@mabiniss2 I think Bentsen's point was that Quayle may have had the same amount of Congressional experience, but that because JFK was a 'great man', 12-14 years was sufficient experience for JFK to be a competent leader, but would not be sufficient for an ordinary senator like Quayle.
@mabiniss2 lol......of course he never said "he was" jack kennedy.......first of all kennedy was dead.....and second....he doesn't look like kennedy does he?
@bbenjers Huh? I like Kennedy and respect him a lot. I only made a comment correcting someone who didn't know John Kennedy and Jack Kennedy were the same guy.

Revenge would have been soo sweet.
Fantastic! How could Quayle state that was uncalled for? He was clearly trying to make a comparison which completely backfired and made him look like a pretencious idiot!
to ToddAldrich- if i where dan quayle i would wish that i had the charisma and charm that JFK had,but.....as with life most right wing repubs are a bunch of limp dicks who couldnt be with bimbos, sluts,or whores...
If I were Quayle I would say "and thank God, I'm NOT like Jack Kennedy. I won't fool around with whores, sluts and bimbos and I will not bring us closer to the brink of Nuclear war than anyone in the history of mankind."
@ToddAldrich Actually, Kennedy PREVENTED Nuclear and conventional war 6 times during his Administration. Dan Quayle couldn't lick the bottom of Kennedy's or Bentsen's shoe. BTW, just about every modern President has had a mistress; so who gives a crap is he had other women in his life other than Jackie(not that that's right though).
@Suprkit Sorry , but there never would have been a need to "prevent" Nuclear war if the moron hadn't led the Soviets to believe he was weak. He abandoned the cubans who revolted against Castro and let them DIE on the beach. HIS administration is the one who thought about killing innocent Americans in order to justify a war - but you liberals conveniently forget that when you get into your PNAC & truther conspiracies.
@ToddAldrich And I guess you forget that Eisenhower's administration helped train Cubans in Guatemala in the 50's(and originally supported Castro, then tried to assassinate him) ,put the Shah in power in '53,helped begin American involvement in Indo-China(Vietnam) in '54,flew U2's over Russia (because of which Powers was shot down in '60). Kennedy was always trying to find a way OUT of war,not increase the chance of it. Also, we're still here so he must have done something right.
@ToddAldrich Also, let's not get personal about this. You don't know anything about me and I no nothing about you. Let's be civil and stick to facts and not namecalling. Thank you
@Suprkit That is fine, but how did Eisenhower get into the conversation? We were talking Kennedy. I made a comment that displayed my displeasure with Kennedy and that Quayle should have told the truth about him after Benson's smarmy and arrogant put -down. Eisenhower was only brought up by you to distract from the topic at hand, which was showing how bad Kennedy was.
@ToddAldrich Because Kennedy's predecessor (Eisenhower) was responsible for many of the problems he had to deal with. I'm making the point that Dan Quayle was never fit to be even Vice President, let alone President. You tried to make the point that Kennedy was a bad President and I am correcting the record. I guess you're also upset because Quayle didn't have as good a comeback as Sen. Bentsen did.
@Suprkit By what measure?? The SMEAR job the media pulled on him? The media has covered UP liberal gaffes or at the very least minimized them, yet EVERY conservative gaffe gets treated with front page coverage and 10 page expose's in the "news" papers and magazines. ONLY when it becomes so unavoidable do you get even a hint of such coverage when it is a liberal.
And Kennedy was responsible for his OWN problems, those things you mentioned had NOTHING to do with the near nuclear war.
@ToddAldrich I don't know what newspapers or magazines you're talking about. Can you give specific examples instead of just a blanket statement about the media? Are you upset because they quoted what Quayle really said? As to your issue about Kennedy, can you at least admit that some of the problems Kennedy dealt with were a result of the previous administrations failures in their efforts to really deal with them and just pass the buck on to the next President?
@Suprkit Of Course - ALL Presidents have some things left over from the previous administration. What I am upset about is NOT that they report what Quayle said, but that the DON'T give the same coverage to what liberals have said when they commit a gaffe. As for this particular comment, it was NASTY and arrogant. But that is typically what sells well with liberals so I can see why they cheered. The FACT of the matter was that Quayle DID have as much experience as Kennedy.
