Come all the way down from bleeding London to stand by this bloody smelly ocean and you say she can't hit the ship with the bottle?! *SMACK* LET THE OLD BAT HIT THE SHIP WITH THE BOTTLE ARTIE!!!!

  • I thought you couldn't get a funnier woman than Lucy. I only discovered Carol today, and I think I may have just done it. Genius.

  • 10 people are hollow-hulled halfwits

  • Have you got the one where they're trying to get back into the palace and Tim won't let them in?

  • "hey, this is the King you're talking too"..........actually he's NOT THE KING.

SHE is the Queen of England he is Prince Phillip, Royal Consort.

  • @donpazer Funny, thing you should say that. Not long after this aired, they were doing their audience thing and someone from England actually pointed that out. But also said that Phillip had briefly tried to get hmself titled King to which Carol replied, "Why that little devil."

  • @CManArt1 That's exactly who I thought of too!

  • Carol Burnett is always funniest when she's losing it. And Maggie Smith puts the dame in Dame here. She also plays Bubba's teacher in a Family episode.

  • JESUS!!!! I died when i saw Maggie's legs! They're GORGEOUS!!!!!

I envy her so for her beauty and grace!!!

    Keep on rockin' Maggie :D

  • WOW!!! Maggie Smith was gorgeous!!!!!

  • I live in the place where the Mayflower was built. :3

  • The Dame is a hottie! I Love Maggie Smith. She's one of my favorite actresses ever. She was also in the original version of Clash of the Titans way back before Professor McGonagall ever existed.

  • Elizabeth has German blood, and PRINCE Phillip is fucking Greek, so much for English Monachy !

Long live Maggie, Dame there of !

    British through and though !

  • @jazzmanzoot Who among us is not of mixed blood? If you think having pure English ancestry alone makes for a good head of state, then I would say you're completely mental. And it's been three hundred and three years since we've had an "English Monarchy". You're quite right about one thing, Maggie is fantastic.

  • @austrianmonkey Ooh ! House of Stuart ! . . . Very nice. But I`m looking for Quintessential Englishness (If there is such a thing any more !)

NOT, Saxe-Coburg Gotha, more. . . . House of Tudor.

Long live Queen Elizabeth the First, and all who sail in her !

    Right. . . . . ! Were`s this ficking Armada ! ! !

    Charles UK

    Me Mental ! ? . . . . . . Rather an understatement really !

    Toodle loo !

  • @jazzmanzoot You mean Wales' own House of Tudor and the Scottish Stuarts, those great bastions of "Quintessential Englishness"? :P

  • @tjmooney I stand corrected my ol` son. I bow to your superior Knowledge !

So who do you reconmend for "Quintessential Englishness"

    Edward III ?

Bess is still, MY, favourite ! And I ain`t know Royalist ! !

  • HEL-LEOH-LEOH-EOH-EOH-EOH!

  • "Stinky? Stinky you saaayyy??!" LOL

  • "Let the old bat hit the ship with the bottle Artie!" I love Maggie Smith.

And Maggie in that dress!!! XD She has great legs but that's just too funny!

  • "Hello, sailor." What a hilarious line! And Harvey's reaction was perfect!

Carol's accent cracks me up so much! It must have been hard to keep a straight face around it.

  • Professor Mcgonagall is hot !!

    [Maggie Smith]

  • ""Hello sailor" Love love maggie smith! :)

  • Maggie looks gorgeous! And her legs!! Carol is a great queen - I would gladly serve under her ayye!

  • doesnt she sort of look like tim curry?

  • lol

    Stinky?, Stinky you say!.

lol she should be ms nelson

if there is a movie of

    Miss nelson is missing

  • The first time i saw Maggie Smith was in "Sister Act I & II". can't believe my eyes now that she can be this funny...boy! her legs are divine! Carol got lovely nice legs too, if she dared to show them with her queen looks!

  • they really whored up maggie smith ..i mean looking at that skirt..one has to ask.."god lord does the wedgie hurt?!"

  • Too bad there's no more queen's skits of Carol on here, because this character seems hilarious.

  • That's what I remember most from her show was her as the queen. So freakin' funny

  • A long time before Harry Potter huh? Maggie had nice legs.

  • LOL I love this! Maggie steals the show as always in this clip - best part is when she goes on her rant and yells "Let the old bat hit the ship with the bottle!"

  • I'd go with "Hello Sailor" myself.

