  • As a fellow car enthusiast I subscribed to your channel even though I don't own a BMW. Your videos are very informative with honest reviews. Well done. BTW I drive the poor man's BMW - 2002 Nissan Maxima 6 speed lol. It's in excellent shape like yours and still pulls strong. Definitely well built. Preventative maintenance helps too.

  • @denvernn Thanks for the support! Those Nissans are great cars.

  • Maintenance still isn't as bad as the 8series lol e39 m5 is a great car

  • in love

  • did you say you have a sensor problem or EVAP system leak.

meaning a cracked hose under the gas tank.

can you pass obd2 emissions ?

  • @zloben9000 I've had all these issues fixed- stay tuned for a future video detailing what I had done in january. It was the DTML pump and a vent valve.

  • Ryan, have you heard about the rod bearings needing replacement after 100k?

  • @E39Source There are a few things that would stop me from buying and e39 m5, but what concerns me most is the mpg. What is the best you have pulled from the engine?

  • @Armyofone898 HAH that's the LEAST of it! I average 15-20 cityz Highway: 60-65MPH is about 30MPG, 70-85mph is about 27MPG.

  • I appreciate you making these informative videos, I'm looking to purchase a e39 M5 very soon! Buy watching your videos, you've erased all doubt! Are you on M5 Board? Thanks again for showcasing this magnificent machine!!

  • @tyluv71 Thanks so much! I'm glad these videos are helping people. I am on M5Board, I think my username is RyanKnowsTech. I'm not an active member though (right now) :)

  • This actually doesn't seem much more expensive than my 540i M sport to take care of.

  • @m19921992 Yeah it's probably less than 20% more.

  • But I'm going jaguar XJR next . After test driving one of those I fell in love . So much power and speed from a super luxury car . It's perfect for me . 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds . All while watching tv or a DVD in almost silence . Shame bmw designer has gone away from the aggressive yet elegant shape .

  • @pornkingdingaling The XJR is nice, but I LOVE the elegant and aggressive design of the F10 5 series, even the 535 is fantastic!

  • Yeah I expect your correct . It was a questionable article that I read . I've had both my bimmers for 7 years and only this year it's cost me £500 in repair . Break pipes had corroded . Did you know the E39 was rated one of the best saloon cars in the world . Tho I'm really not liking the new shape bmw . Only 6 looks nice and 7 is a nice car .

  • Es on the cars from bmw HQ . I have read articles from the USA . Saying if you want one of these cars buy a European import as the quality is higher . That applies to any German car . ?

  • @pornkingdingaling I have never heard that, and I actually doubt that's true. All BMWs are assembled the same, just some come to the US and the rest don't. I have put $4,000 into my care recently, under general maintenance and upkeep!

  • I own a M5 and a 530 . Both are 2001 models . My 530 has 140.000 miles I have owned from 3 years old . And have had none of the issues you pointed out in your video . My M5 needed a key which was a dealer only costing me £150. And a head light as the self adjusting motor broke . But that's it . No vanos issues . Or any other sensors . But in England these cars do come straight from Munich . Where as USA there made under licence . Which means the components used are not as high quality as the on

  • The cons seem to out way the pros to me.

  • @dominicancheif117 Maintenance costs? It's not that bad unless you buy a lemon...

  • I usually love your vids, but this one is so shaky it's making me dizzy :/

  • @idkagoodusernameyet Sorry! It was hard to film and work around the car.

  • good video mmate, i been looking to buy this car for long time but just scared, of what it might cost to maintain, bt i feel more confident now should get one in feb or march, cheers man have fun with ur car

  • @lonruff2004 Glad to help, thanks for watching!

  • I fucking love you.! I want the 2000 or higher 330i sports package and even your other channel you are the only person that ive found on your tube who does videos that people need..

  • @TheePlace2VLog Haha thanks for watching, glad to help out!

  • I mean that it costs much much more then honda to maintain..

You have the car for long time and you got used to it..

Now a kid who drives a Civic... will pop on the spot seeing bills for M5...