@ToddAldrich You know what, I'm going to be the bigger person and just end this by agreeing to disagree. I can obviously tell that you're as slanted to the right as I am slanted to the left. You just wanted to make Quayle look like someone who knew what he was doing. No matter what I say, you always have some "counterpoint" when there is none whatsoever. All I can say is Quayle comparing himself to Kennedy is like comparing a goldfish to a Blue Whale,it just doesn't make sense.
@Suprkit Quayle was comparing ONE specific issue - experience in congress. Quayle was correct. While Kennedy had the press COVERING UP for him, AND BUILDING him up , Quayle had the press actively looking to undermine him and making sure every gaffe was highlighted.
Can you even sit there with a straight face and deny that?
@ToddAldrich Just like you can sit there and pretend Dan Quayle was an intelligent person. Name one thing Quayle ever did either in Congress or the Vice Presidency that was notable. A piece of Legislation,an idea he put forth during Bush's Presidency. ANYTHING at all. Just one, that's all. I mean if he's such a great guy compared to Senator/President Kennedy, it ought to be a cakewalk finding something he contributed, right?
@Suprkit That was not the point. My comment was to the fact that Bentsen's comment was snotty and arrogant, and that is what passes as intelligent debate now-days on the left. As to Quayle's record, some of us realize that NOT passing legislative burdens is a GOOD thing. They don't harm our country that way. Hell, if we hadn't passed ANYTHING over the last 12 years, and instead undertook dismantling the regulatory rats-nest and incomprehensible tax code, we would be far better off.
@ToddAldrich So you're saying politicians elected by us shouldn't do anything for anyone except sit back a collect a paycheck? Wow, how "smart". When I vote, I want to make sure they fight for people like me by taxing those who can more than afford it. Big Oil,Big Banks, and Big Business need to pay their fair share just like you and I do. Again, you've proven my point perfectly.
@Suprkit Not at all. But big oil etc pay MORE than their fair share. The Richest 50% pay THE ENTIRE bill and yet assholes on your side of the aisle say THEY need to pay more. You want to know why jobs are LEAVING this country? It is because of MORONS on your side that make it too expensive for them to compete if they stay.
Your solution?? Make it MORE expensive to stay! If fighting for you means PUNISHING someone else, you are a SORRY individual.
@ToddAldrich Name calling and profanity just deflate your arguments. I'm an AMERICAN, just like YOU are. We are human beings first and foremost. I don't know why you're getting so worked up? You don't even know me. Let's be respectful and debate like grown ups, fine with you? And just for the record, 12 of the FORTUNE 500 paid a -1.5% tax rate in the past 3 years. Yes, NEGATIVE Taxes. So please don't tell me they're taxed "fairly" like average citizens...Because they're NOT!
@Suprkit I LOVE how you liberals take the EXCEPTIONS and HUGE corporations as the rule but neglect the fact that most of your policies would destroy the small businessmen in your bloodlust and hatred of the big corps.
Let me clue you in, the huge corps don't care about government regulations and taxes. THEY can pass it on to their customers FAR easier than the small business can. It destroys the small business, and eliminates the competition for the HUGE corps.
@ToddAldrich So let corporations run everything? How nice, let them make more money than everyone else by destroying the little guy. Again, they paid NO TAXES. Even if they were given 100% tax cut, you would argue MORE for the top I guess. Also, Bloodlust? Get over yourself.
@Suprkit Those negative tax rates are the result of a government playing favorites - something a government SHOULD not have the power to do. IF our Federal government was actually following the Constitution, it would not HAVE that power in the first place. Liberals have destroyed the concept of limited government and then moan that this all-powerful govt. grants favors to it's friends.
@ToddAldrich Why didn't your kind tell that to Bush and his cronies when they were subverting the Constitution? Starting an illegal ill fated "adventure" in the Middle East because they wanted "freedom for all"? If they want freedom, they need to do it themselves, not get bullied by the U.S. and be forced to live under our way of life if they like it or not.
