  • It was only a 4th set tiebreaker and a fifth set at the French Open final away from being a calender Grandslam year for Fed in 2006.

Not many remember that the French Fed-Rafa final in 2006 was really close: 1-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-6.

That was probably the closest French open Fedal final until 2011: 7-5, 7-6, 5-7, 6-1.

Anyway his record in 2006 was an astounding 92-5. He won Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open, The Year-End Championship, Indian Wells, Miami, Canada, Madrid, Tokyo, Halle, and Basel!

  • 0:55 fed impersonites rafa

  • Tru highlight of this tournament was Baghman's girlfriend.

  • This 2006 Aussie Open was one of Federer's toughest slams to win, he had to beat Tommy Haas in 5 sets, Nikolay Davydenko in 5 sets, and almost went down 2 set to none in the final, but he pulled it out.

  • @MrTibbsLive He beat Davydenko in four sets 6-4, 3-6, 7-6(7), 7-6(5).

  • @pb509 And what about Steffi Grafs golden Grand slam? Noone other has it.

  • Goderer!

  • Who is the tallest Tennis player?

  • @TheLeilisa Used to be Karolvic but currently its probably Isner

  • @khemistryy It is still karlovic he is 2.08 metres tall while Isner is 2.06 metres tall.

  • @TheLeilisa Ivo Karlovic

  • Career-defining moment at 2:41

  • 3:57 WOW That's a crazy racquet acceleration in that backhand!!!!

  • this match is a prime example of why i used to say i loved seeing federer in a bit of a hole - it was facinating watching him work his way out of it. nowadays though, once hes in a hole, rarely will he find a way like just a few years ago. great match, magnificent to watch.

  • check out the video by "rustytennis"

exact same video MUCH better quality!!

"federer vs baghdatis 2006 australian open final"

  • 0:40 NADAL BUTTPICK HAHAHAH

  • @jamesriadi23 :57 too

  • @jamesriadi23 except nadal does it every single point . haha gross

  • wow 4yrs already since this match. baghdatis is no longer top player. i remember he had a super hot gf during this tournament.

  • @sonytennis2009

He had 2 serious injuries on his hand and leg! I think its only natural that he loses his top position.

But now he is back on top shape and he won the Sydney tournament 2 days ago and now he is ready for the Australian Open. He won 17 of his last 18 matches i think too.

He is gonna be as tough as ever.

He beat Leyton Hewit just like that 3 days ago!

This year we will see the Old Marcos for his comeback!

  • at link soul2.i agree with you. by mistake -1 :P

  • what is that on his foot, is that a ankle support?

  • Today I saw the horrible injury Marcos suffered at the Ordina Open in Den Bosch, The Netherlands.. It is such a shame that a great talent like Marcos has been so unlucky with injuries the past years. I hope to see him on the court again soon.

  • what injury did he suffer? any videos?

  • he came awefully close to a grand slam year in both 2006 and 2007...made all 4 finals, winning 3, and taking a set 6-1 from nadal in 2006 RG final, and 6-4 in 2007 final...

  • I love the way Federer makes you think hes out of the point then he'll produce sumfin magical

  • the best video of the final aus open 2006!

  • bagdatis looks like arab,

  • Federer such a consistant performance with such placement and power. Great game to watch. Good video clip.
