  • i love the bit at 1.50. what a champ

  • Everythings tougher that comes from Alaska.

  • Catching a 305lb stone off a bounce and loading it= INSANE! This guy would have been the greatest, makes me happy my name is Jesse!

  • @jbump4 Jesse Marunde was a great strongman and a super nice guy. If Jesse would not have passed on when he did he would be a phenom right now in the strongman circuit He is still with us in spirit and alive in our memories. He will never be forgotten.

  • @jbump4 but you're name isnt jesse. its jizzer

  • @jbump4 just joking. jesse marunde was such a cool guy, one of my favourite strongmen. just watched the 05 wsm again, what a machine.

  • such a nice guy would definitely been a future champ!!! was so sad to hear he passed away such a likeable personality!! never met him but watched alot of interviews and obviously watched him on wsm always such a cool and nice guy! R.I.P Jesse Marunde your gone but not forgoten!!!

  • what weight was he pressing on the INCLINE-BENCH-PRESS at the start of the video? jesse was a great strongman...one of my favourites! nice man too + good family man! much missed!-how much weight was ("BOTH" INCLINE-BENCH-PRESSES in this video)?

  • Comment removed

  • @blueparrot10 first attempt looks like 365 lbs. Second attempt looks to be 405 lbs.

  • what weight was he pressing on the INCLINE-BENCH-PRESS at the start of the video? jesse was a great strongman...one of my favourites! nice man too + good family man! much missed!

  • at 5:54 he is like playing catch with that atlas stone lol!!! monster strenght!!!

  • He was an amazing strongman and one of my idles. Sad that he had to go without ever obtaining the WSM title. The way he is able to handle those stones is amazing, he was always known for high reps.

  • Nice tribute. Seemed like a great man.

  • at 9.44 who's the guy haoled in the back right? i know in the left its jon pall but i cant put a name to the other guy, so annoying! any ideas?

  • @alexJnips Johnny Perry

  • @SeanHatley thnx buddy, it was so annoying not knowing.

  • I have no doubt that jesse would of been crowned worlds strongest man, in his last couple of contests he was reaching his best

  • R.I.P. Jesse

  • did he have a heart attack in the gym?

  • @Dsmith60X yes. they said he started breathing erratically and was incoherent then just stopped breathing..

  • Jesse was a friend to Mariusz, R.I.P. Jessie we from Poland always liked you, we will always remember yoy!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:56-2:14 O.o. Daaamn his legs looked like wet noodles. R.I.P jesse

  • a good man

  • Jesse was truly one of the best. He's one of the strongmen that inspired me to start training for strongman.

    RIP Jesse....

  • I'm stunned.

  • Music back, thanks!!! RIP Jesse

  • this video would be sick if the music was still there...

  • 1rm for you Jesse! R.I.P. Iron Brother

  • R.I.P. Jesse

I think everybody here that lifts owe Jesse their 1rm

  • damn i was in poland july 16 2005 (02:22) but in warsaw, if i knew i would have been there, jesse always had a big heart, sadly and poetically thats what he died of. R.I.P. JESSE

  • BTW IM SO SAD ABOUT HIM GOING I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT WAS MY BIRTHDAY, i feel guilty for being alive when such good people die so young :(

  • RIP Jessie I never forgot you....

  • 7.00 - 10 min, name music ?

  • Metallica. Nothing Else Matters

  • Thanks mate

  • i don't want to ruin his reputation, but heart failure, isn't that what alot of professional bodybuilders get,you see what im gettin at? i'm not exactly whats happened someone please eloborate.

  • he had a sickness where his hart never stops to grow

  • does he have olympic lifting shoes on in the log press?

  • i sorta had a suspicion that working out TOO hard would actually do more bad than good after reading articles and studying the death of EUGENE SANDOW....feel sorry for what happened to Jesse. His death might actually confirm my horrible suspicion of trying too hard at weights. Guess i better ease when i lift now...

