@shreadz123 i think u r a troll or a jerk because why did u type how to do a ollie, ur either lookin too be a jerk or ur ashamed ur older and this kid is better...
@bimsic um, you are probobly not jumping. Because if you dont jump, you really cant slide it up. Try jumping higher. As you pop, lift up your backfoot, and then jump with your front and slide. See if this helps.
I found out my problem is that when I bend my knees for more power>jump>pop tail.. That's all I can do and my shoulders and stuff are all correct but my board keeps sliding like in front of me, or the back of me. Can anyone help of what I'm doing?
Yo this is a very good tutorial, but most of the videos are same but I can't even learn :( I don't get it.. People just don't explain it clear sorry =l
just got to work up the confidence to try it on concrete..is it easier to 'pop' the board on a harder surface rather than grass, because i don't seem to be getting much height.
ur a a better ollier than me but ur a little sloppy when ur in the air try not to like scworm so much and when u land it looks like ur bout to fall off so yeah pce out
how old r now?? i was skating since i was 7 or younger haha then i stoped cuz my cuzin broke it =( then started again when i was 11 years old now im 12 :P plan B ayy i have a girl wilson dots
2day I just nailed how to get an Ollie down and ive been skating for the last month or so. If I had to give a piece of advice to someone just learning
Don't overdo it
vie seen heaps of videos like this of people doing Ollie's really high, u got to remember, most of these guys have had allot of practice.. Take things slow and u will b able to notice what works in making an olie happen
After that... just c if u can do it higher and harder pops and bending lower... Best advice I can give
its not about how hard you pop the board it is how quickly you can snap the tail down, and yes, you also have to throw your body in the air. The board will not go higher than you.
That was pretty cool. You know, all the years that I've seen peopel skateboard, you're one of the only people I've ever seen to actually try to teach others and I think that is very cool. Btw very cool video.
Went out today, and totally wussed out. I can ollie about 12" on the grass. But when i try it on the pavement i wuss out. On a side note, on most of the vids, on how to ollie, they do not talk about the foot that is kicking down on the tail. For the folks trying to learn, you have to not only force the tail to the ground and raise your other foot waaaay up, you have to bring up your foot thats poping the tail as soon as it contacts the ground or 1 second before. else it will keep the board down.
another thing, after I master the ollie which trick should I study next?
I'm trying to go in order, so I'm assuming that after the ollie I need to study the pop shuv-it, right?
I'm just trying to stay in order cuz I know you can't learn the ollie and then just jump into trying to learn the 360 flip. It's like math you know, you gotta know you times tables before you can go doing exponents, ok I'm just babbling now
yeah, i learned the shuvit/ pop shuvit and then i learned the kickflip and heelflip. that way it would be easier to do varial flips and varial heelflips.
I been working on my ollie for about a month and I got the movement and everything. My ollies are become more and more consistent. The thing is that I'm having a hard time ollie(ing) over stuff.
I've started out small so I can work my way up to larger and larger objects. Right now I'm trying to ollie over a broom stick(laid flat of course). Out of the 50 maybe 60 times I've tried, I made it twice. I seem to be jumping too late or too soon. Any tips?
i saw your message, but for some reason it wont let me let me send my reply. im gonna keep trying to send it. check later tonight. i might have it by then
Well i started skating like a week ago and my buddy (wich can skate really good) trys to teach me. btu his not really a good teacher. he knows how to do it but he doesnt know how to explain.
When i pop and i slide my board goes up and my right foot(i'm goofy) lands on the board my left foot ALLWAYS lands right next to the board. am i doing it wrong or is it normal in the beginning? My friend cant tell because he skates like 7 years and he allready forgot how he was when he was a noob..
yeah, what your doing wrong is your either trying to hard to do a really high ollie, or your bending down too much over the board which causes the board to turn stlightly to the right, and thats probably why your left foot comes off the board because you aren't even with the skateboard. post a vid of you doing your ollie and i can really tell you what you are doing wrong. but its normal to have problems with your ollie after just one week of skateboarding
Nice video, i just started skating and i need help with my ollies. ive posted a video of me 'trying' to ollie, if you could take a look and probably give me some tips, i would appreciate it. Thanks
thanks for the link, Im going to get outside and give it a shot. I like that you gave 4 different views of the ollie, that helps out alot. How long did it take for you to get to this point, with regards to your height.
well, first off when i saw your vid, i was really surprised on how high you got. but i think the key thing to getting a higher ollie is to practice consistantly every day, an dont ever give up with this trick. ive been skating for about seven or eight months and im still workin on it. i mnow you will get it just dont give up
i suck at skating but for an 11 year old( at the time you posted this vid) whose been skating for only 8 months that was pretty good...and thanks for the back knee advice no one else said that
yeah, most people who post videos on youtube just pop the board and jump, but they dont tell you the key things that you need to do to preform an ollie( they just say level out in the air) but you need to bring your back knee up and really throw your body up in the air because the board will not go higher than you

yeah, what your doing wrong is your either trying to hard to do a really high ollie, or your bending down too much over the board which causes the board to turn stlightly to the right, and thats probably why your left foot comes off the board because you aren't even with the skateboard. post a vid of you doing your ollie and i can really tell you what you are doing wrong. but its normal to have problems with your ollie after just one week of skateboarding
