  • i want to start 3d animation but ur scaring me.

  • OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHH

    i cried ;(

  • I absolutely love this video, also excellent company reel! Just felt this needed saying.

  • "What is this shit?"

  • freakin awesome!!!!!

  • clients ALWAYS choose Blueberry and Peanut Butter!

  • Great job! I totally understood. How much do you charge for 1 min of 3d?

  • @11Thirtymusic 1 min of 3D is 60 seconds.. 1 second is 24 frames in PAL format... For freelancing its around 30-150 dollars per hour depending on the quality needed.. :D

  • @11Thirtymusic 1 min of 3D is 60 seconds.. 1 second is 24 frames in PAL format... For freelancing its around 30-150 dollars per hour depending on the quality needed.. :D.. a 1 min movie will take ONE person a month to finish.. with 6 hours of work per day.. excluding weekends

  • @Vikramthewhite So you are saying a Minimum of $3600 for 1 min of Animation?

  • @11Thirtymusic like i said .. it depends on the quality and the purpose.. :D.. if ur freelancing for a feature then yea.. somewhere around that.. Few weeks ago i worked on a 1:05 min Full CG Animation for a company (Which shall be Unknown). It was for a total of 3 international ADs (Which also also be unknown). I charged them 4.5K for the whole thing :). But they had a tight time constraint O_O..

  • @Vikramthewhite Like they say: "fast/cheap/good, pick any two"

  • @Dasyati Fast - 30-60 (Depending on number of characters :D)

    Good - 60-100 (Depending on characters :D.)

  • @11Thirtymusic - this depends on the requirements of the job... a fully 3D 1 minute video usually takes a while to produce but prices are not only based on production time, also the amount of details, environments and experience of the animator need to be considered. Cirkus quotes out prices to what needs to be done and which AD's fit the job so if you like us to quote something out for you - please contact us via our website cirkus.co.nz

  • It is not the fact that clients don't get it. I think they do get it. Still, they don't want to pay and that is the problem.

  • Oh I looove the style SO much! Terribly delicious!

  • There are 7 clients whose didn't like the fact that on the end they cannot change anymore the boy into a half boy/half girl/half tank.

  • BRILLIANT!

  • "Don't change anything, only color." I really wish that was true.

  • I really love this one!! The style is awesome and it's a lot of fun to watch. At least for those who practice 3d animation ;)

  • Bravo!

Still, I'm not sure people will get it.

  • What's a Draw-Ring?

  • I'm a character animator and I'm still trying to explain to my parents what I do!

  • Oh I know exactly what you mean. I've been modelling, animating and rigging for several years now and they still don't have any idea what it is that I do. I just tell them that I make video games, lol.

  • This is fantastic, all agencies should be forced at gun point to view and understand this.

  • yeah really good

  • I need to get me one of these computer machines.

  • OMG 4:10 XD I always love see this scene!

  • Life saver

  • Welcome to my world

  • This is an excellent video in every respect, from the animation to the dialogue and really clarifying how things work. Sadly, however, the retro 50's style and cheeky narrator is too obnoxious and patronizing for anyone I know to tolerate it for more than a minute :( Still, great video and props to those involved.

  • wish someone had created this when i started learning the process...might be a whole lot farther ahead by now! and the more inquisitive clients might actually learn a thing or two : )

  • I can finally explain my job to my dad.

Too bad he still won't get it.

  • great!

  • This is flat out the best introduction to the animation production process that I have ever seen.

Thanks so much! I'll be showing this to every student I haveI

    Great humor too!

  • @joetainment .... typo, "havel" should have read "have!"

  • I agree, if only they didn't have the word shite in it and showed smoking & drinking i could use this with my middle school students....as it is...i'll just be sharing it with fellow ed tech educators!

  • I masturbated to this.

  • Excellent Idea and work!

    ccongrats, very lovely!

  • awesome!! if you like 3D then click on me and check out my channel...

  • CONGRATULATIONS for this EXCELLENT VIDEO!! And, most important of all: THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! =))

  • Everybody needs to see this o.o

Send it to elementary schools everywhere!

  • Excellent!!!!!

  • only problem i have with these animation companies is the way they present things to clients... the client comes to YOU to design and create somthing, so when you show them a whole bunch of examples of what they want, how are they suppose to know whats good and works?? should be up to the company to create and choose the best for the job.

