  • I love how they used absolutely no scientific method in this experiment, and based all of their observations on assumptions.......

  • She is hotttttttttttt

  • This is just stupid. I own a 1963 Cadillac and I used to have a 62. First of all the 62 Cadillac does not have a big block in it and neither does the 2002. Also the 62 is almost 18’ long, not 15’. Something is also wrong with the seat in the 62 and I wonder if the lap belt was even used. And of course the 2002 is safer. It has better seatbelts, airbags and its designed to withstand a crash.

  • 4:27 look closely and u see the seat in the old caddy is not even bolted down. The dummy just flew forward. Give the dummy a proper seat and a seat belt that actually doesn't tare off on impact and your looking at a very even match up.. or maybe not one at all.

  • man they ruined aa original classic caddie.....how sad

  • The only bad thing about the old car is the seat detaches.

  • ? Foot pounds is NOT FORCE!

  • @d46512 ? You are retarded!

  • @d46512

I know. These are probably the same folks who kant spell coreckly with there limited edumication, an r knot abel to figyur owt that wear just not aloud to queschin there nollage.

There are so many trick shots in this video and questionable methods being carried out...just the integrity of the old caddy is in question enough!

  • when the hell did 4.6 become a big block? thats a Very small block in my book

  • That's an extremely annoying way to edit the video, seriously. Kill it with fire!

  • '

in 1962 car is better stronger body / 2 stronger bumpers plus cheaper,,,

in 2002 car is the worse weak body / 2 awful weak bumpers plus dirty ripoff costy

  • @bestamerica Watch the video again...you didn't get it. In the newer car, you survive!!

  • catalinaumbert,

    '

okay thank but dont use a word - YOU - on me

  • @bestamerica That's funny! Iguess I should have used "someone". Sorry! English is my third language...I'll be more carefull.

  • @bestamerica You don't get it, do you? Newer cars are designed to crumple and absorb the impact, while preventing intrusion into the passenger compartment. The car is smashed, but you survive. In older cars there's no crumple zone; the passenger has a much, much higher chance of dying even if the car still appears to be in one piece.

  • th3Analyst,

    '

    okay thank explain,,,

dont use a word - YOU - on me,,,

    let explain about this car,,,

old car is better stronger than new car,,,

old car is like a real strong tank and cheaper,,,

new car is like a plastic breakable toy and higher RIPOFF costy

  • That '62 was hiding untold amounts of rust too, it looked beat up as hell so it was probably rusted through.

  • yeah yeah we allready know new cars are safer than old ones, that's no reason to destroy classics!

  • I have 2003 one, It's good to know it's not built for head-on collision with 63 one, I have to pick another year to head-on collision with!

And yeah, It have BIG block northstar 4.6 V8 Engine, not a chevy 427 small block engine.

  • 2:57

  • Why would you destroy that classic!

  • @RossEnzo Yeah pretty much a waste of two perfectly good Caddies. *Sigh*

  • Comment removed

  • A 4.6L Northstar is a big block?!

Then what the hell is a Chevy 350? That's roughly 5.7 liters, but it's considered a small block!

  • ...and yet, I'd take the 1962 Cadillac.....

  • @manoman0

As would I....I am glad they didn't do this to a '59 Cad..still sad to see a '62 go out like that

  • @scott93257 that's actually the point. thanks.

  • No. It's obviously not gonna be a ''pretty fair match up'' you stupid cunt. They are 40 years of technology apart.

  • Fifth Gear - Renault Modus v Volvo 940 Crash Test

  • Since WHEN did a 4.6 litre V8 become a big block?? I guess if a 4.6 litre (281 CI) V8 is a BIG BLOCK.. I guess a 454 Chevy is a HUGE BLOCK and a 500 Caddy motor is just unmeasurable haha this shows facts must be done by a group of first year auto mechanics students in high school!

  • @SippRider89 Yeah... I've got a 1996 Mustang GT. Did an engine swap, got a 4.6L big block now. It'll blow the doors of any 9.4L small block.

  • @Silvestris420

I just swapped my 2.2 L Big block out for a 22 Litre V12 small block... Love them small blocks :P

  • @SippRider89

and what would the scale of like a 768 CID V8 be? That would be like planetary :)

  • @scott93257 NASA would have to figure out that classification it's on a much larger scale than I can fathom hahaha!

  • @SippRider89 I am no expert but I believe that big block and small block does not reffer to its capacity bu to the actual size and type of the motor block.

  • @DJzSith wow... never would have guessed that... smh.. some people lol

  • Comment removed

  • Can't be a pussy to drive an old car. That dummy obviously just didn't have the balls.