  • @iwousa You get what you pay for. :)

  • To own this car, you need your own parts source, a friend mechanic and then you can afford nice girlfriend :-) Otherwise forget about the girlfriend...

If you are planning to buy this car and maintain it at BMW dealer then go and shoot yourself in the head !!! Unless you are rich.., but if you are.., then probably you are driving something else...

    Otherwise you

  • @iwousa Why? It doesn't need that much...

  • What's the issue with the "check engine light" ?

  • @iwousa Been on since 2005, it's a fuel tank pressure sensor. It has no effect on how it runs, and is causing no harm, so I'm not shelling out the $1,600 just to turn the light off!

  • Having trouble with that engine? I think you should put a Chevy 502 Big block V8 engine in that little car :P

  • @xMegaaStorm Engine trouble? When did I say there was engine trouble? I hate Chevy/American products. Nothing surpasses German craftsmanship. :)

  • @E39Source Just having a friendly joke :D

It is a great looking car.

  • @xMegaaStorm Haha, thanks then!

  • I love your interior, it is a perfect mix with the black and silver leather alongside with the aluminum on the door and dash. I am loving your car more and more as I watch these videos to the point were the only thing I would change would have to be the colour of the vehicle and I mean sure that's a nice blue and all but I would much prefer a gun metal grey. What about you, is there a certain colour you would of liked the car to be?

  • @SILEXon I like the Gun metal and carbon colors too! I also really like the Imola Red and Bluewater metallic, but I'm very content with what I have.

  • Thanks a lot for that movie, M5 is my dream car and its hard not to think about buying one when the prices are so low (compared to few years ago;)). Ofcourse how the car holds up depends a lot on the driver, the thing that's stopping me the most from buying one is the fact that I KNOW I wouldn't be able to "take it easy" with 400hp V8 ;) How would you describe your riding with it, do you use its full potential often? Keep the vids coming, as of now I'm your subscriber ;)

  • @Gladki007 Thanks! I've never been able to use this car's full potential. You'd need a closed track for that. ;) With sport off it's a calm and comfortable BMW 5 series with comfortable leather seats and a great sound system. With Sport on, it's all of that with the mind of a serial killer! I think it's the perfect blend of a luxury sedan and a raging sports car!

  • @e39Source I have a 2003 525 I, Oxford green with tan leather interior. These really are great cars.

  • @BobbyOhearn Nice!! Great car!

  • Your Vanos sounds just like my 540 which is also 02/2000. Thanks for the videos.

  • @GETaYOTA Thanks so much for watching, nice car! Feel free to post a car walk-around/tour video as a response if you like!

  • 25mph and a 4th gear? It's always first gear for me :) I rarely use 4th gear in city at all, since it's for 100-125 mph :D

  • @5Qu1Z33r Lol I keep the revs down to save gas.

  • @E39Source I get 11 mpg at best around town, but that's what to be expected from a 400bhp monster :D

  • Would you recommend a 2001 BMW 740i for a first car? I really want a BMW but want to avoid the high maintenance fees. Would the service be any less with the 740i than the M5?

  • @abnercus The E38 7 series is VERY similar to the E39 5 series. It would probably cost as much to maintain as a 540. The 740 is a great car, I'm sure you'd love it. For me, it's a tad large and heavy with less sportiness though.

  • Hi Ryan, excellent channel and alot of helpful information about the M5 E39.

Only one point that should be added in my opinion, the fuel filter should be replaced at a certain milage, to prevent a fuel pump failure which is alot more expensive than a fuel filter replacement.

  • @M5power507bhp I was going to bring that up, but I forgot! Mine was done in 2007. Thanks!

  • A very good video, answears alot of questions i had about the car.

  • @JAF7584 Thanks for watching!

  • "Mine was leaking, so I had to replace it." I wonder why..

  • Amazing how well you've kept it. Impressive.

I think you have to get rid of the apple sticker....... lol.

    =^_^=

  • @banging23456 It was dirty in the video, but it's super easy to clean. It'll stay for a little bit always.
