@mddale31 Taylor has sold about 900K albums since 2006. If you consider that 'not many', then you really high expectatons. 1st album also has a RIAA platinum certification.

However Taylor was never marketed as a country music artist his albums were put up against the Metallicas and it didnt work. Plus his abum that was released wasnt an album of new recordings it was all music he released prior to AI (which was gawd awful) Taylor shold have landed on CMT from the start maybe even put in a band a la Nickelback

His debut album was Certified Platinum, meaning the record company shipped out a million copies, but he sold 700,000 which doesn't make it a Platinum selling album. After the American Idol tour Taylor released his cd called Taylor Hicks. Then He Had a spring and summer Tour and a few fall dates. Alot of the shows were sold out. He is taking time of to write and record his next cd.
It is very possible. He is hopeing to have his new cd out in the fall. He will also have a live dvd called "Whomp at the Warfield". He also is going to release a cd with his music before American Ideal called "Early Works". So keep an eye out.
850 thousand CDs over 2 years is not a good # you know. High School Musical beat that in like 2 and a half weeks. And Chris Daughtry was already in a band. He doesnt count. He wasnt undiscovered talent.
Taylors album has been out since Dec. 2006, so not two years. He did sell in the top 12%. His album was not supported by his label or radio,one and the same sometimes. At times it was hard to find. For someone to sell that many albums with little radio play and no video, is very successful. Taylor had several bands before Idol, and Daughtry's band pre-Idol is not the one he has now. He was undiscovered talent as well, but he has been more highly marketed. Rock beats soul anyday!
But that jsut raises more questions for me. Why didnt they back him like they backed Ruben (also didnt do so hot) or Jordan? Or even Clay who didnt even win the show. What the hell is wrong with Taylor? I dont back him as hard as U do but I kinda like him. Why didnt they like him? No matter how U slice it, dude isnt sellin as many albums as he should.

I also like Simon and agree with about 95% of what he says, but I cant defend him for saying no to Daughtry. Guy's a star.
tthoe......no one can answer the question you have asked,and fans are puzzled too, but Taylor has a really great fan base and has been writing a new CD with some heavy duty writers. He is definitely best seen in concert and spent all of 2007 doing that. He will never be a "pop" star tho. I listen to him on internet radio where they play all of his songs including pre-idol. BTW, on Amazon yesterday, he is #2 under So. Soul and #17 and 18 under So. Rock and BlueEyed Soul after 503 days.

It is very possible. He is hopeing to have his new cd out in the fall. He will also have a live dvd called "Whomp at the Warfield". He also is going to release a cd with his music before American Ideal called "Early Works". So keep an eye out.

850 thousand CDs over 2 years is not a good # you know. High School Musical beat that in like 2 and a half weeks. And Chris Daughtry was already in a band. He doesnt count. He wasnt undiscovered talent.

Taylors album has been out since Dec. 2006, so not two years. He did sell in the top 12%. His album was not supported by his label or radio,one and the same sometimes. At times it was hard to find. For someone to sell that many albums with little radio play and no video, is very successful. Taylor had several bands before Idol, and Daughtry's band pre-Idol is not the one he has now. He was undiscovered talent as well, but he has been more highly marketed. Rock beats soul anyday!

But that jsut raises more questions for me. Why didnt they back him like they backed Ruben (also didnt do so hot) or Jordan? Or even Clay who didnt even win the show. What the hell is wrong with Taylor? I dont back him as hard as U do but I kinda like him. Why didnt they like him? No matter how U slice it, dude isnt sellin as many albums as he should.
P.S.
I also like Simon and agree with about 95% of what he says, but I cant defend him for saying no to Daughtry. Guy's a star.

tthoe......no one can answer the question you have asked,and fans are puzzled too, but Taylor has a really great fan base and has been writing a new CD with some heavy duty writers. He is definitely best seen in concert and spent all of 2007 doing that. He will never be a "pop" star tho. I listen to him on internet radio where they play all of his songs including pre-idol. BTW, on Amazon yesterday, he is #2 under So. Soul and #17 and 18 under So. Rock and BlueEyed Soul after 503 days.
