  • Correction, i dont think what i am is called atheist. Im proberly an agnosticer or how ever its spelled. Just talked with a friend about it. I believe in something. I just dont know what or see any proof for any.

  • Im an atheist. But i truly hope there is an God, that would make the world more beautiful then what i think it is now. I wont exactly have blind faith. But i truly hope i am wrong. :)

  • Atheists claim "there is no God" that's a positive statement and it needs to be proven. the burden of proof is on the Atheist to prove that positive statement.

  • @glower125 Uhm, just wondering. If an atheist claim "there is no god" there've must been an statement stating "God" existed or they wouldnt disagree. So lets start with the proof for that there is a God, except man written books..?

  • @ManifestationOfTruth I will take this conversation to messages, reading across multiple comments gets a tad bit bothersome.

  • @ManifestationOfTruth I refer to books that are third party. I can't trust books that are written about religious history when it's written by a follower when I'm researching religious points. I've heard this argument before and when I went back and studied religions of the past I found no evidence of Islam existing before the 7th century. Unless, of course, if you include the stories that the Quran shares with the Bible, then you can date it back further. Still, there were many before it exist.

  • Atheists are a fringe group? Fail

  • JazakAllah khair bro.. Excellent share... Can you tell me about your favourite videos regarding Dawah to Atheists...

  • When you say that all cultures throughout history believed in a god that is somewhat right, but in the god image you present it is wrong. Ancient cultures (lets say Egyptians) personified natural things in their world in order to explain nature. The Egyptian god Horus is known as the 'Sun God' because he is a representation of the sun. Essentially, they KNEW Hurus was a representation of the sun because the sun gave them everything. They simply praised the Sun. Not God.

  • I would like to address your claim that the "masters of logic" claim there was a god when they were wrong about their first claim. When they claimed that they'd fall at the same rate they used belief over experimenting and were wrong. That is called having faith in something. If you're trying to argue that the same people who refused to experiment and show evidence of something are correct by just saying it is correct, then i think you are presenting the opposite of what you want to present.

  • Masha Allah, he speaks with wisdom. Searching for purpose, seeking meaning of life and inner reflection is something we all feel at some point for all of us and to deny this feeling is certainly "Unatural" and will always conclude by this pondering that there is a God. Aethists basically accept their lives to be insignificant, however muslims believe our purpose if clear which gives our lives significance, meaning and peace. God bless you Bilal Philips

  • thats so true

  • Sure it is. I mean. you have proofs for that ;) Selam Alejkum we rahmetullah Ahi... ;)

  • Dear All,

Remember that we raised up again in the day of judgement, we will be made to account for what we belief and do in this word, do take time to think and ponder about it.

  • GREAT lecture! Jazakallah brother!

  • See my response for why he's utterly wrong about everything.

  • Go look yourself at the mirror, atheism and darwanism are dead theories....

  • Try that on on my channel, I dare you.

  • Oh boy. (Eyes roll.)

  • "Nobody's taken any class in philosophy, logic?" That seems to explain a great deal...

  • I wonder what about this comment led to it being marked as spam?

Despicable. Flagging as a method of silencing contradictory opinion.

  • The first law of thermodynamics is an observed inductive relationship, NOT a logical absolute.

  • No it's a logical absolute. It cannot be done. The law cannot and has not been broken.

  • No, you're plain wrong. It's a scientific law, and so it's merely an inductive description of observed phenomenon.

  • 20% is a lot bigger then a fringe.

  • Mostly his arguments are good, but I would have avoided discrediting logic and then using logic to prove his point. He's a smart person, and overall I think he did a good job with this.

  • Ever heard of an old rule in logic, it's called Occum's Razor or Ockham's Razor. To attach unnecassery ideas to an already explain phenomenon (E.g the big bang, tsunamis) or an unexplained phenomenon without testing the unexplained. To put it short, Occum's Razor keeps things simple until that simpleness is expanded to a more complex explanation by scientific means or abandoned for a more simple explanation and then expanded.