  • Worst fucking show

  • Comment removed

  • I'll take the '62 Caddy over the newer POS anyday!!!

  • @outlawracer2229

I hear you there man... It looks like the 62 did a lot better surviving the collision...I guarantee it wouldn't take hardly anything to get that car roadworthy again...the 2002? Well trash it

  • @scott93257 Negative, they are both done. Forever.

  • @jagfn007

Yeah probably bent frames on both cars, I would have to agree there..Newer cars would be a lot safer with crumple zones and airbags... Shame to see the two cars go..and wow, your words mark finality :)

  • @scott93257 Agree. lets Trash these dam rice burners.

  • @scott93257 if you think that 62 survived the crash better.. you need to rewatch this video several times.. ALSO look up the National Institute for Highway Safety's crash between a 1959 Bel Air and a 2009 Impala if you think this is staged or fake...

  • @SippRider89

I know its not staged...But looking at the video again yeah I can see the old car was more destroyed than the new one...It looks like the front of the frame on the 62 was bent upwards...Ouch... It would be a lot safer to be in that new one for sure...with the crumple zone and airbags... At least you would live through it if everything did its job correctly...

  • It reminds me too much of mythbuster. Just a clone.

  • The main problem is that the 1962 Cadillac was still made with the dumb GM X-frame

  • the dummy looks like Eminem

  • The cold cadillac was rusted out, and in a very bad shape, put it up against a well maintained or a brand new one and then see.

  • They Forgot to mention the old car was rusted out... but oh well...

  • もったいない

  • oh wht da fuck!!!

  • yeah but the dude in the 62 was bigger pimpin till he died

  • old cars are shit, i have seen various classics against it's newest generations in a crash & if u were in the old 1 u will die

  • They're both in shitty condition

  • 50's too slow, do it like Fifth Gear and make them collide at 100+ mph!

  • Since when was a 4.6L v8 a "big block". Thats only around 250 cubic inches

  • Save you 5 minutes

A new cadillac is better than a 50 year old rusted out cadillac.

  • you would most likely die in both cars.. it doesnt matter about the front or anything bent on the inside, your organs going from 60-0 that fast is what kills you every time.. you would slowly die and bleed from the inside..

  • Someone tell that chick to get back in the kitchen and make us all an omelet.

  • Someone tell @TheDeJureTour to get back in the 50's where he would be a repressed homosexual who is afraid of strong women.

  • The old one did very well

  • Not sure what the point of the video is, but here's some advice:

    AVOID HEAD-ON COLLISIONS.

  • Takes a dummy, to know a dummy :)

  • Watch 3:21

the seats in the new car move in the accident!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I don't know who measured the 1962 Cadillac and came to the silly conclusion that it is only 15 feet long!! It's well over 18 feet long! To be specific, it is 222 inches long, and weighs 5000 pounds! The dummy driver's head was almost touching the roof before the crash, and those seats were certainly not properly fastened,(I suspect, purposefully) or were rusted out. So, of course the dummy would end up like it did after the crash!

  • @Cadillac1956 i agree with you, if been to banger races where they crash old caddilacs, and i think that i have seen headons with the same speed. But all of those people survived without any real injurys. And i know they use 4 or 5 point racing harnesses and helmets and stuff. But if you compare that to this car then you would think they sort of manupilate it to make the old car look bad.

  • OK the seats were rusted so they broke if i was to buy the older cadi reinforce the seats and put a 3 point harness in the older car the head would not be that way yes older cars are unsafe but do you see any one wearing a race gear on the highway no you do not i love older cars !

  • Why does this make me want to go to HornyHabits com!? Lol

  • I've owned 3 1961 Cadillac Coupe DeVilles...

  • This show is horrible nonreliant info not correct and Bullshit the tug of war was dumb of course your going to win when your in 4wheel drive and the other truck isn't same with with the jeep . . . Big block? Are you serious lol c'mon I don't see this show getting a second season

  • Here's one for ya................the cars are doing 50mph each........would you rather be in either one of those cars and hit a solid brick wall at 60mph or be in either one of the cars doing 50mph in the head on?

  • Rust handles impacts so well..... o wait

  • The newer Cadillac is NOT a big block.

  • this clip needs much more random jumpcuts and repetition

  • @BlackHawk2669 you forgot suspense

  • 1) No tests done to that clearly neglected '62 to make sure the frame and things like seat mounting bolts are intact and to original spec?

    2) Not a proper crash test dummy, and no dummy in the '02?