  • I wouldnt say you have to go easier, everyones body is different. The best thing you can do is listen to yourself and know your limitations. R.I.P. Jesse

  • true true everybody's body is different but still, after i read about the guy i was talking about its sorta intimidating ya know......all in all i don't want to be 6ft under the ground. i honestly love lifting, especially the way these guy train: stones, farmer's walk, pressing heavy tires, rope climbing with a lot of weight etc. I just can't believe it's possible to die because of the tough training.

  • whats the first song ????????????

  • this is Pantera-Hollow

  • he gave it his all and left it all in the gym. God bless him and his remaining family. RIP

  • Dammit! I'm a legitimate tough guy but that last minute had my eyes tearing up! RIP Jesse! You will definitely be missed!

  • Feel you there!

  • SZKODA GO BARDZO :(

  • The clip of Jesse doing 20 reps with 407 is inspiring and motivating. After the eleventh rep he looked like he was done and he somehow he fights through 9 more. shows his incredible determination. The guy is amazing. God rest his soul

  • he was my favorite lifter. God Bless him and his family.

he died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is an extremely rare genetic birth defect which causes the heart to continously grow until it is too large.

I remember when i first found out about his death, and i was gloating about him telling my biology instructor that he is an incredible athlete, just so sad.

  • rip marunde :<

  • R.I.P, It's sad...

  • Sad loss........

  • R.I.P. God Bless His soul

  • RIP man my heart goes out to you and your family

  • My heart goes out to Cassie and the kids (& the Bulldog)... Sorry I didn't call in person. He was a great guy... Fun and mischievous, incredibly gifted and will be missed... It saddens me even more because I have known too many Fallen Warriors... Rest in Peace My Friend....

    Mark... Samson-Power

  • So sad that he died, Jesse was a great competitor and a fantastic character. I can hardly believe that we won't be seeing him again. There will never be another fan favourite like him.

  • how he died?

  • natural causes

  • heart failure...god rest his soul 8[

  • Jesse definitely would have become the World's Strongest Man the way he was competing the last few years. It's such a shame he died way too young. RIP Jesse Marunde.

  • God needed a strongman, RIP brother

  • worlds strongest man wont be the same without him, rip to a true great x

  • Aye, I don't even know him, I saw this vid in some guys video blog. Too bad. My gym teacher got me started at weights, although im not too muscular. Hopefully someday, i will be :} RIP mate, you're in a better place now.

  • Good men die too young. Here's to an incredible athlete - R.I.P. Jesse.

  • genetic cardio myopathy. He has/had a relative with the same I read somewhere. My 6-year old daughter has this condition. I am amazed he could train like this with a decreased heart output.Very sad indeed.

    No stupid roid comments please.

  • this is a shock to me. i just found out. truely a great loss. R.I.P big man

  • Love you, bro. You made me dream of being strong and got me started on my journey.

  • RIP Man you were a boss

  • he been good strong man i like him and i no forget him .

  • Pantera - Floods or hollow.... cant even remember which one

  • its hollow

  • r.i.p. bro

  • colous30 jesse actually died from a GENETIC enlarged heart.

  • when it was announced what had happened to poor jesse first i got the goose bumps and the shivers and then i just broke down into tears,he was such an ace guy and it is an absolute tragedy what has happened,he was without doubt one of the best strongmen in the world and will always be remembered r.i.p big fella we will always miss you xxx

  • sme i couldn't believe it either, it's so sad one minute i was cheerin 4 him an the next i was being told he'd died. life's so unfair that way the good guys die young, RIP jesse, an i feel reli sorri 4 his family

  • stunned, ive just watched jesse marunde on the world strongest man heats on tv 10 mins ago,at the end it said jesse had died shortly after filming...couldnt believe it...RIP jesse

  • just watched the strongest man on channel 5 and at the end they gave us sad news that Jesse has passed away, when he seemed so happy with his newborn babygirl, and his wife, i bet he was the nicest person!, he will be greatly missed, our thoughts with his family, his memory will live forever RIP brov.

