Another idea: I don't know if you have much rock out where you 4x4, but if you do, you may want to get rid of those steps. They cause you to lose clearance and will bend VERY easily if you catch it on anything firm. Invest in a good pair of rocker guards. Some also come with rails that can be used as a step. I run a set of BodyArmor Rock Rails. For around 200 bucks they were very worth it. The same would go for a good differential guard such as a SOLID Axle INC diff guard. Around $60 and worth it
Just a few tips: I invest in a locker for the front axle and then the rear (at a later time). Lockers will help tremendously. Also, while 31s are great (I ran them for quite a long time) a very good combination is 33" tires and a 3" lift. The real secret to 4x4 is you don't need TALL lift height, but you DO need springs that can articulate downward and you need tire size. Enjoy yourself out there!
Thx for the comments ppl! the jeep has been lifted 2.5 in (rough country), got 31x10.5r15 cooper discoverer STT tyres , and after a lot of playing around with ram air intakes , i ve finally installed a K&N fipk. performance is off the hook, amazing,,, but the biggest dissappoinment, the U.A.E. goverment has paved and smoothened this track that goes down to the Hatta rock pools. and heyy, this incline was actually more than 60 degrees, it doesnt look that serious in the vid.( not proving a point)
If you intend running this guy down with derogatory comments, either about the cameraman or his driving ability... think about it, nobody cares about your rude remarks which only you may find witty. In which case I pity you.
As a seasoned off-roader now, I recall very clearly that once I too had to start as a novice - and so did you. So please, unless you have positive comments to share with other novices who might watch this video, nobody cares about your insulting comments.
Next time try pressing the brake when the tires are off the ground. With the limited slip when the brake is pressed it applies torque to the spinning wheel and then allows the opposite wheel to have the same torque.
It works really well on my 04 WJ with the selec-trac
lowered tire pressure and 4lo might have helped- but its incredible how capable those little tj's are in stock trim. the first thing i did to mine seeing as it already had a limited slip dana 44 rear was a really agressive set of 31x10.5 trxus tires. just like that it was awsome but now i have 33" pro comps, a 8500lbs winch and a 4" rough country lift and it just turned it into a entire new vehicle. enjoy your jeep buddy and keep on driving like it should be driven!
@louisp12 . thx Mate! loving this machine ....... ! i ve got these 31x10.50 r15 still, but as 90 % of my offroading is in the fine trecherous sands here in dubai, and the biggest challenge i face is while racing up 10 storey high dunes, while with this stock config, the tj still outruns most of the popular Nissan Patrols and the Land cruisers, unless they're turbo or supercharged..... so i was wondering if i should focus on reducing the total tyre and rim weight , for more power gain !
@slant6guy I agree with you slant6guy. I put an aussie in the front of my 97 tj sahara and it just rocks! i can go places i never dreamed of going. if the jeep in this video had lockers it would of been up in no time, no issues whatsoever.
are you frikkin kidding me? dude you give jeeps a bad name. I watched both your jeep videos and I could do that shit in 2 wheel drive in mine. learn to drive you dimwit
proof that you dont need the premiere holy shit package on your rig. stock jeeps are very very capable. i took my stock 78 cj7 out to the desert with my friends in their tricked out super duper lifted jeeps with lockers and whatnot, and i was able to keep up. that was a while ago though.
now i drive a 93 wrangler. 2 inch lift. its rockin. love jeeps. Aussies are the best people on earth. good job conquering that hill.
its ok for two average sized people to sit at the back of the TJ, but on longer drives it does get a bit uncomfortable, and specially if the driver and the co driver are tall, the legspace at the back isnt that great. but what the pleasure of driving and owning this beast is unmatchable ! so i would reccomend you to go for it mate! cheers
it is a good idea elmarko to go up a hill slowly, but in this case bro, there wasnt any good amount of traction , owing to the loose gravel on the surface and the incline was around 40 degrees, and my stock car does not have any lockers, which i do agree with the previous comments would have helped a lot,but they cost a fortune as well. so the only thing that worked was the momentum gained in madly spinnin the wheels as u would perhaps say it
"Lockers" mean locking differential. They lock the axle shafts in for equal output. Quick disconnects let you disconnect the sway bar from the axle for better travel.
sway bars werent disconnected...... i m goin in fr a 2.5 inch lift ........ the rest is all stock,,,, this is a 2001 special edition renegade series tj exclusively fr the middle east market,
front and rear lockers would double the capability of any vehicle.

isn't it better to try getting up the hill slowly i.e. not spin the wheels madly like this guy is doing?

what are lockers and quick disconects??
xjaystanx 2 years ago
"Lockers" mean locking differential. They lock the axle shafts in for equal output. Quick disconnects let you disconnect the sway bar from the axle for better travel.
foolsonparade 2 years ago
lockers lock the axles so if one tire is spinning and other is not then its not locked.

good tires are a key
thefattim426 2 years ago
yeah with a lift or even quick disconnects would help
johndeere110kid 2 years ago
Thats an easy hill . The reason it was hard for that Jeep is because it needs a locker or two.

just tires would help

probably not the first and definitely not the last person whose going to recommend a locker or two!
