Somehow the raw quality and the inherent melancholy of the 94 version of this song is what makes it great. This version while technically better loses some of that. Same goes for Black Winter Day, though Tomi's voice is majestic. A majestic beast if you will.

Damn you @Blissel, for uploading this. I thought I had all of the Amorphis CDs out there. Now I have to buy this one. And @DarkWolfen, that Orphan riff is a really nice touch. It's good to see that they didn't just re-do the originals, but thought to add something else new. I love this band.

I think it was dumb to "remake" these classic songs where Pasi used to be the vocalist. Let's face the facts. Tomi is the light side of Amorphis where Pasi the dark. Tomi can't grasp the same depths of anger and aggression in his vocals as Pasi did. The same goes for Pasi. He could not sing the songs Tomi does. Tomi can go to more dark and Pasi to more light but there are limits for both of them. This just doesn't sound half as incredible as in Elegy.

@SinfulOcelot I would disagree, if you've ever heard "Leaves Scar" from the Eclipse album you could see that Tomi can really get to grips with the band's darker more aggressive side with his vocals. Similarly the latest album really shows off his range (but it does for better or worse lean much more towards the mellow than many of their earlier works).

@Nightcreature12 Well it's just my opinion but I still think Tomi J. can't grasp the same melancholy, coldness and agression that Pasi does. Then again, Pasi has been working with this aspect a lot in several bands along the years but that doesn't have anything to do with my opinion. And I don't deny Tomi's vocal range, I still think he can't do the dark stuff as well as Pasi does. Also, I think the singer from Poets of the Fall has way better range than Tomi.

Tomi Joutsen has an incredible voice, he's the best thing that happened to Amorphis in a long time, every album with him is great! Love this band!!! They are all great!

@leecherchela I don't wanna tread on what you said because Amorphis are indisputably incredible, but I properly prefer this to the original, I think there was a lot of distortion and questionable vocal techniques by comparison to this. But still, great song.