  • wow he was born on my b-day cool.....My he RIP.....but can some one answer me how did he die??? he looks healthy to me....

  • he died of a enlarged heart a genetic disease ma grandad had he fine now but if it happened to jesse poor man

  • sadly it was caused by a genetic problem,an enlarged heart or something similar r.i.p xxx

  • Very sad. i saw him at Mohegan Sun in conn. in april. He was an announcer there. He seemed like a cool guy. I thought his friend almost died that day (can't remember his name) when he collapsed deadlifting a car multiple times. It's crazy how hard these guys push themselves & don't make anywhere near what other athletes do. RIP

  • yea its sick these bastard over hyped soccer players in england get £50,000 a week for kicking a ball and we strongman work our ass off without recognition BUT GOD IS GREAT

  • sad very sad cause a truely good guy rip

  • God Bless jesse marunde.....R.I.P

  • Sad, very sad!

  • He seemed really cool. I thought he had all the potential in the world. I remeeber him in his first WSM and thinkthis skinny kid wouldn't represent the U.S. very well. And then a few years latter he was giving Mauriez All he could handle and taking 2nd place. I know he would have won if he hadn't died so young.

  • I cant belive he died.. i mean he didnt have excessive bodyfat and looked more athletic then many other strongman competitors.

I will always remember this great man.

  • Damn he died? I seen his video not to long ago

  • The fans in germany say good bye!

    R.I.P. Jesse

  • This sux I was soo hyped that Jesse was to win it this year... I will miss his will power and drive to be the best

  • Even though i never knew him. I know he was Unconditionally loved but his family. My Condolence to your loss. He will never Be Forgotten.

  • The way I feel you woulda thought I knew the guy personally. Like many others just watched him on WSm and grew to love him. Madd respect. R.I.P.

  • Like so many others I am just finding this out.I met him out here a few years back and had a wonderful conversation with him so to his family I will say he was a wonderful young man and human so your loss must be great at this time but while his time was short his impact was great and will be lasting among his brothers in iron we do not forget

RIP Jesse and to his family live with his strength to carry you forward

  • wow.. jesse was one of the people i looked up to i just found out he passed, and i cant believe it i remember seeing him on the met-rx worlds strongest man competetion for the first time,i can safely say that if he were today he would for one day be the worlds strongest..

  • We won't forget you. RIP and thank you.

  • R.I.P Bro!

  • what is the song that began at 6 minutes?

  • nothing else matters, metallica

  • sad news man - i see on another vid some loosers trying to dis him for being a poser caring about his looks smack talk etc - people must realise sport needs personalities!! bodybuilders and strongmen are percieved as meatheads with no personalities. - RIP jesse you were a good competitor!

  • What a waste! A guy with such potential and a definate WSM in the making! Feel for his family as his Birthday approaches, RIP

  • Fucking speechless...

    RIP man

  • R I P

  • poor guy i wished he dnt die........sobs.....

  • can some one pls tell me what happened to him.....very sad....

  • He died of a heart attack during one of his workouts.

  • jesse marunde always wanted to be the wrlds strongest man he came second to poudzianowski but he will always go down in history as one of the strongest men to ever live in my book and to all who r watchi8ng this dont be too saddened cuz jesse is up in heaven he is in a much better place which he deserves

  • Ive been doing powerlifting for going on three years and, even though it is not exactly the same sport,I would get inspiration from watching Jesse.I still cant believe this.I am sad but for some reason more determined to stay true to what I do.Especially after watching this, his life is that inspiring.

  • Very very very sad. Jesse I hope you are at peace, and my prayers to your family. I thank you for the inspiration to train, and to be the best person you can be. You left behind a great mark.

    Thrash till death

    RIP Marunde

  • what is first song? SeanHatley

  • Hollow, by Pantera

  • Great video. A true lost to the sport, cut down in the prime of his life. BTW I like the way that video ends with a picture of Marunde doing the deadlift and John Paul Sigmarsson looking on. Very fitting.