@ToddAldrich Last I remembered, TORTURE was not Constitutional. It is, in fact, a war crime. Making up false evidence to go to war in a nation that never attacked us(Iraq). Saying there were WMD's in Iraq when there were none(lying). Killing thousands of innocent civilians directly or indirectly as a result of the invasion and occupation.
@Suprkit So when your side stops using euphemisms like "fetus" and "women's right to choose what to do with their own bodies" to hide the fact that your side advocates the wholesale slaughter of innocent humans, then you can get back with me on the hypocrite charge.
@Suprkit I want my congress people to increase FREEDOM, not government. Government too often fools the gullible into thinking it is helping us - when in fact it is merely making us dependent upon them. Liberals are like drug pushers - pretending to be your friend and passing out "free" samples. The unwitting don't realize they are getting hooked on those goodies and soon are utterly dependent.
But then your masters know that and they use that dependence to CONTROL people.
@ToddAldrich They why do people even run for public service if it's just "big and bad"? I would rather have a government who tries to solve problems then one who tries to push their personal views of religion and "values" down everyone's throat like Conservatives. They hate government, but they'll give tax breaks to people who don't need them and regulate what goes on with gay people's relationships and women's bodies. Conservatives are hypocrites, they just won't admit they're WRONG.
@Suprkit Why are you against science? There is not a credible scientist that would deny a "fetus" is alive. It fits EVERY scientific definition of life. The DNA of a "fetus" is unique - and thus it is NOT a part of the mother's body. It is also HUMAN DNA - so it is a LIVE, INDIVIDUAL, LIVING Human being. (continued)
@ToddAldrich Me against science? I'm sure you agree with the rest of the "Teapartiers" that global warming is a myth and there's no such thing as evolution. Don't pick and choose what facts to believe, it just makes you look bad. Also, I guess you would let every, single baby be born regardless of it was a rape or a familymember or if the woman is not even healthy enough to have children?
@Suprkit Obviously you ARE against science. No one doubts global warming - or global cooling for that matter. That is just your ignorance of our position talking. It is YOUR side that ignores the FACT that this is NOTHING unusual. The earth has been warming and cooling for hundreds of thousands of years. As a matter of FACT, it is COOLER now than it was in the 1930's.
I would suggest you stop creating strawmen and deal with what I said instead of some made up image.
@ToddAldrich You Neocons always pretend something is there when it's not. You never answered any of my questions directly when it comes to Dan Quayle, or John Kennedy or admit that Eisenhower did anything wrong. Where do you get your "facts" from? Human Made Global Warming is real! deal with it!
@ToddAldrich If you're such a believer in science, then presumably you have absolutely no belief in religion given that there's nothing scientific in it. I agree with you to an extent on the environmental aspect. Nobody can completely predict ecological trends. On the flip side, every industrialised country said that they had no way of predicting the recession yet I don't see Republicans calling financial analysts idiots and cretins.
@HeartfeltDawn I don't see any real contradictions between science and my religion. I don't see Republicans calling ANYONE idiots and cretins. I DO, however, see the left spreading hatred everywhere they go.
@ToddAldrich If you can find me any link where Obama criticises homosexuals in the same way Michele Bachmann does, I'd love to see it. Likewise, if you can find me one Republican candidate who calls financial analysis a 'pseudo science' as Bachmann and others call science around global warming, I'd love to see it.
@ToddAldrich I asked you for one link as detailed above. You couldn't or didn't supply one and then accuse me of intolerance. Is that what passes for debate in your neck of the US woods?
@ToddAldrich No problem! Would you please find me one link featuring a Republican saying that financial analysis is a pseudo science? I'm struggling to see this 'liberal control' you mentioned earlier in this garbled thread. By my reckoning, from Reagan's start (1981) to the end of G.W.Bush (2010), there's only eight years out of 29 featuring a Democrat in the White House. It's hard to reconcile your talk of 'liberal control' when faced with those figures.

I remember watching this live on TV with my dad. When Bentsen started with his "I knew Jack Kennedy" both of us in unison said "uh oh".... and had a great laugh. I'm still snickering.
