When I was little, the title of this piece confused me because "anitra" is an antiquated Italian word that means "duck". So when I read the title and heard the music, I imagined a duck dancing and quacking.
Worth watching more of Volker Hartung, as he's such a flamboyant conductor and so entertaining! Not the best quality video, but the quality of playing certainly comes out!
After many years searching what classic song is this called, I finally got it!!!!!! and after hearing this I feel ecstatic. It's easy to know a song by lyrics but its a little different without it. I wont forget the name"Anitras Dance" ever again that's for sure
fantastic orchestra! Volker Hartung is the best conductor iv ever seen. he really gets into the music wich in turn gets all the players into the music. best version of anitra's dance iv ever heard! =D
Alright already! Here's a comment(you don't really have to twist my arm!)this is a very good rendition of one of my personal favorites! Sure,Grieg did not write any symphonies, but it being a few decades after Beethoven's passing, it must have been quite intimidating to compose one, especially in the shadow of Beethoven. Edvard Grieg wrote a lot of very charming & beautiful short pieces.Hey sometimes you don't have the time to listen to a 45 minute magnum opus, like first thing in the morning!
So far on youtube, this is the best performance of Anitra's dance here. In comparison with other videos which are not proffesional this one is in great advance. God thanks that I finally found good video because on youtube there are many poor ones. They play really bad there and with no tempo and false notes. Great work again. :D
@martinkoklingacik Furthermore it's the only version so fare on youtube where the double basses are providing the fundament. It is what makes the composition come alive and provides the rhythm. In all the other arrangements there s no bass which makes it appear kinda dead.