  • This is absolutely brilliant. I've seen Maggie Smith as a lot of things now, but I think this character beats almost everything. I don't think she has ever made me laugh so hard!

  • favorite bits:

"Well I'll be dipped in porridge!"

"Let the old bat hit the ship with the bottle!"

  • Why didn't she ever make fun of Margaret Thatcher?

  • This was made sometime in the '60's or '70's, that's why.

  • @Neville6000 - The 1975-76 season, to be precise. By then Tim Conway had become a regular, and Dame Smith had made her first appearance on the Burnett show in 1974.

  • cause margaret thatcher will cut a bitch :P

  • omggg it's miss jean brodie!!

  • omggg its professor Mcgonagal from harry potter!! wooow

  • i love this skip!

  • Dame Maggie has got some legs on her!!! I love both those women! They're awsome!!

  • lol, they didn't call her "Dame" for no reason *wink*

  • Haha! No doubt!

  • witzig!!!!!!

  • this is by far one of the best carol burnett scenes around!!!!

  • There isn't a Stinky among them! lol

  • DAYUM!

    dame maggie's got some gams!!!

  • OK i just now realized who this is!

    It's Professor Minerva McGonagall!!!!!!!!!

I WILL NEVER WATCH HARRY POTTER THE SAME WAY AGAIN!

  • you are SO RIGHT!OMG!it's gonna be so hard watching the new one.:D

  • omg it is!

  • Lol...I love her.

  • wow dame maggie smith has some nice legs

    =D

love her as Professor McGonnagle in Harry Potter tho, great actress

  • Lyle Waggoner was funny before Tim Conway came to replace him. But in as good as Lyle Waggoner was, i think Tim Conway was much funnier and a better comedian than Lyle.

  • i think this is my favorite carol burnett character!

  • i wonder how the real Queen Elizabeth would have handled a funny problem and a character like this Newberry-Stinky!-LOL.

  • Ya compared to The Family and Mrs. Wiggins, this was a very underrated recurring sketch. Carol was brilliant in this. Starts out so formal and dignified as the queen and just loses it over Newberry's/Conway's idiocy...

  • this funny skit of Queen Elisabeth of England was one of my favourite comedy skits from Carol Burnett's show. I wonder if the real Queen Elisabeth has ever seen it. and what a coincidence too because President Obama and his wife Michelle just recently paid a visit to her royal majesty in England.

  • im sure shes watched it!! i wonder what she thought of it

  • Excellent. I've never heard Maggie Smith do a Cockney accent before.

  • okay she sounds like a cat meowing when she is trying to say bough rough

  • O LOVE CAROL, she, and the show, are by far one of the best in history

  • I love Dame Maggie Smith - she is so talented

  • maggie smith! wow... haven't seen anything with her when she was this young

  • mrs BOUGGRAPH!

i thought she was a separate skit

  • wow maggie smith

  • Ok, let me say this.I wasn't old enought to watch this when it originally aired, but I LOVE Carol Burnette. I like 2 look back at classics and see who I can recognize. The woman with the difficult name is the Professor who can change into a cat from the Harry Potter movie collections!! I'm so glad someone posted these things!!

  • same here!

  • This is one of my favorites. My favorite is Funt and Mundane. They are hilarious.

  • LOL 8:20-end

  • This is the funniest thing when you're high!!!!! I've been told.

  • nice save

  • I've shown this to friends of mine in Great Britain. They think it's hillarious. (...and dead on.)

  • I sent the Hitler puppet sketch with Conway to my German friend. Just sent it, so I'm waiting to see if she finds it funny or not.

  • "Sticky is not in the bunch!" her facial expression was awesome!

  • My hubby and kids are gonna plotz when they see Dame Maggie!!! I remember this sketch from the original show and I'm still having trouble putting her together with McGonnagle!

  • "Let the old bat hit the ship with the bottle Artie!" LMAO classic comedy is the greatest

  • All right, why did I get a thumbs down?

  • I don't get that part about getting other bottles...

  • I see you're really working with the comedy aspect here....

  • LOL

  • my kids couldn't believe that she was McGonnagle from Harry Potter, lol!

  • Did your kids not believe that Tim Conway was Barnacle Boy from SpongeBob Squarepants?

  • dude why is everyone giving you thumbs down? dude you just have good points

  • If you can manage to find the one about the Popsicle, please DO post it.