  • And the rust on the old ?

  • -

Needs more slow motion women running on a beach in bikinis clips. Maybe some inserted clips of hot twins on a trampoline in daisy dukes. Maybe some guns, explosions and beer.

  • 50 mile ? NO WAY they whbere going 50 miles each , 20-25 yes, 50 , no!

  • 3:40 - "Crash!" - O RLY?!

  • These tests are dumb, even if the car was restored there is still rust in the factory spot welds, the only way ti fix that would be to drill the spot welds out, clean the rust and re weld...but even though the metal has been subject to the elements for years and years. You need to find a car that has been in a bubble since it rolled off the assembly line.

  • LOL, a 4.6 liter big block??!?!?!?!

  • @gkward1981 it said 6.4 liter. Or 390 c.I.

  • Press 9 repeatedly to hear a crow lol.

  • any care from a junk yard would come apart in a wreck duh!!!! doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Why didn't they put a dummy in the new car too? or how bout one of those machines that measure the force in the new car. Totally unfair show.

  • I dont find this to be a reliable test because the old cady is unrestored and if you look closley you can see the flore pans are all rusted out which is probobly why the driver went threw the window. and the new cady is allready wrecked.

    *girls rule*

  • er...i'm a Brit and even I know a northstar V8 isnt a big block. shame on you stuntbusters.

  • I didn't know a 4.6 liter v8 was considered a big block. Fucking geniuses. Smh.

  • i hate seeing women in car shows, they just need to show their boobs and stay in the kitchen for god's sake! not to talk about cars

  • @28power68

    ROFL

  • @28power68 I like seeing women in car shows, if only for the fact that is makes a-holes like you have a stroke.

  • @28power68 Let me guess, you get slapped a alot and have no clue why. Idiot.

  • These guys make the Mythbusters seem like fucking geniuses.

  • @greenrolaids They ARE geniuses.Heh heh.

  • 3:00

  • Someone has no clue what a BIG BLOCK engine is.

  • You should have tested smaller cars..

  • oh and another thing, that kitchen is huge!

  • omg that caddy was so restorable!

  • stuntbusters: very original

  • 6.4 isnt a big block either

  • @testify221 you clearly don't know what your talking about. The car gods are sad with your statement.

  • @testify221 A 390 or 6.4 IS a big block. Not because of the cubic inches, but because of the fact that the engine block is, well, BIG! It's the same block used since 1949, when it was 331 cu.in. Put it beside a chevy 350 (small block) and you'll see a BIG difference in size and weight!

  • 6.4 isnt a big block

  • terrible camera work.......hold the camera still for 1 second idiot!

  • that blonde is juicy...i want her for a couple of hour.

  • I want my 5 minutes back!

  • Nobody wins in a head-on collision at 50 mph.

  • since when is 4.6L considered a big block?? thats 281cu in.

  • @1SirCarlton it said 6.4 liter.

  • @WhatTheHellsAGigawat the 2002 Cadillac not the 1962. he said the 4.6L Northstar was also a big block which is false.

  • @1SirCarlton oh wow, I missed that. Lol

  • God, this is one horrible show.

  • SPEED, this show fails if your hosts can do nothing but read off a script... Big block Northstar V8? HA!

    Jesus shit, y'all.

  • Why not an accelerometer and dummy in the new car? Lazy, sloppy, stupid. But hey, they're cute and easily excited so it's all good, right?

  • go to 3:10 for crash

  • Right....I have seen real life crashes and this is rigged, I vehicle with more mass and a solid massive steel frame will crush a new vehicle like a soda can. Ive seen all that plastic and Styrofoam bumper filling get decimated to a pulp while the other vehicle has much less damage. this is simple propaganda by the auto industry to promote selling vehicles that will continue to become more and more expensive to maintain and repair. The days of doing ones own tuneups are coming to a quick end.

  • @460SVT I Agree

  • i wanna take that chick in a cadi .. she is damn hot !

  • they gained my subscription to this chanell just for this video , even tough i afree whit all coments below

  • That's just plastic haha damn right. Cadillac doesn't use woodgrain, just cheap shit plastic. And nothing has changed to this date. Piece of shit GM

  • Stuntbusters is to Mythbusters what Fifth Gear is to Top Gear

  • @pandymoose Actually, I'd say it's the other way around.

Mythbusters and Fifth Gear = informative and entertaining for those who are into it, and the hosts know what they're talking about but still have fun.

Stuntbusters (judging by this clip and a quick Google search) and Top Gear = STUNTS AND EXPLOSIONS! Big spectacles to appeal to a wider audience, but totally uninformative and mindless.

