  • lool i live in bristol aswell

  • i get 16.74mb/s here through wireless, i wonder how much i can get with lan...

  • South Africa is still on 10MB... sigh.

  • @CamoPeng

    india is still on 256kbps

im not indian i just know sum1 in india with it

  • @CamoPeng 10mb/s is still quite fast. Think yourself lucky. Some of my friends can only get 4Mb/s and they live in the UK...

  • Hope this helps people.

Remember it's not all about pure speed, users should thinks about downtimes, off-line times, other problems, how long these take to get fixed and the price of each Mbs.

Some providers mat have a cap, limit ,on the amount of data you can download/upload as well.

Also consider how much spying the provider may do,

  • @Films4You also spike moments (when everyone's using a pc) then ur connection could lose some speed, but ofc u know this i think

  • @DemonTraven Yep, ISP will have one million and one excuses for not giving the speed people pay for.

Although IMHO Virgin Media is better than some others I've heard about.

  • @Films4You well i don't live in the US and we have like 4-5 internet providers, and if you want a fast connection you're going to pay around 70-80$ for 50mbps , i think 100mbps is around 130-140$ each month

  • @DemonTraven I'm in the UK,

Virgin Media at 10Mb's or thereabouts. Check out my speed test video's

  • oh yeah forgot to mention the 100mb deal from virgin they recon its £45 just on its own

if you just have the 10mb then get the 20mb the 10mb deal if you go over there 1 gig download will get throttled to 3 mb all day the 20mb if you go over 1 gig gets throttled to 5mb for one hour

  • 50 mb is throttled on virgin if you have a package deal ...if you just have the 50mb broadband on its own then its not throttled

  • I get about 6mb of download and 210kb of upload, so can't complain but I am eagerly waiting for their 100mb to come to my area.

  • Virgin Media doesn't have the title of fastest broadband in England anymore. A service provider called Fibreband is doing 100mb in Bournemouth. Fibre right to the home.

  • @luanswan2002 bournemouth lol, virgin media have said before the year of 2010 is out virgin media 50mbps customers will later receive new free modems which will be capable of speeds up to 400mbps,

  • @MrJascol You don't know what you're talking about. VM isn't true fibre optics because the fibre optics only runs to ur green box down the the street. From there on its copper to your house and that will limit potential speeds. Fibreoptics can do 1GB a second or more if it wants, it's up to when the service provider wants to provide these speeds. No place in the UK is better for broadband than Bournemouth. Google Fibrecity.

  • @luanswan2002 go look it up google it you numpty

  • Bristoljammer how far do you live from the exchange?

  • holy cow i've only been getting 380kb/s as my max download speed for the past 3 years :S Finally fiber optic is out in my area and i'm going to get this package.

It's £38 a month for me withouth a virgin phoneline.

    I hope I get the full 50mb.

Right now im with talk talk, I pay for 8MB and i'm only getting 3MB...lets hope that's not the case with virgin media.

    + i got a question, can I cancel my contract If I don't get atleast 45MB?

  • @TNTechHD You can't cancel the contract if you dont get the download speed specified. I think you can cancel it within the first few days but I am unsure, I looked through the Virgin Media site for information but was un-able. I hope this helps. :)

  • i get 49.9 with the 50 meg it good for the money

  • 50mb O.O

    I CAN DOWNLOAD GAMES FOREVER

  • Almost every speed test video I see from virgin media customers they get right next to what they pay for. I got to get off BT... I get 3.5mb down my line and if that isn't worse enough an insulting 5KB limit max for torrents at peek times.

  • nice man i wish i had that

  • @batasauk it's "UP TO 50 MBS" try speed testing at around about 8 pm and u will get 50 mbs

  • whats the point in a 50 meg line if most places that you can download from won't even allow the kind of transfer speeds that 50 meg can push

  • So you can download multiple things, continue to work / Surf.

Trust me, whenever I go to a friends house now, Even their 10MB feels so slow!

  • @Lee2k4 ever heard of torrents? megaupload?

  • mother fucker!!

  • I will hav this soon

  • this is about broadband not OS.

  • wow fuck mac you cant even customize them fuck them up the bum hole the so called thing you call "operating system" is fucked up you have some shitty ass graphic cards that thing you use wont even be able to run minesweeper so fuck on it

  • I live in Leeds got it stalled last week and constantly receive at least 51meg down and 1.6meg up.

  • how many do you pay for 50mb I pay like 300 dollars for 4mb in colombia haha

  • i think the 50mb service is about £35 a month

  • £28 with phone line £38 without phone line

  • What are the wireless speeds like on 50mb using N band?

  • i have my router in the same room with virgins wireless n router and get the full 50 meg connection, however my mac on the floor below gets like 10meg... thick walls i guess.

  • this makes me orgasm

  • VM FTW

  • i recently got 50meg from virgin installed, but every few days it drops connection( no internet) i have to unplug the modem to get it to work, but when it does work i have just download a file at 6 meg a sec so its ok apart from frequent drop offs, got another engineer coming tommorow, fingers crosse they sort it.

