First of all, it is Karl Poppers ideas that make his essay worth reading, and nothing about the man himself. But Karl Popper was not a woman hater, or a science hater. What Karl Popper has done was to be the first to articulate the difference between a truly scientific explanation, and a psuedoscientific one. If you are a scientist today, then you know what "falsification" means and why it is so important, and you owe it all to Popper.
Popper was raised as a christian, but he was actually an atheist/agnostic, and his parrents were the ones who converted to christianity.