@tamkukushka If you are making the point that your experience qualifies you in the way that JFK's experience qualified him, then by implication you ARE, indeed, comparing yourself to him.
Lloyd Bentsen was a pompous, rich texas asshole who pretended to be a liberal. Gimmie a break. Thank God he and Dukakis didn't get elected. Vice Pres Quayle was not smooth but despite these bullshit debate moments, he served well and was an honorable guy.
@aitraining. Lloyd Bentsen was a good and decent public servant with a history of success behind him. He was an honorable man. This was Quayles first of several blunders in his short tenure in politics. You'd probably say the same about George W. Bush and Newt Gingrich. Newt and George W., like Dan Quayle are, and always will be, morons and a permanant stain in the American political arena.
@bradmedicus well u r obviously a liberal monkey. Bottom line is George Bush crushed Michale Dukakis - thank God. These debate "gotcha moments" don't mean shit. I always thought Lloyd Bentsen was a phony career rich TX pretend liberal. Whatever....No one votes for VP. By the way. Joe Biden gaffes a helluva lot more than Dan Quayle ever did.
Everyone remembers this Bentsen remark, but what prompted it was Quayle's refusal/inability to answer the following simple question (non-verbatim): What would you initially do, as Vice-President, if God forbid, the President was killed or incapacitated, forcing you to take over as President? Instead of answering that question (asked 3 times as I recall, the last time by Tom Brokaw), Quayle [poorly] answered the question "Why are you qualified"? The most obvious question in a VP debate & he ...
The line came off a little cruel, but Quayle used that line many times before and Bentsen was ready for it. I happen to like Dan Quayle. Can't believe he's 64 now! Time flies.....
Thank God Quayle didn't hook up with the OTHER Bush ..... George W. it would be Dumb and Dumber all over again ... and it wouldn't be a MOVIE ! Can we spell "P O T A T O ? E? DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Between the Republican party's "Four Fiercely Fumbling Fools", I wonder which one is the Stupidest. Dan Quayle, John McCain, Sarah Palin or George W. Bush ???
I would also like to know their level of Stupidity in order.
Quayle should have spoken up and said, "And I'm damn proud I'm not a Jack Kennedy!" He wasn't making a comparison that he was the same as Jack Kennedy...just that he had as much experience as him when he ran for office. Anyways, Quayle won...Bentsen lost!...end of story!
oh, spare me. If a Democrat was was comparing themselves to, say, Ronald Reagan by citing multiple terms as governor of CA, and the Republican opponent then said "you're no Ronald Reagan", Conservatives would be cheering like mad. You'd have no problem with it then. Hypocritical.
@mnmcv1 I don’t think you understood where I was coming from. I was pointing out that Quayle’s comparison was ONLY speaking of experience and time served in the political arena. He wasn’t trying to say he and Kennedy were in any way alike other than that! And that, my dear liberal friend, is why Quayle should have spoken up saying that he’s proud to NOT be a Jack Kennedy! So please, YOU spare me!
@StevenSWM Quayle didn't win the debate, just the election. You don't need to be good at debates or at your job to win an election.
And Quayle was comparing himself to Jack, even if it was just the experience factor ... hence Bentsen pointed out he was no Jack Kennedy. You are bringing up a moot point, Bentsen never said that Quayle said he was exactly the same as Jack either.
@Lerakon2 You said, "Quayle didn't win the debate, just the election." Well, for one thing, who says he didn't win the debate...you?! lol And btw, one of the ways you win elections is by winning debates. But let's face it, it wouldn't take much to win over Bentsen. NOW...you guys still don't get it...YES, Quayle was comparing himself to Kennedy...BUT ONLY the experience-time factor! But Bentsen, saying, "You are NO Jack Kennedy" was definitely meaning EVERYTHING BUT THE EXPERIENCE FACTOR!
@StevenSWM You actually failed to grasp my point, it doesn't matter if Bentsen was referring to his experience factor or not. You are putting meaning into something that is ambiguous. Bentsen could have simply been using the opportunity to state how much worse Quale is than Jack that they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with that myself, just pointing out that your logic fails.
