  • im pretty good on a whistle.. and let me tell you the song he dose at the end is really difficult. done well it sounds like that.. done wrong it blows away peoples ear drums and sounds like two cats having sex

  • After buying a tin whistle and trying just silent night, I have a new respect for him.

  • I'm gonna buy a tin whistle. Anybody have any recommendations on a dealer/brand I should pick up?

  • @redSG i bought a tin whistle by Clarke and im really happy with it, because it sounds good and wasnt too expensive

  • @Enn1226

I ended up getting a Walton Little Black D. It's very nice for only $4, and I'm already learning some tunes (: I was a little afraid I wasn't going to able to pick it up very easily, but I'm quite surprised that I'm grasping it so quickly. Never played a woodwind before. I'm going to be uploading a video soon of me playing a (very easy) song. Probably some slow tunes like King Of The Faeries and Old Fenian Men.

  • This is badass.

  • this is the best whistle playing on youtube except for hateo who is outstanding too.

  • Son of a. Need to practise, now.

  • he spent the day storing air for this few mins XD

  • This makes me even prouder of my Irish heritage

  • i cant keep up :)

  • name of this song plllwlwwsse?

  • That would go well together with some metal, I think.

  • I got a boner, mate. A fuckin' boner.

  • Can't remember at what point in this vid I got up and started dancing.

  • what kind of tin whistle is he using? D?

  • @Mac11A1 it looks like a susato whistle.

  • @Mac11A1 It's a Susato in the key of D. Yes.

  • @xramengrlx thank u

  • @Mac11A1 You're welcome :)

  • @Classicaljazzman Im very interessted by the transcription of this tune ! Could you send it to me please ?

  • @Classicaljazzman Hi there, I would much appreciate a transcription of this piece thanks.

  • @Classicaljazzman MOST DEFINITELY interested in a transcription of this tune!! Please!

  • awfully curious to know what the 9 people who disliked this like...

This is, by far, my favourite tin whistle vid here on Youtube

  • Feck

  • this is music and proper musicians, feckin savage bit of a tune!

  • Is that an ''S'' series Susato or a ''V'' series?

  • @thehypnoticillusion S i belive, looks fairly identical to mine

  • @thehypnoticillusion: S-series. I got the same model last week. Awesome whistle mate. Two piece, so it's a Kildare model. The V-series is tapered (skinner at the end). Plus the S-series is louder than the V, and the reason why I chose S over V.

  • @Aussiecelt85 I have a Dublin model, besides the fact that the kildare is a two piece model, is there any other difference? This sounds a bit sweeter than my Dublin

  • @thehypnoticillusion: There really isn't a difference between the kildare and dublin apart from kildare being 2 pieces. I have a lot of Susato whistles:

2 piece low D, high D, high C, Bb, one piece low Eb(dublin), and a one piece Eb. My Eb (high) is a single piece and is black not ivory. I prefer kildare over dublin for it being easier to clean, easier to transport (by detaching), and is 'tunable'. He sounds great due to his skill (Ornamentations), & room acoustics help while playing

  • Is he doing something special with the pinky on his left hand?

  • @fromtopeka: The pinky is not traditionally used to play a tin whistle. Some people move their pinky more than others while playing (a reflex action or habit perharps). When you do the ornament of a 'cut' by lifting up the left ring finger (commonly used for cutting lower notes), it's understandible/natural for the pinky to move. Hope I helped mate. I'm not a professional like Pat here, but I know enough to help others out.

  • @shanksblade

aye, I did indeed listen through my Sony headphones (best 28 quid I've ever spent!), but tweaking the eq really helped. Wee bit more bass, lots of mid and scoop the hell out of the highs, only way to crank up the volume without getting a headache :)

  • 1:45-47, in the midst of all that playing he can still give out a silent 'Alright there, champ?' to an audience member, that's awesome.

  • ps, cheers comhaltas for putting up such talented performances, you inspire many young people including myself to keep the traditional music alive and kicking.

its just a pity there are racist imbeciles who project their warped view of the world trolling on your videos.

go mbeannaí Dia duit agus athbhliain faoi mhaise duit

  • this is so merry and beautiful!! I feel good every time I listen to it! because of this video I decided to buy a tin flute!

  • Where can you purchase the sheet music for this? What is it's official name?

  • @ozzy85Mpower agreed you would be of the Nordic not Celtic ancestry if you were from a Germanic country

  • I got an old tin whistle from a friend and am trying to teach myself how to play it, does anyone have any tips on getting started, and no, I am not going to do lessons, I just want to be able to play another instrument semi-well

  • That is amazing! Can I purchase or print off this sheet music for my irish tin whistle anywhere? What is this song called? Who is the composer? Thanks :D

  • DONKEY KONG COUNTRY RETURNS!!!!

  • Not trying to be racest but your playing "irish music" and your shirt said gennes

i just find it ironic not trying to offend any one. nice music by the way

  • @ghosty1490 What do you mean? Guinness is Irish brand of Beer...

  • @biftedes yes but if you dont know what i mean you must live in a hole the fact the irish people drink and get hammerd is a stariotipe hens the "irish music" and the beer shirt i was joking

  • @ghosty1490 English is not your main language. is it???

  • Nice, excellent job!!! Makes one proud to European, Irish, and White with their culture!!! And it takes real talent to play such instruments!!!

    Enjoyed, thanks for sharing!!!

  • @GermanAmericanBunder that's a bit overgeneralized haha. but it does give some celtic pride.

  • @chopkins779

Irish are White, we have have natural right to be proud, distinct, separate, etc; of being White{genetics} as much as our culture of that genetics, in this case Celtic{culture}. Anyone who looks at Sheamus or Fit-Finlay for example on WWE wreastling and says they are Black and Brown---needs to have their eyes checked and sterilized as not to breed.{hahaha}.

So it is correct, when it makes one proud to be White/European/Aryan, those are genetic ethnic terms of the Europid people
