That is weird because I've seen those LR defenders go over crazy climbs. Something isn't right there, maybe gunning it right at the worst place (common mistake made as soon as their vehicle its a tough spot... instead of staying steady with the throttle and good wheel placement). The Kia is a good little vehicle it seems. I would have to drive over that camera man; form the cheap sounding zoom lens clicking, the weird angle, the goofy laughter... born to annoy.

The defender need proper mud terrain tires. The sorento is the better off road than expected, It has a LOW RANGE and ETC helps going on slippy surface with low grip tires.

i totally agree with you. this vid is not to put down defender in anyway! i would personally choose one for heavy duty offroading (even if those new wranglers are not bad at all!!) anyway, the video is just for giggles. its funny to see the def struggle, and a sorento do way better than expeceted. well, at least from what i expected: when i hit that slope i really didn't think i'd make it! especially with the tyres i have (pirelli scorpion).

I have a Sorento in the USA and it has low gears and limited slip rear diff. And its one of the best SUV's i have owned and driven off road, I spend more time pulling other people out of the muck then i have fun.
Right on! I also have confidence in my Sorento's off road capability! I knew Sorento had better ground clearance than RAV-4 or CR-V, and since I was looking for something more than a winter snow mobile without spending senselessly... and this has been accomodating my wildlife photography hobby quiet well. Glad I got this!