And the election wasn't won because of this debate, sheesh.
@Lerakon2 Long ago, Benjamin Franklin said it so well, "You cannot argue with an idiot." And that's the only place my logic is failing me here! You're very statement that Bentsen was simply using the opportunity to state how much worse Quale is than Kennedy proves what I've been trying to get across to you dummies! Yes, that is exactly what Bentsen did, rather than correctly addressing the issue that Quayle was making! And I'm guessing you still don't get it...just like Bentsen didn't.
And I'll give you a hint: Your point originally that Quale's comparison was only the experience factor is irrelevant to Bentsen's comment.
And really would Quale even bring that up if he disliked Kennedy? He was comparing himself to Kennedy to make himself look better, if you can't see that then you're looking through biased glasses.
Lloyd Bentsen's generation of politicians had a certain style and panache about them that today's politicians lack. Now we have unpolished idiots like Mitch McConnell. Lloyd will shred him to pieces if they ever debated.
Quayle might not have been the brightest bulb, but it's hard to take these debates seriously when the only thing anybody remembers afterwards is a cheap shot.
You mean I don't cheat on my wife and use connections to wrangle my way to the presidency, use a shadow writer to write my pulitzer prize winning book and refuse to give him credit for it. Screw up spectacularly with the Bay of Pigs because of my insecurities regarding the Soviet Union, and cement my place in history for dying?
People think Lloyd Bentson won the argument, but no he did not. Quayle simply pointed out that having only a couple years of Congressional experience does not automatically mean that a person is unfit for the presidency, and he gave an example. It was Bentson who used an ad hominem argument to attack Quayle instead of addressing the argument.
@sanjacraven36 why? because i point out that Dan Quayle is moronix? If i had said some of the things that he did, ppl would be that i have brain damage. well, that wouldnt bother Quayle, because he doesnt have one. And by the way: WHERE THE FUCK DID HE GET THAT WIFE OF HIS? have you seen Marilyn Quayle? She looks like Prince Charles for god`s sakes! DOES he really have fuck that woman?!? God help him. I wouldnt fuck her with a stolen dick!!
@SUpersaiyajinjerkbag How could you do that! Not everyone is perfect, you should take a look in the mirror at yourself! I am going to report you to the authorities, this is exactly the type of thing I would expect out of a typical republican. One more reason why everyone should vote for Barack Obama instead of republicans because they abuse children, here is 100% irrefutable proof!
i wish the crowd was full of black people so you would've heard a collective "OOOOOH SHIT SON"

I made a comment that displayed my displeasure with Kennedy and that Quayle should have told the truth about him after Benson's smarmy and arrogant put -down. Eisenhower was only brought up by you to distract from the topic at hand, which was showing how bad Kennedy was.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Because Kennedy's predecessor (Eisenhower) was responsible for many of the problems he had to deal with. I'm making the point that Dan Quayle was never fit to be even Vice President, let alone President. You tried to make the point that Kennedy was a bad President and I am correcting the record. I guess you're also upset because Quayle didn't have as good a comeback as Sen. Bentsen did.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit By what measure?? The SMEAR job the media pulled on him? The media has covered UP liberal gaffes or at the very least minimized them, yet EVERY conservative gaffe gets treated with front page coverage and 10 page expose's in the "news" papers and magazines. ONLY when it becomes so unavoidable do you get even a hint of such coverage when it is a liberal.
And Kennedy was responsible for his OWN problems, those things you mentioned had NOTHING to do with the near nuclear war.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich I don't know what newspapers or magazines you're talking about. Can you give specific examples instead of just a blanket statement about the media? Are you upset because they quoted what Quayle really said? As to your issue about Kennedy, can you at least admit that some of the problems Kennedy dealt with were a result of the previous administrations failures in their efforts to really deal with them and just pass the buck on to the next President?