  • Continued~

Now, we already know that tsunamis happened when the ocean, is rapidly displaced. The caused of it could be earthquakes, mass movements above or below water, or some volcanic eruptions. We all know that these events are natural without any divine intervention because it is all just products of cause and effect. Note : Cause and effect. The ancient greeks would say that Poseidon did it.

    Continued~

  • The rule of Occum's Razor rejects the poseidon explanation for the more simpler and natural explanation. Now to assume that God *BANGED* the big bang without ANY evidence of this god character. We can simply reject that hypothesis. And to say that everything must have a creator leaves the question open for "What or who created god?". When one say that God doesnt need a creator, one can also apply that to the universe. Note that. And now Occum's Razor is put into place.

    Continued~

  • While he is smart, he does contradict himself many times, and seems to simply ignore some of the questions he asks himself. While he tries his best, he is still flawed in his arguments.

  • masha'Allah, Bro.Bilal Philips is great! May Allah reward him.

  • Amin

  • great video

  • Brother Philips does mention that the Greeks started the study of logic, and that the argument predates communism.

  • It's all for a reason and Allah Knows best.

Would you watch this former athiest turn Muslim discuss his "journey to Islam":

    /watch?v=EPrSklEcWmE

  • This shouldn't be why you know the Quran to be "wrong". There are plenty other places dealing concerning spirituality you could point and ridicule, but not this particular area. Is it not true that we are developed in stages as embryos in our mothers wombs? Man has only come to discover this recently. It's a confirmed fact.

Also, why would it be neccessary to use "new matter" to create something else. Would the original matter have expired at some point?

  • And to answer your "man wouldn't put a chin rest on cello" analogy. As foolish as I feel discussing nipples, I don't believe they are entirely purposeless on males. I mean, do you think secretory ducts after childbirth are the only purpose for them on the female? For a husband and wife, this is a seductive area for both parties. And from an appearance standpoint, without them, we'd look like some Donatello (sp?) sculpture or something.

  • I end with this. Everything in our sphere of existence is composed of atoms of matter, correct? Atoms, when split, we find are composed of smaller particles (i.e. neutrons, protons, etc.), right? And even these can be split, and we'll find subparticles. If we continue breaking apart the building blocks of matter, eventually we'd have something so miniscule that it is non-existent. Discovering everything is made of nothing but the Will of Allah (God)... the "Mover", Creator and Destroyer.

  • The presence of a Designer is only "observable" through its Design(s). The evidence of my furniture rearranged upon entering home is evidence someone rearranged it (though they are not evident). I quote Sam Jack: "the absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence!" But because we cannot detect, comprehend or physically encounter this Source, is where the denial arises in some people. As such, I can't prove to you God exsist and you can't prove to me God doesn't exist.

  • However, there is more evidence to suggest there is a Creator than there is against it. Nothing you've seen has created itself. Existence is not the result of "unique randomness". And as for certain organs having no function, they said the same about the spleen before discovering it filters unwanted materials from blood. And our nipples? As God said in the Qur'an: "He creates you in wombs of your mothers, in stages, one after the other..." (39:6)

  • As an embryo, we do not develop everything all at once. We develop in stages, week by week. The embryo follows a 'female template', so the nipples are present long before the influence of the Y chrom and testotrone to form the male organs. In fact, our gender isn't determined until the final phase (of embryonic development). So whether the embryo becomes male or female, the nipples remain.

  • Well, you don't speak for every athiest. And I still stand by that it is either the concepts they've acquired about God they doubt or a series of traumatic experiences that've driven them to denial. I truly doubt any of you can completely empty yourselves of the awareness of His presence, especially in periods of distress or in a extreme daunting or fearful situation I'm sure they cry out to a higher power (i.e. "oh, God, please!"). But after it passes, they regress to denying again.

  • Bilal Philips, like Michael Lang (now Muslim, author and mathematician) was an atheist himself before [re]entering Islam. Alhamdulillah!

