  • This is absolute crap ....it's like The Odd Couple back from the grave.

  • Mike Love was the lightweight of the group. He loved sappy lyrics... and in many ways diminished Carl's music... i.e. "she'll have fun fun fun..." etc. Mike has always been a self promoter, wanted to take the credit for much of Brian's work and was openly opposed to most of the music in Pet Sounds. I'm with sumptacular... you can hear Dennis and Carl groaning in their graves.

  • Erm, Mike wrote the lyrics to most of their hits. He was responsible for the positive, optimistic, sunny side of the band. The lyrics to "Fun, Fun, Fun" - they're great. Brian is no lyricist. People seem to forget that Tony Asher wrote the lyrics to Pet Sounds, Van Dyke Parks to Smile etc.

  • if you listen VERY closely at 1:55 you can hear Carl AND Dennis Wilson rolling in their graves.

  • Didnt Carl tour along with Stamos. Remember Kokomo and all of that stuff...I dont think you know what Carl Wilson was like. Seems like a very nice, caring guy not negative like you imply.

  • Im a fan of Carl and Dennis and AL and Even I have to Admit that w/o Mike Love They wouldnt have had their initial sound at all. But I think That Some of the things Mike Love has done are getting to be pretty unforgivable. He Waited Until Both Wilson Brothers were dead to sue Brian claiming Co Authorship of half the songs. Mike Love is Venomously jealous of Brian Wilsons magical musical abilities. Shameless Egoist who can barely play a tambourine and has the nerve to say he co-wrote the music

  • I don't understand all the hateful comments on this video.

  • Good Timin from the LA Light Album perhaps The Beach Boys best album!.

  • LA Light Album is my favorite Beach Boys studio album from the 70's!!

  • @bluexer

Ur not of this planet i think!!

  • Actually Mike Love is a great performer and the best front showman of a legendary group. Always presentable and coherent, Mike Love is a great lead singer for the Beach Boys. When he dies, it really is curtains.

  • Love would be nothing if it weren't for the Wilson bros. Pacific Ocean Blue is being reissued! RIP Carl and Dennis.

  • Are you forgetting about Brian and Al?

  • No I love them all, including David Marks. Are YOU forgetting Carl? Brian has stated that it was Carl's ideas he liked right from the very start. Im only making the point that Mike is the lead singer of the Beach Boys, and a lot of fans talk as if they wish that wasnt the case. Are we forgetting respect where respect is due?

  • If Mike were never in the Beach Boys, I wouldn't lose any sleep. I've said this in many different places before, and I'll say it again, Dennis could've easily fronted the group. Plus, Mike gave us the corny pieces of crap Kokomo, Sumahama, Belles of Paris, Still Cruisin', the awful Summer in Paradise album, and more recently (ughh!) Santa's Going to Kokomo.

  • The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.

  • We could argue this ad nauseum, so let's just end it here before one of us, most likely me, starts a shouting match. I'll just say that I don't like Mike. Had he supported Brian during the SMiLE-era, had he not turned the group into an "oldies machine", had he not sued Brian and Al any opportunity he could make a buck off of them, etc., maybe I would like him better. All right, I'll shut up now. At least on this video.

  • But he is the lead singer of the band! arent you denying a big part of the Beach Boys sound? and not to mention image? Sorry. I agree to disagree.

  • The Beach Boys sound was all Brian.

  • lol you're crazy. Mike Love has been a crucial part.

  • Mike didn't like SMiLE. That's enough for me to not like Mike.

  • I dont like Smile but love the Beach Boys...who cares...

  • Have you even heard anything from SMiLE? Heroes and Villains? Barnyard,?Do You Like Worms?, Our Prayer? Cabin Essence? Wonderful? Look? Holidays? Wind Chimes? He Gives Speeches? Good Vibrations? Vega-Tables? Mrs. O'Leary's Cow? I Love To Say Da Da/Cool Cool Water? With Me Tonight? Old Master Painter/You Were My Sunshine? Surf's Up?

  • I have heard a lot of that stuff. I have a Brian Wilson on Pandora on my Iphone. Honestly I think most of it is bizarre and not "Beach Boys like'. There is clearly a difference between Brian's minions and fans who like the surfing/car/girls music. I dont know why BW fans are so obsessed with proving whatever it is their trying to prove..

  • without Brian Wilson. The Beach Boys had to resort to stealing songs from an ex con who lived out of dumpsters (MANSON) and they also derailed SMiLE which in hindsight was a HUGE mistake... Then, They resorted to using tracks FROM SMiLE to fill albums with after they wrecked Brians Mental health and he couldnt lay golden eggs for them unless they bullied him or threatened to fire him from his own band. Then they SUE him over and over and tried to keep SMiLE from being released. its ridiculous

  • SMiLE is the greatest musical achievement I have ever heard... I like it better than anything beatles or floyd or even pet sounds... it absolutely blows my mind how well made... lyricist or no, Brian Wilson is the best musician ever in my opinion... he brought these songs from another universe into this one and its like he was the only guy tuned in to what he was hearing... and he did it all SO young with no formal training... he is the best ever. Carl, Denny and AL all had HUGE talent as well

  • @stumptacular

I agree 100% with all of your comments on this page.