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Of Course - ALL Presidents have some things left over from the previous administration. What I am upset about is NOT that they report what Quayle said, but that the DON'T give the same coverage to what liberals have said when they commit a gaffe. As for this particular comment, it was NASTY and arrogant. But that is typically what sells well with liberals so I can see why they cheered. The FACT of the matter was that Quayle DID have as much experience as Kennedy.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich You know what, I'm going to be the bigger person and just end this by agreeing to disagree. I can obviously tell that you're as slanted to the right as I am slanted to the left. You just wanted to make Quayle look like someone who knew what he was doing. No matter what I say, you always have some "counterpoint" when there is none whatsoever. All I can say is Quayle comparing himself to Kennedy is like comparing a goldfish to a Blue Whale,it just doesn't make sense.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Quayle was comparing ONE specific issue - experience in congress. Quayle was correct. While Kennedy had the press COVERING UP for him, AND BUILDING him up , Quayle had the press actively looking to undermine him and making sure every gaffe was highlighted.
Can you even sit there with a straight face and deny that?
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Just like you can sit there and pretend Dan Quayle was an intelligent person. Name one thing Quayle ever did either in Congress or the Vice Presidency that was notable. A piece of Legislation,an idea he put forth during Bush's Presidency. ANYTHING at all. Just one, that's all. I mean if he's such a great guy compared to Senator/President Kennedy, it ought to be a cakewalk finding something he contributed, right?
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit That was not the point. My comment was to the fact that Bentsen's comment was snotty and arrogant, and that is what passes as intelligent debate now-days on the left. As to Quayle's record, some of us realize that NOT passing legislative burdens is a GOOD thing. They don't harm our country that way. Hell, if we hadn't passed ANYTHING over the last 12 years, and instead undertook dismantling the regulatory rats-nest and incomprehensible tax code, we would be far better off.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich So you're saying politicians elected by us shouldn't do anything for anyone except sit back a collect a paycheck? Wow, how "smart". When I vote, I want to make sure they fight for people like me by taxing those who can more than afford it. Big Oil,Big Banks, and Big Business need to pay their fair share just like you and I do. Again, you've proven my point perfectly.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Not at all. But big oil etc pay MORE than their fair share. The Richest 50% pay THE ENTIRE bill and yet assholes on your side of the aisle say THEY need to pay more. You want to know why jobs are LEAVING this country? It is because of MORONS on your side that make it too expensive for them to compete if they stay.
Your solution?? Make it MORE expensive to stay! If fighting for you means PUNISHING someone else, you are a SORRY individual.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Name calling and profanity just deflate your arguments. I'm an AMERICAN, just like YOU are. We are human beings first and foremost. I don't know why you're getting so worked up? You don't even know me. Let's be respectful and debate like grown ups, fine with you? And just for the record, 12 of the FORTUNE 500 paid a -1.5% tax rate in the past 3 years. Yes, NEGATIVE Taxes. So please don't tell me they're taxed "fairly" like average citizens...Because they're NOT!
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit I LOVE how you liberals take the EXCEPTIONS and HUGE corporations as the rule but neglect the fact that most of your policies would destroy the small businessmen in your bloodlust and hatred of the big corps.
Let me clue you in, the huge corps don't care about government regulations and taxes. THEY can pass it on to their customers FAR easier than the small business can. It destroys the small business, and eliminates the competition for the HUGE corps.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich So let corporations run everything? How nice, let them make more money than everyone else by destroying the little guy. Again, they paid NO TAXES. Even if they were given 100% tax cut, you would argue MORE for the top I guess. Also, Bloodlust? Get over yourself.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit GEE why am I not surprised? Another straw man argument.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Same as you. I guess we're not so different.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Those negative tax rates are the result of a government playing favorites - something a government SHOULD not have the power to do. IF our Federal government was actually following the Constitution, it would not HAVE that power in the first place. Liberals have destroyed the concept of limited government and then moan that this all-powerful govt. grants favors to it's friends.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Why didn't your kind tell that to Bush and his cronies when they were subverting the Constitution? Starting an illegal ill fated "adventure" in the Middle East because they wanted "freedom for all"? If they want freedom, they need to do it themselves, not get bullied by the U.S. and be forced to live under our way of life if they like it or not.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit How about you explain SPECIFICALLY what you are talking about when you say he subverted the Constitution.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Last I remembered, TORTURE was not Constitutional. It is, in fact, a war crime. Making up false evidence to go to war in a nation that never attacked us(Iraq). Saying there were WMD's in Iraq when there were none(lying). Killing thousands of innocent civilians directly or indirectly as a result of the invasion and occupation.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit So when your side stops using euphemisms like "fetus" and "women's right to choose what to do with their own bodies" to hide the fact that your side advocates the wholesale slaughter of innocent humans, then you can get back with me on the hypocrite charge.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@Suprkit I want my congress people to increase FREEDOM, not government. Government too often fools the gullible into thinking it is helping us - when in fact it is merely making us dependent upon them. Liberals are like drug pushers - pretending to be your friend and passing out "free" samples. The unwitting don't realize they are getting hooked on those goodies and soon are utterly dependent.