And truthfully, I doubt that it's the presence of God atheist deny, rather, it is the conflictive or distorted concepts of God that they've learned from family, peers, ministers or even the bible that they're actually rejecting. As such, they have more in common with the Muslim than we think.

  • The rise of atheism in the 20th century is because of communism? Perhaps in communist nations. That doesnt explain it in non communist nations like the UK. The rise of atheism is the ineveitable result of rising standards of education and the staggering advancements in scientific knowledge.

  • I was going to jump on that fallacy too.

Atheism started spreading during the Enlightenment, in the 1700s.

  • The question for Bipal is why are you a muslim and not a christian or jew? because you were born into a muslim community. This shows that your beliefs have nothing to do with truth but a lot to do with geography.

  • Not quite, Bilal Philips was born in Jamaica to a christian family.

You can watch his video on why he became muslim here: watch?v=NtR-Z3c1720

  • fine. However my point still stands. One's religion is almost exclusively determined by one's place of birth and cultural background. That shows clearly that religion has little to do with truth.

  • no, it just shows that people are influenced by their environment.

  • Actually it shows that they are indoctrinated within their culture. Scientific understanding permeates any culture because it is independently testable. i.e. gravity is gravity whether you are a muslim, jew or hindu. Gods are very different within these cultural traditions.

  • @artyfarty2 ACTUALLY THAT'S NOT TRUE, AT LEAST NOT IN MY CASE.

BORN HALF JEW AND PRACTICED JUDAISM UNTIL RECENTLY, MUSLIM NOW.

  • @artyfarty2

Salam (peace be upon you)... is that the argument or excuse that the human will present in front of God when he is questioned about his short trivial life on earth? Allah (God) is just and He will expose everyone to the truth at least once in their lifetime. The signs and answers are out there all around us...we just have to question ourselves and our existence. As a fellow creation and brother, I pray that you see the truth one day and hold tight to it.

  • Atheists minds are 'darkenned'? All religiosity vs intelligence studies show that the smarter you are the more likely you are to reject the notion of gods.

  • Atheism is unnatural? were are all born atheist. Some of us are smart enough to recognise that the supernatural claims of religions are nonsense and without evidence.

  • No one is born atheist. Look at all the nations of the world through out history. Look at the ones that didn't have any outside influence, they all believed in God.

  • I'm sorry but babies do not come from the womb worshipping gods, it takes indoctrination of a child or adult before belief in gods is adopted. The chinese have managed to remain relatively god free for thousands of years.

  • It is astonishing that you think that everyone is born believing in gods. 'God(s)' is no more than a term for 'everything I don't get'. Some people choose to assign extra properties to this concept for the sake of embodying it and personifying it. Gos is an idea. If one person thinks of it and others like the idea then the idea spreads (principally through indictrination). To assume that everyone automatically has this idea without being told takes a big stretch of credence.

  • @khalifahklothing When you were born you didn't naturally know that God exists. Unlike knowing how to breathe, how to eat, and how to drink. It is not a naturally built in piece of knowledge (and i use the term knowledge lightly). It isn't until you are introduced to a deity that you become knowing of its existence. Kind of like this video. I didn't think that you had made this video on youtube until i was introduced to it. Now i know it exists. There's no proof for God. So what does that say?

  • @khalifahklothing Superstition is a natural response to things you feel you have no control over but effect your life and well being. As in if I worship Allah and do it properly good things will happen to me. If bad things happen it because I didn't do it right. If good things happen it was because I did it right. It's just superstition. If god is truly great and all powerful he would not care if you believe in him.

  • I just want to add that there is more to the sharia than criminal punishment. but that is part of it and we accept it. here is an explanation of some parts of it: theft, murder, adultery: watch?v=3hiSO9kMexI criminal justice: watch?v=-OvVFunr8jk

  • He didnt say atheism is a new thing, but atheism became popular only recently. atheists always try to say that they are the only rational ones who use their mind, but there have always been philosophers, intellectuals, rational people and they believed in God. The quran also has a few verses which are addressed to atheists. Your second statement requires a long answer. here is a good video about that.watch?v=0aCbrGqhoBc and this about the truth of the prophethood of muhammad: watch?v=aeIFubRerrk

  • "He didnt say atheism is a new thing, but atheism became popular only recently."

