@letsshoutletsdance Great Idea! They are good "couch" guitars. The physical size is nice. There are some good modern ones if you do not want to have to deal with the "issues" of a vintage instrument. Getting started, you need to make sure WHATEVER you buy it is set up by a good luthier. Even some very expensive guitars come from the factory with terrible "action", where the strings are so high off the fretboard you really hurt your fingers.
Can you tell me what the model number is on this guitar? I have a 116 that looks just like this and am trying to put an actual date on the manufacture. It is in really rough shape. It came out of an attic at and estate sale. I have my friend who is a luthier fixing it for me.
@anneharpen I looked at my old eBay ad and see that at the time I never did pinpoint the date of manufacture. I might suggest taking some good photos and sending them to Elderly Instruments. I see in my ad that I found on the label inside that this guitar was a Model 1915, Style 1118.
@aragon667 Thanks! At least somebody thinks I'm good! :) I am not so sure myself. I think if you want to be good at blues or slide you need to break up with a significant other so what's in your gut can come out your fingers. I suppose it's better than drowning your sorrows in cheap liquor! Seriously, I played at least 10 years before I purposely spent a lot of time with a slide. Some folks get started on slide right away. It is probably more a matter of hours played then years played
damn shame it needs a re-set. other than that very clean

@aragon667 Play 500 hours of slide and I am SURE you will be good. I must be at about 200.
