  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 yes your right they are trying to deystroy our country its not just our river boats but our historic past thats in danger ,,,there already placeing shopping centers and highways through our cival war battle fields,,there taking away our americian history very little is left of our cival war battle fields,,our americian history is who we are as americians,,if congress keeps this up it will all be gone,,,

  • is the fight still on are there any more updates on the delta queen I hope so she needs to return to the river where she belongs,,,

  • This law turns the Coast Guard into a bunch of bureaucrats instead of the brave seamen they are. Let them continue saving lives in our coastal waters and get them OFF the rivers.

  • according to 'steamboat bill' magazine

congress wouild not extend, so the queen is moored to a riverside park in tennesee. ongoing work is being done to turn it into a shorebased hotel. like the permanant mooring of the sternwheeler Thomas Edison replica( it has its original engine) at deerfield villedge. it is a terrible thing that this is happening.

  • Much like her sister ship the Delta King in Sacramento. (Delta King Hotel)

  • @atfatw I'd rather see the Delta Queen burn and sink and be lost forever vs make her a permanent hotel with no chance of operating again. I say the propeller driven American Queen be sold for scrap to return the Delta Queen to the river.

  • @baritonebynight I understand your sentiment. it is the last actual in service steam paddlewheeler in the United States. one of the big modern ships that resembled the queen is now being scrapped but I don't think that will happen to the venerable queen.

  • @atfatw That was the Mississippi Queen, built in 1975 I think. At least it was a steam powered ship. The modern American Queen built in 1995 which has a steam paddlewheel (for looks mostly) but is diesel propeller driven is now being returned to serivice. I wish that they could scrap the modern propeller driven American Queen to put this money into returing the Delta Queen.

  • yes we need to save the delta queen these 2 congressmen have said that the delta queen is old and need to retire,,but the congressmen need to look at something,,THE CONGRESSMEN ARE OLD TOO BUT THERE STILL GOING WHY DONT THEY RETIRE AND NOT THE DELTA QUEEN,,,

  • Wow! Yet another example of our elected representatives NOT listening to our requests. 80 years of no fatal incidences, ingenious high-tech upgrades that preserve the historical essence of this magnificent vessel and make it safe especially given it's river environment. Let's see if our "representatives" will actually represent our requests to Save The Delta Queen!!

  • Please Save this Majestic Beauty that has been a part of my life for years!!

  • Please save the Delta Queen. She is truly a wonderful piece of our maritime and country's history. It would be a shame if we allowed just 2 people to stop this

  • A beautiful ship and worthy of saving. I would hope my children get to ride her someday.

    Greg Elems

  • Lisiten at the name of the bill. Safety of Life at Sea, Not Safety of Life on the Rivers.

  • @TVRM610 Yeah, there's a lot of contention between river mariners and the Coast Guard. The short version is that a lot of people wish they'd just go back to the coast and guard that. Most of my license exams were more geared to ocean going vessels than they were to river towboats.

  • Bravo, Bravo!!!!!!!

  • Well done!
