  • They were great performnces!!!! i heard them. I can't listen to Sonnambula since then. it all sounds so "weak" and insignificant.

  • I've never heard any other soprano make as beautiful or exciting a sound as Sutherland did; she had the most incredible instrument of any singer in the last 50 years. Thank God for these snippets from her glorious past.

  • thats a redicuous comment, about sutherland being the greatest anina of her time, of course she, was with the exception of callas, in the late 1950's, after that she owedn the roll, there is no one else to compare to her in anina

  • Sutherland -brilliant as ever, but don't forget Nicolai Gedda, a fantastic singer even at old age.

  • @goranandersson Nicolai Harry Gustav Gedda (gedda [written as 'gädda'] means 'pike' in Swedish) was born in Stockholm (July 11, 1925) to a Swedish mother and a half-Russian father. Gedda was raised by his aunt Olga Gedda and his adoptive father who sang bass in Serge Jaroff's Don Cossack Choir and was cantor in a Russian Orthodox church]. Gedda is said to be the most widely recorded tenor in history. Splendid and brillant duet. RIP, Dame Joan Sutherland . From Romania, with love.

  • The perfection! Absolute perfection! Thanks, Coloraturafan!

  • Stupenda... como siempre!

  • Absolutely huge and brilliant E flat! It can be heard over everything else!

  • The greatest Amina of the latter half of the 20th century! Sutherland is magnificent in this role, and I was fortunate enough to have heard her live at the Met. Thank you for posting this marvelous souvenir.

  • Lucky you, Meltzerboy, ta have been able to assist the performance!
