need an oak tree.

Joel Osteen's teachings contradict the teachings of the Bible. The Bible says to serve God, and serve others, not yourself. The only thing that Joel talks about is you, you, you. Joel Osteen is wrong humans are not great, humans are sinful, and rebels against God. Job 25:6, compares man to a maggot, that is what we are, we are not great. Who is great but God alone.

The context in Job 25 is different. Revelation 5: 10 says, "He has made us unto our God, Kings and priests, and we shall reign on earth." We are kings in the eyes of God.

@k0smon The fact that he has the largest "church" in America is of no importance. Read 2 Timothy 4:3, does he not always preach what people want to hear, which is the mark of a false prophet. He doesn't talk about sin. Joel says that Jesus died to give us a better life now, utter blasphemy, Christ died so that we may be with the Father and that we may know Him. Joel Osteen says to improve your life now, Jesus Christ told us to surrender our lives. They are in contrast, not similarity.

I've been having a discussion with a person who thinks that the koran and the bible are very similar and that all religions teach the same things and they didn't know Christ was the only way!!. Guess who they like...Joel. You see if Joel was actually doing the work of a true preacher, he would be preaching the gospel. This person would get to hear the truth, but since they listen to a false teacher like Joel they don't get to hear the truth, they remain in darkness. Sickening

It is very easy to see how people will be deceived by the anti-christ. Make people feel good, speak smooth words and nice things and you will have them in the palm of your hand. American Christians are biblically illiterate, I don't know it all by any means, but it doesn't take a scholar to disern what Joel is saying and know it's a load of dung.

The gospel does not only contain good news ie the N.T. has plenty to say about sin, repentance, wrath, judgment, hell as well as love, grace mecrcy, etenal life. If a person presents a "gospel" message that is only the good parts and hasn't presented al of it then it's not the gospel, it's an incomplete gospel. ALL of it must be preached. Joel does not do that. In fact he does alot of talking but seldom from scripture

@TiffanyCarey ::: Joel purposely addresses his messages to Christians. He gives an invitation to accept Christ after every sermon. You only hear the sermon, you don't hear the rest if the service in which the bible is more directly addressed. Joel is not an evangelist. Find another preacher if that is what you want.