  • @itcouldb The client should have done their own market research and have a good idea of what they want. The research part of advertising usually isn't part of the animation company's job.

  • ??

    yeah right...

like saying that you hire a company to build you a ONE million dollar mansion.

But you don't want the architect to ask you anything...

makes sense right? you are paying for the house after all... why would you want the hassle of choosing the colour of the walls or the size of the swimming pool... or how many bathrooms and bedrooms...

that would work in a universe where clients would pay in advance and never ever have an opinion about anything, ever.

    seriously LoL

  • @tieInterceptor

you've obviously missed the point of this movie. Its an example of the process of producing a tvc. Jobs require structure to stay within budget. Constant changes have consequences.

  • laynos, you should read the post that I'm answering...

because you HAVE missed the point.

  • This is great! We Love it!.,..

    Here are our comments:

Can we change the narrator to a Miley Cirus sound-Alike? and I have to run this by some people who won't be available, but this needs to fit into a 10 second endTag.

    thanks!

    We are getting there!

    :p

  • @Tabloid42 LOL

  • And your budget just got halved and we changed our minds its now going to be 20 mins long, and we want george cloony, and it has to look like happy feet or lord of the rings. Think cave troll.

  • Great work whoever made this! Lovin' it. :)

  • Thank you so SO much for this.

I hope you don't mind but this needs to be seen by every agency and client in the world although I can't believe it will change the inane comments that come but still... worth the try

  • Hahahaha - awesome. We have many clients that would benefit from an instructional film such as this. :) (Our filmstrips haven't been getting the point across very well...)

  • thats a masterpiece - I love it!

  • I LOVE the Amstrad and Commodore equipment shots!

  • That is fantastic. Very funny!

  • I love you!

  • absolutely brilliant!!!

  • brilliant

  • brilliant!!! funny and informative

  • excellent

  • Brilliant! It's a shame you have to go to this extreme to educate clients though - It's not like we have to understand how they build their cars to do the advertising work on them! :/

  • @pxlpainter you got a point there... but we like to make life easier for both the client AND us :)

  • @CirkusProductions Thank you, sending this to our clients asap!

  • @CirkusProductions I think all clients should be made to watch this video before hiring a studio's services :)

  • This is a brilliant animation, and does explain some of the more basic concepts of 3D to people :D

I loved the 50's style. People just don't do the effort to make stuff like this good anymore, you know? Really good job.

  • @DoctorMelon Thank you, thank you :)

  • That was amazing!! Going to show this to every client I get who wants an animation done. Very entertaining :)

  • @grantmoore3d Awesome mate, the more see this the better! And maybe we can help you one day

  • @AmazingAaronTV Thanks!

  • WAO, esta genial, felicidades a los creadores!

Wonderful job folks! I also feel I was educated on how to wash my hands somewhere in here :P

  • @MuseumOfDreams Haha, thank you!

  • Wicked! Cirkus for the win.

  • @GobblynneAnimation Thanks!

  • @lisduggan64 Yep, its on our minds!

  • Great! Look forward to them! Fantastic work!!!

  • This is brilliant guys. I have to show this to some of my client too if you don't mind. :)

  • @jerelmani Thats awesome mate!! Spread the word!

  • Ha, great stuff. I will send this to clients when explaining

"Why does it take so long?"

I think explaining the process probably takes longer than a lot of clients think it takes to do it.

But yeah, a brief explanation of render layers and compositing might be good too?

  • @AsimovBond Thanks for your comments! I guess we do explain it a bit, but we chose to keep things reasonably general to not fall in the trap that we animation people do so often: too much serious slightly nerdy detail :)

  • Thats really nice work. Well explained! I did want to hear more about the rasterizing and z-sorting though...

  • @Dubbie99 Fair enough, well do a science doohickey version next

  • I was joking.

I did like the "sciencey" diagrams though.

  • Cool

  • no mention of compositing then?

considering the extent of the piece, that's a weirdly massive omission...

  • @banbury1 Apologies I guess the putting together is dealing with this. Weve tried to keep as simple as possible, without having the newbies tune out. Anyways, looking forward to your version which will address this.

  • excellent stuff!

  • @bli1964 Thanks :)

  • well f'n done! showing this video is so much easier than explaining it out every time to someone.

  • @Siphon216 cheers! That's exactly why we made this vid - making life easier for the 3D animation involved

  • This is awesome. You win.

  • Very well done, guys!

  • Thanks :)