But then your masters know that and they use that dependence to CONTROL people.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich They why do people even run for public service if it's just "big and bad"? I would rather have a government who tries to solve problems then one who tries to push their personal views of religion and "values" down everyone's throat like Conservatives. They hate government, but they'll give tax breaks to people who don't need them and regulate what goes on with gay people's relationships and women's bodies. Conservatives are hypocrites, they just won't admit they're WRONG.
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Why are you against science? There is not a credible scientist that would deny a "fetus" is alive. It fits EVERY scientific definition of life. The DNA of a "fetus" is unique - and thus it is NOT a part of the mother's body. It is also HUMAN DNA - so it is a LIVE, INDIVIDUAL, LIVING Human being. (continued)
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich Me against science? I'm sure you agree with the rest of the "Teapartiers" that global warming is a myth and there's no such thing as evolution. Don't pick and choose what facts to believe, it just makes you look bad. Also, I guess you would let every, single baby be born regardless of it was a rape or a familymember or if the woman is not even healthy enough to have children?
Suprkit 4 months ago
@Suprkit Obviously you ARE against science. No one doubts global warming - or global cooling for that matter. That is just your ignorance of our position talking. It is YOUR side that ignores the FACT that this is NOTHING unusual. The earth has been warming and cooling for hundreds of thousands of years. As a matter of FACT, it is COOLER now than it was in the 1930's.
I would suggest you stop creating strawmen and deal with what I said instead of some made up image.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich You Neocons always pretend something is there when it's not. You never answered any of my questions directly when it comes to Dan Quayle, or John Kennedy or admit that Eisenhower did anything wrong. Where do you get your "facts" from? Human Made Global Warming is real! deal with it!
Suprkit 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich If you're such a believer in science, then presumably you have absolutely no belief in religion given that there's nothing scientific in it. I agree with you to an extent on the environmental aspect. Nobody can completely predict ecological trends. On the flip side, every industrialised country said that they had no way of predicting the recession yet I don't see Republicans calling financial analysts idiots and cretins.
HeartfeltDawn 4 months ago
@HeartfeltDawn I don't see any real contradictions between science and my religion. I don't see Republicans calling ANYONE idiots and cretins. I DO, however, see the left spreading hatred everywhere they go.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich If you can find me any link where Obama criticises homosexuals in the same way Michele Bachmann does, I'd love to see it. Likewise, if you can find me one Republican candidate who calls financial analysis a 'pseudo science' as Bachmann and others call science around global warming, I'd love to see it.
HeartfeltDawn 4 months ago
@HeartfeltDawn Seems you have a problem with people that have a different opinion than you do. How very tolerant.
What does this have to do with ANYTHING? If you don't want to vote for Bachman, fine. More power to you.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich I asked you for one link as detailed above. You couldn't or didn't supply one and then accuse me of intolerance. Is that what passes for debate in your neck of the US woods?
HeartfeltDawn 4 months ago
@HeartfeltDawn I didn't make the point you apparently wanted me to back up so there was nothing to link to.
In other words, I don't know what the hell you were asking for.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@HeartfeltDawn Perhaps you should compose a question that is both RELEVENT to what I said, and COHERENT.
