Mexico really has to be one screwed up place for its people to risk their lives to come the US.
I do admire Mexicans for being proud of their heritage, but they should really be ashamed of their government for not even allowing to have the hope to succeed in their own country.
The US has the sovereign right to protect its borders by restricting illegal crossings. So I think it is wrong to lay all blame on the US on this one.

I doubt it. As far as I know, it's not a government backed organization. They have no obligation to anybody. Why would they want to do something like back ground check that only hurts themselves and give them no benefit?
No, there's no background check or government affiliation. Its all a volunteer organization consisting of members of all races who share a common goal of protecting and securing the border.
They should enforce the laws they already have and prosecute the employers that hire them. It is the good "old boy's" conservative values that wants slave labor so they can make bigger profits. Profits are all that matter!
By the way, those temp worker permit for the farming industry already exists, in limited numbers. What most people are talkig about and against are walk-in u-d workers which has(as it's described) no document at all, and unlimited pass.
it's not that simple, employers will always perfer the cheapest employees. until mexico has an economy that doesn't drive it's working masses out, there will always be illegal inmigration. we need to develop a reliable visa granting/temporary worker system. which raises the question, how to tax inmigrants income accordingly and efficiently while still making sure they have the services and quality of life they deserve for a period of a few years.
It's simple, if what people are saying is true that we don't want u-d workers. It's not simple because at the same time we want them.
We can't have it both ways.
If the authority hand the employer a penalty of $10,000.- per each worker they hire, they would still take the risk? If they enforce it, it'll work. But at the same time, we'll expect a big price hike in every aspect of our life.
Everything else, like building walls will be just a waste of money.
There's an easy solution to this. Penalize the compnay, people that hire them and it already has been tried.
Example of this, INS raided a meat packing company, arrested many un-documented workers then deported. Next thing you know, congressman in the area stepped in then reversed everythig as if nothing happened.

If what you say is true it dosent matter. The treaty of guadalupe hidalgo was a treaty between the Texas and Mexico. It becomes meaningless after we annexed Texas.

So what is your suggestion? The simple facts are these. We do not have the resources to take all of the worlds poor--we can not do it. it's not that simple, employers will always perfer the cheapest employees. until mexico has an economy that doesn't drive it's working masses out, there will always be illegal inmigration. we need to develop a reliable visa granting/temporary worker system. which raises the question, how to tax inmigrants income accordingly and efficiently while still making sure they have the services and quality of life they deserve for a period of a few years.

There's an easy solution to this. Penalize the compnay, people that hire them and it already has been tried.
Example of this, INS raided a meat packing company, arrested many un-documented workers then deported. Next thing you know, congressman in the area stepped in then reversed everythig as if nothing happened.