    1) In the 20th century. He's wrong.

    2) Because of Communism. He's wrong.

  • Ah, I listened to the beginning again and he didn't say that atheism became popular in the 20th century: he was talking about an ATHEISTIC COUNTRY. But then why does he refer to atheism as a fringe position?

Let's try to set this straight.

    1. Atheism has been around for thousands of years.

    2. Atheism began to spread (in the Western world) in the 1700s, during the Enlightenment.

    3. Atheism and Communism are different things.

  • "atheists always try to say that they are the only rational ones who use their mind, but there have always been philosophers, intellectuals, rational people and they believed in God."

Knowledge progresses over time: the further we look back in time the greater the ignorance and the more superstitious people were. So relying on the popular views from historical days, when ignorance and superstition were higher, is a bad argument.

  • wikimon:

I'd like u to try and get a monkey to write shakespeare.

  • Thank you .Jazak Allah kul khair.

  • typical...another muslim starts out making unfounded historical claims like atheism being 20th century recent

  • What is the significance of when atheism started?

  • he didnt say it started recently. its only "popular" now though.

  • i don't believe in a god, i have no reason to believe in ANYTHING until someone comes and shows me proof. that the universe exists is NOT PROOF. it's the same as seeing cow shit and saying "hey there must be a cow!" except in this case you don't know that cow shit comes from cows, you don't know what cow shit even is. until i see a cow shitting, i'm not attributing cow shit to cows creating it

  • you can feel free to believe "a god" created the beginning, but to posit that he stuck around to meddle with it is utter falacy. you have no EVIDENCE to believe this is true. nothing we observe in the real world cannot be described scientifically. to believe in a deist god is fine, to believe in a theistic god requires unreasoned faith.

  • in other words, to believe that god is around and REQUIRES you to believe, is utterly beyond reason.

if i was god, and i NEEDED people to believe in me (for whatever childish reason) i would manifest myself CONSTANTLY, you would have no excuse for not believing.

there IS NO PROOF, thusly god doesn't exist or doesn't want us to know he exists

  • God sent u prophets with miracles to believe. Now that the last messenger came by and died some 1400 years ago , he still left you a living miracle -Quran. Read it objectively and sincerely if u r looking for the truth and comeback and report.

  • The koran is full of errors and contrdictions..

  • feesww : dont talk bout what u didnt read ...thx.

  • religion is not inherited. you take a christian baby and throw him on a deserted island somewhere, he will not grow up christian. all people are born philosophers. it's nurture that brings people to a religion, or to science. humans seek answers. where these answers come from ultimately define their belief. belief in a god is still illogical because of the lack of proof.

  • the camel isn't designed for the desert, it adapted to desert life over hundreds of thousands of years. evolution is not simple chance, it's determined chance. you use the idea of monkeys and typewriters, that's simple chance. for this to be a true evolutionary determined chance, we'd have one monkey and every time he hit a wrong key, he'd get shocked. eventually the monkey will be patterned to produce shakespeare. this is equivalent to evolutionary theory.

  • creatures that did not adapt, did not reproduce and continue. the chance mutations are retained as incremental advancement, it's not random chance at all. far from it.

  • your whole line of reasoning is rife with fallacy. this tires me.

here's a god test. throw a baby out of an airplane and have 500 holy people of every faith in the world pray for its safety. when the baby dies on impact maybe then you'll realize that if god exists, he simply doesn't care, and why should we care about him?

  • God created laws (e.g gravity) and why should he break them ? Because u want to test him? To beieve in God just look at his creations and their sustainability around you. I have witnessed a prayer when we had drought and it rained. That doesn't happen every time but on that clear sky day , it happened.