ToddAldrich 4 months ago
@ToddAldrich No problem! Would you please find me one link featuring a Republican saying that financial analysis is a pseudo science? I'm struggling to see this 'liberal control' you mentioned earlier in this garbled thread. By my reckoning, from Reagan's start (1981) to the end of G.W.Bush (2010), there's only eight years out of 29 featuring a Democrat in the White House. It's hard to reconcile your talk of 'liberal control' when faced with those figures.

Lloyd Bentsen was a pompous, rich texas asshole who pretended to be a liberal. Gimmie a break. Thank God he and Dukakis didn't get elected. Vice Pres Quayle was not smooth but despite these bullshit debate moments, he served well and was an honorable guy.
aitraining 8 months ago
@aitraining. Lloyd Bentsen was a good and decent public servant with a history of success behind him. He was an honorable man. This was Quayles first of several blunders in his short tenure in politics. You'd probably say the same about George W. Bush and Newt Gingrich. Newt and George W., like Dan Quayle are, and always will be, morons and a permanant stain in the American political arena.
bradmedicus 7 months ago
@bradmedicus well u r obviously a liberal monkey. Bottom line is George Bush crushed Michale Dukakis - thank God. These debate "gotcha moments" don't mean shit. I always thought Lloyd Bentsen was a phony career rich TX pretend liberal. Whatever....No one votes for VP. By the way. Joe Biden gaffes a helluva lot more than Dan Quayle ever did.
aitraining 7 months ago
Everyone remembers this Bentsen remark, but what prompted it was Quayle's refusal/inability to answer the following simple question (non-verbatim): What would you initially do, as Vice-President, if God forbid, the President was killed or incapacitated, forcing you to take over as President? Instead of answering that question (asked 3 times as I recall, the last time by Tom Brokaw), Quayle [poorly] answered the question "Why are you qualified"? The most obvious question in a VP debate & he ...

@StevenSWM-
oh, spare me. If a Democrat was was comparing themselves to, say, Ronald Reagan by citing multiple terms as governor of CA, and the Republican opponent then said "you're no Ronald Reagan", Conservatives would be cheering like mad. You'd have no problem with it then. Hypocritical.
mnmcv1 1 year ago
@mnmcv1 I don’t think you understood where I was coming from. I was pointing out that Quayle’s comparison was ONLY speaking of experience and time served in the political arena. He wasn’t trying to say he and Kennedy were in any way alike other than that! And that, my dear liberal friend, is why Quayle should have spoken up saying that he’s proud to NOT be a Jack Kennedy! So please, YOU spare me!
StevenSWM 1 year ago
@StevenSWM Quayle didn't win the debate, just the election. You don't need to be good at debates or at your job to win an election.
And Quayle was comparing himself to Jack, even if it was just the experience factor ... hence Bentsen pointed out he was no Jack Kennedy. You are bringing up a moot point, Bentsen never said that Quayle said he was exactly the same as Jack either.
Lerakon2 1 year ago
StevenSWM 1 year ago
@StevenSWM You actually failed to grasp my point, it doesn't matter if Bentsen was referring to his experience factor or not. You are putting meaning into something that is ambiguous. Bentsen could have simply been using the opportunity to state how much worse Quale is than Jack that they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. I am not agreeing or disagreeing with that myself, just pointing out that your logic fails.
And the election wasn't won because of this debate, sheesh.
Lerakon2 11 months ago
@Lerakon2 Long ago, Benjamin Franklin said it so well, "You cannot argue with an idiot." And that's the only place my logic is failing me here! You're very statement that Bentsen was simply using the opportunity to state how much worse Quale is than Kennedy proves what I've been trying to get across to you dummies! Yes, that is exactly what Bentsen did, rather than correctly addressing the issue that Quayle was making! And I'm guessing you still don't get it...just like Bentsen didn't.
StevenSWM 11 months ago
@StevenSWM And you still fail to understand my point. *golfclap*
Lerakon2 11 months ago
And I'll give you a hint: Your point originally that Quale's comparison was only the experience factor is irrelevant to Bentsen's comment.
And really would Quale even bring that up if he disliked Kennedy? He was comparing himself to Kennedy to make himself look better, if you can't see that then you're looking through biased glasses.
