Does this help soundproof the closet, or is it just like a 'sound treatment; thing? I wanna know because I used to record into a digital recorder in a closet in a house with EGG CARTONS on the wall, lol - that worked for then but now I'm in an apartment and I have a condenser mic, preamp, etc. and I don't want my neighbors to hear me spittin loud raps and I don't want to hear footsteps or sounds from outside in there.
same, sound goes through the floor above and below me easily in my closet (living in an apt) and my neighbours easily hear me and they sleep during the day so i cant record or they'll complain and get us kicked out, so if anyone knows what the best thing to do in my situation for deadening the sound and also treating the closet for a nice recording for hip hop (if possible) lemme know, thanks!
@DaequanMusic1 This my house so its no big deal at all. For those that are in an apartment and will need to move someday use very small thin nails to put the blankets up and use the spray glue. You can rip the foam down easy and wash the walls lol Get that security deposit back you feel me lol
@jamesal Not that I've noticed. I actually like how I sound in my home booth more than when I'm in the big studio. I say that because when I started rapping I always wanted that strong deep voice that made heads turn. I feel like the big studio sucks the bass out of my vocals .... or it could be mental lol
@adamstrife ill try it out then thanks! i have a friend that wants to get me producing for him and hes looking for the same strong sound in his voice( hes rapping too) I'm going to get an audio interface and get started thank you for the advice! :)
@adamstrife eh i just went to a community college with a really good broadcasting major. the tough me everything from midi with protools to audio production with movies and even some Foley
@949PENGUIN measure your closet and I'll let you know. You want enough room for you and the mic to fit withough feeling cramped. The room your looking at in this video is roughly 5X7 feet
@ArtemisApollo26 this doesn't sound proof the room. It reduces the natural echo you hear in the room. That lets you record nice clean vocals or instruments
love the beat in back btw so will foam from wal mart work ok and for the packing blankets where is the best place to find them? k thx awesome vid it is very helpful
@adamstrife i found it in ebay for 45 dollars for 45 sq ft. imma go with that and the blankets that you have and that should be enough to soundprooof my room. thanks bro
so how thick are those packing blankets? i want to buy some just not how sure on the thickness of them. i really want to make sure that they can get the job done. some people have told me so but i want to make sure they are good before purchasing them, and since you have some i would like to get your opinion about them. i heard they are also called moving blankets
SEE THE THING IZ ABOUT MY BOOTH IZ, IT ECHOES REALLY BADLY AND I WANNA STOP THAT ECHOING. I JUST HAD CARPET PUT DOWN IN IT AND IT HELP A HELL OF A LOT BETTER. I JUST NEED 2 KNOW WHICH KIND OF FOAM I SHOULD GET AND HOW MUCH SHOULD I GET. I WAS THINKING THE PYRAMIDS OR THE WEDGES. BUT I NEED YOUR HELP BE4 I DECIDE WHAT I NEED. OT REALLY SURE ABOUT THE PACKING BLANKETS, I'D RATHER GET FOAM PUT ON THERE 2. ACTUALLY MY BOOTH IS ABOUT THE SAME SIZE AS YOURS JUST A LITTLE SMALLER
@rashaud352 oh ok well as far as I know the wedges or pyramids don't make a difference. But remember I'm not a pro I'm just a dude who made a booth in his apt.
HEY HOW MUCH DID YOU SPEND ON YOUR STUDIO FOAM? I WENT TO THE SITE AND I WANNA ORDER 20 TILES BECAUSE IT COVER 160 SQ. FT. I WANNA BUY Product #NC-134 GO TO THE SITE AND GO TO THE PYRAMIDS YOU'LL SEE WHICH ONES I MEAN. I DON'T KNOW I MEAN, ARE THEY GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME TO USE? OR AM I JUST WASTING MONEY, MY STUDIO BOOTH ISN'T VERY VERY BIG, MAYBE ABOUT THE SIZE OF AN APARTMENT BATHROOM. I JUST WANNA MAKE SURE I GET THE RIGHT STUFF BE4 I GO RUN OFF SPENDING MY MONEY ON THE WRONG PRODUCTS
@rashaud352 I don't think the foam works as good as the blankets but thats just me. It sounds like your room is a good size to use. the foam I got is on musicians friend website item #422602
You gave some good advice but, you still had exposed walls which we give out echos. Also you covered your booth in a way that did treat bass which helped, but you didnt put some sort of insulation behind the wall carpets and in turn what that will do is still make some frequencies bounce back giving you some harshness in the vocals around 2.5khz.... Lastly you suggest no more than a mic that is 150 dollars.... Its not about money. It depends on different polar patterns. and coloration buy wisely
@ljuice27 Your best bet is to get a rug to put on the floor. Like an industrial carpet. Walmart has them on their website and sells 5x7 carpets for $17
@Lextant go to the musicians friend website it cost me $59 for 32 12X12 squares. It sounds like your paying too much until you shop around a bit then you see its a good deal. Don't forget that spray cuz the stuff that comes free with the foam will F'up your walls.
do the packing blankets really work? i got a vox guard but was thinking about hanging up packing blankets to really kill the natural reverb

@1nfern0man Yea it does you can just pull the foam down and wash the wall

@1nfern0man Worse case scenario You'd have to use a hair dryer to heat it up so you don't ruin the foam when pulling it off.