  • Why destroy a classic 1962 Caddy? (wipes tear from eye).

  • By rednecks for rednecks.

    Just silly

  • 1. Terrible explanation of the physics of crumple zones

    2. "Foot-pounds of force"? Force is not measured in foot-pounds.

    3. Why don't they make this show except actually use people who know what they're talking about? Oh wait, that already exists. It's called MythBusters.

  • @blockheadface Agreed

  • @blockheadface Actually, there are a few units for force and while Newtons is the most common, ft-lb or lbf is the unit used in the English system.

As far as the concept of the show, you might want to see a whole episode before you judge the show and the hosts.

  • @imaginessa I did enough high school physics to know that force is a function of mass and acceleration, neither of which can be measured in feet or pounds. "lbf" is "pound force" (an inferior but acceptable unit for force), not "pound feet".

As for the show, perhaps you're right but after seeing this clip I'm not going to go out of my way to watch it.

  • @blockheadface If you actually listen to what they are saying, it says that "the collision generated 247,500 ft-lbs of force" as in work or energy that was generated, not what force the cars felt. and work is force times distance, which gives you lbs and ft. So before associate a show, it's writers, and hosts with stupidity, perhaps you should do a little research yourself, rather than relying on your vague memories of high school physics.

  • @ToddKreigh If they were talking about work, as you say, then they should have said "work" not "force". As I said to the previous reply, perhaps I was jumping to conclusions about the show but with the combination of poor wording, poor explanations and general redneckery in this clip I'm not convinced to make an effort to see the rest of the show.

  • @blockheadface Have you ever said g-force? because it's not actually a force, it's an acceleration and it is actually weight/unit mass. So things are not always as clear cut as your high school physics might make you believe. In fact many of the engineering equations that are used are based on assumptions and lots of higher math has approximations. Also, if you enjoy action films and all the car stunts in them, then you might be a "redneck"

  • @ToddKreigh Yes, I'm aware of "G force" - a way of giving people a rough idea of forces by measuring it in relation to typical weight force, but of course the mass is the same so it is effectively a measurement of acceleration. As for the assumptions and approximations, I'm not really sure what you're trying to get at. Regarding action films and stunts: It's mindless entertainment. I don't mind it for a little while but prefer something with a bit more substance and food for thought.

  • @blockheadface As for the show, I actually like it. And if you did take the time to watch it, you would see it's nothing like Myth Busters, other than the similar name. They are actually doing a lot of stunts and showing people how they are done. These guys are pretty badass. And that "hot chick" everyone keeps treating like a peice of meat, does a ridiculous stunt called the "can opener", check it out.

  • @blockheadface i like way your comment sounds and i partly agree. though;

"The foot-pound force (symbol: ft·lbf), or simply foot-pound (symbol: ft·lb), is a unit of energy and also a unit of torque. By definition it is one foot times one pound-force." - Wikipedia

  • This was predictable! We hear the same thing every time! New cars are safe, old cars are not blah blah blah! Now please stop destroying these classics!

  • This cliched editing exhibits all the irritating foley noise one can buy at a Post Production trade show. A bang/swoosh/crash and clang every time there's a pan or motion in the film. ENOUGH!! We aren't all 14 years old.

  • If crumple zones were designed back in the 60's, that Caddy would have torn the 2002 Caddy a new one due to being heavier and made out of steel.

  • What a poorly written/hosted/edited show. The explanations of what is actually going on are terrible.

  • Don't kill all classic cars!

  • They explained the physics terribly. Crumple zones spread the force of the impact over a longer period of time, reducing sudden momentum change. A reduction in impulse.

  • gee that was unexpected...

  • Since when has the Northstar V8 ever been considered a big block? Why is it so hard to find presenters or writers that understand the simple minutiae of basic car culture? Cool test, but stuff like this always irks me.

  • @elegy0t0 cause they hire some mario lopez wannabe and some hot chick with tits and ass.

  • @elegy0t0

    YES!!!

  • @elegy0t0

Eggggssss-zactly what I was thinking. Man I hate that.

  • you guys suck

  • Why do people keep doing this test and destroying a classic in the process. Makes me sad.

  • @WhatTheHellsAGigawat Ahahahha rusty old shitty cad doesn't make me sad.

  • @Petsku333 aren't you a clever girl.

  • R.I.P dummy... great crash though!

  • Nooo u killed a classic! :(

  • Another classic DOA...

  • First

  • 6.4 l v8 but only around 100bhp when new