  • Hey i get teh same prob but it has a VERY EASY fix apparently the grey box then installed one of the contacts were loose causign drop outs!

  • it seems there is a lot of connection drop problems with 50mb service.did the engineer sort it out for you?

  • i downgraded back down to 10meg, with the 50meg modem, was still getting drop offs, engineers dont know what it is. i got them to put a scientific atlanta modem in and its not done it since. Its either thier 50 meg modems or what they connect to thats the problem. I had 2 modems 2 routers lots off calls, sorry people.

  • 50mb depends purely on the upload speed ur given by the website so if theyre downloading at 20 then uve still got 30mb left, 50mb is for a huge family of 5 say a dad checking email a son on xbox live a daughter on facebook and a mum uploading her porn. 50mb will rarely be obtained by one person on one site the website will be able to but its limited incase more people join, it also depends on server location that xilo server did get me my 20mb\s at 0.03 ping but in us it was 2 mb at .1 ping

  • hahaha, MUM...... Made me laugh.

  • you should get 50 meg virgin media use fiberoptic

  • OMG !!

  • i can't get cable in my area, i live on number 36 where i live and virgin ses they only go up to number 34 :(

  • LOL owned

  • how come u only got 43mb?

  • dick head when they say its 50 mb they mean its up to 50 mb not exacly fking 50 mb! but any way thats what i thought first. the speed goes up and down every mili second goes to 50 goes down to 40 some time 30 back up to 50 u undrestand me my friend.

  • This is Finally available in my area, im getting it this Thursday. We have 5 computers, a ps3, a phone and a psp connected to it, so it will be a great help :D

  • we have the same about plus ps3 plus mobiles laptops etc.. and I can tell you it really WILL help.....

  • Unless you are running s business you do not need the 50Mb

  • What a stupid comment. Just because YOU can't see the reason for a 50Mb connection, doesn't mean others don't, and i'm not talking about business owners either.

I use a lot of video services online, a typical film at 720p resolution takes up 7Gb and sometimes more, with an ADSL connection these take about 6 hours to download! Familys of 4+ members who all have their own PC's, games consoles etc are going to need a 50mb connection as standard, everything is getting bigger/better quality.

  • @sirloin3000 I have ADSL and down 1080p in 6 hours of 12gb.... my max speed on the test is 8 mb/s... I got SKY MAX unlimted also.

ADSL is fine, I'm a gamer anyway so it is ok even on dial up..

  • @Avataryoutuification hahaha :D 8mb/s and in 6 hours? lol i download 1.2mb/s a 15 gb file and it finishesh in 4.5 hours u dumb fuck

  • @AXooooXA My max you dumbfuck.

Thats the maximum speed I can get but due to traffic and downtime I get an average of 554kb/s

Read the fucking thing you retard.

  • dum ass.....

  • I don't understand why people can't grasp it, Virgins say its "Unlimited Downloads" well it is they are not restricting the AMOUNT you can download, they just have a STM in place to reduce speeds.

Even with that STM you can still download as much as you want a month and 50 meg has no stm atm.

  • My Max download speed from microsoft is 2.5mb

  • u testing it at the right time, yes its possible to have that connection okay.. BUT! a big BUT! if the service says 'unlimited'.. think again... if u download more than a certain amount between the hours of 11am and 9pm then the connection speed drops by 75%! so if ur on 50 meg, it will be 16-17 meg if over download limit. but its UNLIMITED!? yeah fucking right! fuk u virgin.. ur lossing customers. CUNTS

  • you've got it completely wrong. 50mb is the only package on virgin media that does not get monitored at all. so think again before talking.

  • do web pages load fast as fuck?? please reply

  • hes running windows 7 :P

  • I have the 50MB broadband from Virgin Meida. It has a brilliant download speed but a poor upload speed of 1.5MB it's not bad but it could be a little higher!

  • In Stafford if you have a 20Mbps line with them a good average is between 2Mbps and 4Mbps. We even went a month of pretty much constant 250Kbps speeds. The amusing thing is they tried advertising a 50Mb line to us!

  • What upload speed do you get and is the upgrade free for 20mb users?

    I'm still waiting : |

  • 9ms is very respectible. But its expensive and virgin media sell your info.

  • MINE IS 150 KB/S SO STFU LOL

  • I always get 6000KB (6 Meg Bytes)+ from Rapidshare and Microsoft using a donwload manager

  • CHRIST 6MB!!!! ive got Be 24mb and im only gettin 400kb max out of those sites. fortunately im switching to virigin tomorrow

  • Please Please avoid ADSL Virgin, its totally different to this and you will be tied into contract for 12mths! You will thanks me for this.

  • its fibre optic, dunno if it changes anything

  • It theoreticly makes it fast. Just, that is really expensive (£51 a month) and its virgin so they sell your information.

  • ??? its been great for me so fast

  • @Bristoljammer thats the info i just needed !

6 mega bytes per son from rapidshare would be awesome !

  • man am so switchin service

    thank for the proof

btw whats the speed when downloading ? mine is 500kbs-700kbs sucks

  • my download is the same as your upload :( Fastest I can get where I live.
