The probe was a rebodied MX-6 that was built at the Auto Union plant in Flat Rock, Michigan. The factory was was a joint Ford/Mazda collaboration. The stock '89 GT's were very strong running cars when new. Back in 1989, one of the car rags raced a PGT and a GT Mustang through the quarter. The cars came out just about even, I believe the Mustang just nosed out the Probe.
What I was pointing out to the other guy, was that he was using the term "ricer" all wrong. He said that the "Honda is a ricer because it's japanese", whereas I said to him that "Yeah, so the Probe is a ricer too, 'cause it has a japanese engine?".

Up north where road salt is used these almost always got destroyed when the finish peels off and the center cap falls off. Haven't seen a nice one in a long long time. That probe did look really clean with those wheels.

The reason the civic costs more is because of rabid fanboyz like you who are convinced for some odd reason it is a better car and are willing to pay up for it. My favorite car is a Honda but I am speaking the truth here. The Probe comes in at a decent weight, has higher rated power and reasonably short ratios on the 5spd. man i had a 89 probe gt turbo and i dont know what the gut did to it that i got it from but i couldnt keep it on the road from 1st to 3rd and the stock gage went to the red under boost i miss that car oh to be young and dumn

just think the civic has an engine swap, and you know this guy's probe wasn't fresh, it probably had over 200k on it. (most i've seen do) and if it was fresh that civic would have got sexually assaulted.
