Also pankration had nothing to do with MMA. The most widespread techniques in pankration were open palm strikes to the back of the head and groin kicks. Oh yeah, Junior dos Santos has great groin kicks... And the Severn example was just an example of guys who are equally regarded in their sport.

I find the difference in boxing combos vs MMA boxing fascinating.Boxing combos can be superb to watch,especially the way Toney,Hopkins,etc manipulate movement and space,angles to do the unexpected.MMA and muay thai combos are also amazing eg.feint with a kick,knee with the other leg,jab,right/left hook combo followed by 2 leg kicks(check jose Aldo clips-different but equally skillful.I enjoy both sports-that way its twice the fun!

Keeps finding his way to the top and coming up short but I have to give him credit for getting the opportunity to get a title. There aren't too many guys who can keep getting into title eliminator bouts and title bouts like that.
