By the tail end of the monday night wars, He was a born again Christian and didn't like the Sleazy attitude era mentality of the WWF. after some time out of the ring, he went to TNA because he and Jeff Jarrett were buddies.

So basically it's not tha the doesn't like vince, he just never felt the need to work for him.
