If you are a drummer with a fair amount of skill, it's very difficult to stop yourself from playing lots of fills and showing off. The discipline needed to play like Phil Rudd is what the detractors don't understand

i would like to see any of you fagass drummers to play at the same fucking tempo for 3 minutes without a fucking metronome (not even talking about live performances for let there be rock, which he plays the same shit for 30 minutes...)

@chorthithian It's really not that hard to do. He has music to play along to, so it's like having a metronome. Even without music, it's one of the most basic drum lines ever. Don't get me wrong, I like AC/DC, I own every album. But I'm also a drummer who's been able to play AC/DC music since I was nine years old. AC/DC drum lines are as simple as it gets. If you want truly amazing drumming, look up Mike Portnoy, Marco Minnemann, Mike Mangini, or Buddy Rich.

only thing that matters: you will move your head.

this guy plays for the song, acdc needs this groove and nothing else, this is the magic. if mike portnoy or neil peart was the acdc drummer I bet that he will play like rudd.

may be you can play a lot of paradiddles, can you play a strong and solid groove to make me shake my head?

I would love to attend a Phil Rudd drum-clinic. This guy has so much balls, he would play the same beat straight for hours . So much better than all that faster-higher-ostinato-50million-pedal-polyrhythmic-crap that adds nothing to the music.