Dennis Wilson once said quote"Brian Wilson IS the Beach Boys ,we are all just his messengers".

  • Lets Not Forget That Mike Love would have also canned much of Pet Sounds If he had his way. he is a capitalist and not an artist. and if the ticket sales arent good enough he can always sue his vulnerable sensitive cousin who made him famous to begin with. along the way he can make a fool of himself at the R&R hall of fame induction, go to jail in a fight with a pimp over a hooker that he was "just defending" and deny any financial support to his illegitimate children that he abandoned

  • @stumptacular :D

  • oh and Stamos is great... for prepubescent slow pre-teen confused middle school children looking for a half hour of "Really cool" sitcom to escape the hell that is middle school... but thats about it... he certainly does not belong with the beach boys... but then neither does Love and he is on tour with no original members using that name ain't he.

  • Well...he's not exactly the only Beach Boy in the group. Bruce Johnston is there...and he sure loves being Mike's lapdog.

  • Nope doesn't sound like anybody is forgetting to give respect where its due except maybe you... Mike love already has too much credit for riding brians coattails - for which he then sued him. sounds like ascrodin is just tellin it like it is!

  • They are all great!

  • Thanks to John for being such a loyal friend to the Beach Boys for so many years. He made excellent contributions to the band.

  • Hey Brucie, how about losing this schizo mofo, Mike???? He is the original pain in the butt and I don't care if Dennis was a drunk, at least he wasn't out to hurt anyone!!!! Go to the old fogie's home where you belong, Mike and get the hey away from this old fart Bruce before you become like him!!!!

  • without Carl there is NO Beach Boys....Mike Love is a shameless, talentless stiff who couldn't buy himself a gig without the Beach Boys name attached to it

  • John Stamos Rocks.

  • No Wilson brothers, no Beach Boys!

And Stamos, please stop trying to imitate Dennis.

  • Actually, on this one twas Carl he was imitating. Stamos is an okay guy and a decent singer in my book. This is a song that'll sound good pretty much whoever does it.

  • this is "the beach boys"? lol, this is a joke...

  • have mercy...

  • JOHN WAS AWESOME!

  • STAAAAAAMOS!!!! have mercy.....

  • maybe you guys are used to the other guy singing it, and no doubt, singing it better than John as he is a professional singer and it is customed for him, but I dun think John did a too bad job on the song...

there's no need for comments such as, its clear why rebecca split; His singing's not bad, even if its not upto the professional singer's mark.

  • if carl can't sing this song, nobody should...sorry, the truth

  • awful

  • you know kokomo was a big hit for the beach boys, bruce johnston wrote "i write the songs"

  • Yeah I know. Kokomo and I Write The Songs were both enormous travesties that should've never been released. Its a shame that the 2 worst members of the Beach Boys (Mike's voice hasn't sounded good since 1975 and he hasn't written a good songs since 1973's Big Sur, Bruce is a good musician but writes horrible songs) are the ones still carrying on the name. Though I'm sure Brian and Al are making good money off of them through their shares in Brother Records.

  • I didn't even know John Stamos still existed. What's he been up to since full house was cancelled?

  • John Stamos is on ER now. He did two episodes last season and now he's joined the cast permanently. I've heard he's quite a hit with the ladies and has the given the show an eleventh hour boost in the ratings. It's nice to see those guys tackling one of the less obvious hits. I mean "Good Timin'" reached only #40 following the disco version of "Here Comes The Night" which reached #44. And it's a cool song albeit one Bruce Johnston pulled out of the vaults and dusted off.

  • ER is still on? Wow. I kinda like Scrubs better, though.

But "Good Timin" isn't really that obscure. I'd like to see then try to tackle "Cabin Essence", "Surf's Up" or "Feel Flows". I've never heard the disco version of "Here Comes the Night", but I really don't wanna hear it. Personally, I think Brian Wilson's band, even on their worst days, easily blow the Mike and Bruce show out of the water.

  • you didn't know he still existed?! wtf yeah...he's been on lots of tv movies, and he toured with the beach boys (as seen here) as their drummer for a while and does occasionally...but is pretty tied with ER right now. HE STILL ROCKS!! I love that man :D

  • Do you realize that you're talking about the same guy who ruined Dennis Wilson's "Forever"?

  • John Stamos has the most amazing voice I have ever heard. Him singing this song is AMAZING and even though the quality of the video is bad, his voice is INCREDIBLE in concert during this song.

  • I think considering that this video was made on a still camera using the video function that it turned out pretty good, although the audio fades in and out when I'm zooming in and out.

  • So much a "Dennis singing Good Timin' in 1979" imitation!

  • Sorry, CARL sang lead on, "Good Timin'".

  • Yeah on the record but I meant live, Dennis sang it few times.

  • Cheap Dennis-imitation....

  • Sorry, CARL sang lead on, "Good Timin'".

  • On the recorded one, but Dennis did sang it too at some live-performances and Stamos tries to imitate Dennis on-stage-singing behaviour.

  • It's clear why Rebecca split
