Do you know how difficult it is to sing in English? P.S. Miss Flemming is awesome! She has worked hard for her talent (almost had her children taken away, if memory serves).
my apologies to makesyummyfood. Agreed, Rene Fleming is a wonderful singer. The choir is spectacular. My remark was unneccessarily offensive and I apologise. Happy for it to be removed. BUT, polygamy is a Mormon value and the choir has a public relations role. Don't let spin get in the way of accountability.
Her diction is just so aweful.I am sick of her weird diction and mannerisms. And the way she sighs and ends her words is so annoying. What a waste of a God given beautiful voice. She ruined this gorgeous song.Sandi Patty would have sang it so much better.
@montsyblackmadonna Her diction might be wierd but your grammar is AWFUL. I'm sure there's a reason God has blessed us heathens with Rene's version instead of Sandi Patty's.
@maestrojimbo My grammar is not awful, thank you.Anybody can pick apart someone's postings looking for typos, and mistakes that people made late at night or when they were tired after a long day at work,...but that doesn't change the fact that Renee sounds terrible here.
@montsyblackmadonna ....so jealous, so judgemental, so un-Chrisitanlike! What's your musical background that you think you can evaluate and then insult a universally recognized talent like Ms Fleming's? Shame on you for your feeble attempt to diminish her historic achievements. By the way, God did not GIVE her that beautiful voice - she slavishly worked to EARN her place in music history.
@rumpwrestler Why should she? She's the best on the opera scene, and can sing almost every kind of music - better than the "specialists". This one was in the style of Paul Robeson - Marian Anderson - bravo, Renée!
@rumpwrestler Why shouldn't she sing music like this? She can sing nearly every kind of songs as good as the "specialists". Here, she sings in the tradition from Paul Robeson and Marian Anderson - bravo, Renée!

Nice, Renee, but stick with opera and stop the jazz and gospel stuff with the Mormons.
