@jbump4 Jesse Marunde was a great strongman and a super nice guy. If Jesse would not have passed on when he did he would be a phenom right now in the strongman circuit He is still with us in spirit and alive in our memories. He will never be forgotten.
such a nice guy would definitely been a future champ!!! was so sad to hear he passed away such a likeable personality!! never met him but watched alot of interviews and obviously watched him on wsm always such a cool and nice guy! R.I.P Jesse Marunde your gone but not forgoten!!!
what weight was he pressing on the INCLINE-BENCH-PRESS at the start of the video? jesse was a great strongman...one of my favourites! nice man too + good family man! much missed!-how much weight was ("BOTH" INCLINE-BENCH-PRESSES in this video)?
what weight was he pressing on the INCLINE-BENCH-PRESS at the start of the video? jesse was a great strongman...one of my favourites! nice man too + good family man! much missed!
He was an amazing strongman and one of my idles. Sad that he had to go without ever obtaining the WSM title. The way he is able to handle those stones is amazing, he was always known for high reps.
damn i was in poland july 16 2005 (02:22) but in warsaw, if i knew i would have been there, jesse always had a big heart, sadly and poetically thats what he died of. R.I.P. JESSE
i don't want to ruin his reputation, but heart failure, isn't that what alot of professional bodybuilders get,you see what im gettin at? i'm not exactly whats happened someone please eloborate.
i sorta had a suspicion that working out TOO hard would actually do more bad than good after reading articles and studying the death of EUGENE SANDOW....feel sorry for what happened to Jesse. His death might actually confirm my horrible suspicion of trying too hard at weights. Guess i better ease when i lift now...
I wouldnt say you have to go easier, everyones body is different. The best thing you can do is listen to yourself and know your limitations. R.I.P. Jesse
true true everybody's body is different but still, after i read about the guy i was talking about its sorta intimidating ya know......all in all i don't want to be 6ft under the ground. i honestly love lifting, especially the way these guy train: stones, farmer's walk, pressing heavy tires, rope climbing with a lot of weight etc. I just can't believe it's possible to die because of the tough training.
The clip of Jesse doing 20 reps with 407 is inspiring and motivating. After the eleventh rep he looked like he was done and he somehow he fights through 9 more. shows his incredible determination. The guy is amazing. God rest his soul
he was my favorite lifter. God Bless him and his family.
he died of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is an extremely rare genetic birth defect which causes the heart to continously grow until it is too large.
I remember when i first found out about his death, and i was gloating about him telling my biology instructor that he is an incredible athlete, just so sad.
My heart goes out to Cassie and the kids (& the Bulldog)... Sorry I didn't call in person. He was a great guy... Fun and mischievous, incredibly gifted and will be missed... It saddens me even more because I have known too many Fallen Warriors... Rest in Peace My Friend....
So sad that he died, Jesse was a great competitor and a fantastic character. I can hardly believe that we won't be seeing him again. There will never be another fan favourite like him.
Jesse definitely would have become the World's Strongest Man the way he was competing the last few years. It's such a shame he died way too young. RIP Jesse Marunde.
Aye, I don't even know him, I saw this vid in some guys video blog. Too bad. My gym teacher got me started at weights, although im not too muscular. Hopefully someday, i will be :} RIP mate, you're in a better place now.
genetic cardio myopathy. He has/had a relative with the same I read somewhere. My 6-year old daughter has this condition. I am amazed he could train like this with a decreased heart output.Very sad indeed.

Very sad. i saw him at Mohegan Sun in conn. in april. He was an announcer there. He seemed like a cool guy. I thought his friend almost died that day (can't remember his name) when he collapsed deadlifting a car multiple times. It's crazy how hard these guys push themselves & don't make anywhere near what other athletes do. RIP
yea its sick these bastard over hyped soccer players in england get £50,000 a week for kicking a ball and we strongman work our ass off without recognition BUT GOD IS GREAT
He seemed really cool. I thought he had all the potential in the world. I remeeber him in his first WSM and thinkthis skinny kid wouldn't represent the U.S. very well. And then a few years latter he was giving Mauriez All he could handle and taking 2nd place. I know he would have won if he hadn't died so young.
Like so many others I am just finding this out.I met him out here a few years back and had a wonderful conversation with him so to his family I will say he was a wonderful young man and human so your loss must be great at this time but while his time was short his impact was great and will be lasting among his brothers in iron we do not forget
RIP Jesse and to his family live with his strength to carry you forward
