  • You were comparing the cost of the Tesla to a Lotus Elise by talking about cost to drive. You're forgetting the Tesla is tremendously faster than an Elise. So you're analogy is like saying you can go 0-62 a trillion times in a Camry for the cost of owning a Ferrari. It's not a parallel. You're paying for the combination of ICE elimination on top of hypercar speed.

  • the tesla isn't attracting attention, everybody just wants to be on TV

  • hahahah 1:30 I love electric cars <3

  • It is actually now available in Canada, i read it in an article on yahoo/com, "revolutionary car in canada" was the article name, with "Electric Tesla Roadster makes Canadian debut" sells for 125,000$.

  • This car rocks! Too bad Tesla has discontinued the Roadster for now - since the doner chassis ( Lotus ) is going away for it's new model. Tesla says it's planning for completely new Roadster in 3 years or so. Until then, Google the Tesla Model S - the attractive sedan will replace this car as their only product. Due out 2011.

  • @lolsmileyface Make that late 2012.

  • Now I know why I hate the europeans

  • I'd rather have a Lotus

  • Cool tune at 4:00

  • They should ade some nose electric Car to avoid accidence ....

  • I like this car but not our road surfaces

  • not spending any money on fuel?? electricity costs money you tit

  • so your not getting your money back quickly

  • 3 quid on fuel instead of 40

  • @eldictator1 yeah and then waiting 16 hours or so after a couple of hours driving before you can go anywhere else

  • Electric cars are surprisingly fast off the line due to their high torque production

if you do 0-60 in 4 secs too many times I bet it's range is about 4 miles!!

  • @edmonddantes64

Did you see this on Top Gear. Worked like a dream... for a few laps - lasted about a tenth of its supposed range - luckily they had a spare to hop in when the battery died.... that they thrashed round the track two or three times at full whack before it too died.

  • They had to apologise for that, it didn't die, neither car died. One had a faulty fuse that stopped the brakes but they both had 20% energy left. They didn't even need to push it back. Apparently they wanted to show what happened when it ran out of fuel, which they never showed with countless other super cars with 9mpg or about 44 miles which came out less than the teslas 56mpc, Which they "worked out"

  • @eldictator1

fair dues, With battery technology improving all the time the Tesla and its kin are only going to improve endurance wise. They did show unquestionably that electric cars can rightfully call themselves sports cars

  • I agree.Essentially they're using lap top li-on batteries, 90% recyclable. We know battery tech is advancing every few years by about ten percent. We've been waiting 30 years for hydrogen tech yet its still too expensive and "10 years away" we have a car that works here, granted still has problems, but it's their first. The 45 minute quick chargers are the size of a ticket machine and cost a few thousand pounds, so essentially a handfull could be put around a small town

  • @eldictator1 GM got the EV1 up to 200 miles per charge back in 1996 or 97 & then recalled & crushed all the cars.

  • @edmonddantes64 the range wouldn't drop that much. If you do 0-60 in 4sec. each time you stop, the brakes turn the motor into a generator and actually charges the battery with high amperage. The motor is actually huge part of the braking system.

  • ever since Waynes World, you just cant use that music seriously :/

  • XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

AFTER ALL THAT AND YOU DIDN'T TELL US HOW MANY MILES PER CHARGE

if it was 15 miles on one charge and 16 hours to charge it , would be a waist of time ........

    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  • @tozstyle info is all on Teslas site and it is pretty accurate. Top Gear tore one up on a track and that is worst case - sure the vid is round here somewhere.

  • it averages around190-240 depending on conditions, although an australian guy got his around 313miles which is the record

  • its tooooooo quiet electric or not

  • Just chuck a compressd air powered Tesla Turbine in it and you can get pretty much the same soudn as an engine.

  • @poll669 Think if they made a battle tank with an electric engine instead (replacing the entire battery during fuelling and taking the old one back to charge)

It could sneak around and you wouldn't hear them until they were really close. ^^

  • @Memubitsu the tesla could make a good bond car =D think about it

  • @Memubitsu

The batteries would die before you got the tank out of neutral.

  • MY CUZ IS LUCKY HIS DAD GOT 1

  • not bad car I imagine lottery winners oor celebs buying it

  • the trance - is exelent what is the name?

  • this is really good, the 2-speed gearbox would have only made it slightly faster.

  • If only we all decided to get rid of the Petrol/Oil companies, imagine how far the technology would be and how much cheaper!

  • @greenemerald1 They'll be dead in 50 years or so anyway :)

  • what is the trance song used at 4:00 ?

  • electric comes from coal fired power stations which is the most polutate way of making power, they should be charged via solar/wind power, then its a winner just like my little home made electric saxo.

  • Dynamo in the wheels, to help get some back aswell maybe?

  • @seankp1 BULLSHIT!!!!! YOU FAIL!!! TRY CHARGIN IT FROM SOLAR POWER ON YOUR GARAGE!!! OLD TIMER!!!!!! GET WITH THE TIMES FOOL!!!!

  • thats pretty cool, must be un-nerving turning the car on and there being no sound what so ever haha that would take a bit of getting used to

  • It may have several major drawbacks but its a step in the right direction for electric sports cars. Cool car btw.

  • Shame it has too limited a range and takes hours to recharge. Not really practical in day to day life.

  • plz tell me this trance song they used her at 4.00. Thanks...............

  • it starts at about 3.39

  • Yep your right but hate all the talking etc....

but still waiting for the track name.

    thanks

  • yeah its nice looking and cheap to charge but it hasn't got the nice loud sound that n engine gives

  • awesome car :-)

  • So it would cost about somewhere between £5-6 for a complete charge

  • looks really nice, i hope china can copy this soon and make cheaper

  • and make a car as safe as Brilliance cars?

  • Cheaper isn't usually better...