  • The girl on the arm of the servicemember is so true of the scenario portrayed in the skit! Awesome. I grew up on Carol and these clips are great. BUFFALO POPSICLE!!!!!

  • This is one of the funniest skits I have EVER seen! "Let the old bat hit the ship with the bottle---" HILARIOUS! Long live Maggie!

  • Hats off to Carol Burnett ! An American icon .

  • This skit of Queen Elizabeth from England was one of my favourite comedy skits from The Carol Burnett Show.

  • 'ullo sayla

  • Carol does a good imitation of the Queen, sounds a lot like her when she was younger, after all this was recorded in the 1970's. Queen Elizabeth looked a lot different back then and sounded a bit different too, her accent has changed a bit over the past few decades...

  • Love it! Carol and Maggie are some extremely funny women!

Maggie is my absolute favorite though!

  • assuming this is supposed to be Queen Elizabeth II, Britain hasnt had a King since her father died. Prince Phillip is not king of anything except his own ego

  • Yes well it's just meant as a joke, I'm sure Carol knew the Britain does not have a King...

  • stinky!?

    PAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

  • tell him we can get other bottles..LMAO

  • harvey korman will be surely missed R.I.P.

  • Harvey sure was a handsome devil! RIP

  • "Well, I'll be dipped in porridge!" great line from Harvey Korman R.I.P you will sadly be missed you were a true comedy legend.

  • Ahhh! I knew that Gwendalspire Baaamumblemuble looked familiar, but it took until she got all shrill and hit Tim Conway with her purse for it to click--that's really MAGGIE SMITH!!! As a TART! In that DRESS!! Well, I NEver...

  • haha i know i said the same thing

i love maggie smith and then u see her boobs hanging out with a short dress, man i couldnt stop laughing

  • I love Dame Maggie Smith! She's hilarious!

  • I love Maggie! sherocksmysox!!!

  • Charlotte Bartlett in another life!!

  • I LOVE this show. Forgot how funny it was.

  • Lol, poor Carol sure does get abused in this one!

  • OMG I LOVE THIS SKIT

    i'm lmao right now!

  • Look! Maggie Smith had gams!

  • Of all the running skits they did -- The Family, Mrs. Wiggins and Mr. Tugball, even the commercial parodies -- I thought this was way underrated. Carol is hysterical as the Queen, and it's a perfect vehicle for Tim Conway to disrupt whatever was in the script...

  • Good Heavens! Who knew that Dame Maggie used to have such a smashing figure?

  • The shows today pale in comparison to the Carol Burnett show....she knew how to make us laugh and still does.

  • The shows today can't do clean humor like before. Hollywood doesn't think like that now.

  • That's because writers now lack the wit.

    It's the education gap.

But My God! If Carol doesn't have the Queens speech down packed... lol.

  • Oh yes, I also thought that Carol has the Queen's accent down to a T.

  • This was the second best skit on the Burnett Show after the Eunice & Mama skit.

  • it's so funny because that's actually the way Queen Elizabeth talks! Brilliant!

  • I wish we could get the Queen to post a comment.

  • wow. she has nice legs.

  • WOW! Maggie Smith has some legs on her! I never would have known.

  • maggie smith is absolutely priceless.

  • OMG!!! I did not realize that was maggie smith!!! but it is obvious! i recognize the voice now!

  • Same here - DITTO

  • The second best comedy after I Love Lucy!

  • I haven't any idea if the story is true, but I remember reading somewhere on the internet that Tim Conway created these sketches in collaboration with Michael Palin of Monty Python fame. Anybody else hear this story as well. At any rate, still the most devastating parody of Liz Windsor ever done . . .

  • I wouldn't be surprised. This kind of stuff requires two geniuses

  • many times they would just add their own twist to old material or even everyday things almost like snl at times but a million times better

  • go maggie!

    shes fantastic!

  • "you can have your mayflower, and you can have you beautiful queen but you can not have your STINKY!!!" LOL!!

  • FABULOUS , TA !

  • Holy crap... who knew Maggie Smith had gams?!

  • THE very best impersonation of the Queen ever made. This is so like the Queen in so many ways. Sheer perfection, Carol Burnett. Thank you!!!

I'll bet the Queen saw this and when she did she laughed heartily.

  • chem100: I think that is the personation of Queen Elizabeth's mom

  • Are the other portions of this episode available online anywhere?
