@TheSyntethicSound which is why i love hardware over software, being able to physically touch and say, heres the instrument itself is a great feeling :D
Too bad PPG Wave went out of business, as the ony survivng digital keyboard manufacture in the early 1980's was Kurzweil, but later was bought out by Young Change. Yamaha was so successful the FM sythnsis technology, it was not until the late 1980's that they started applying digital sampling technology with AWM technology. (Advance Wave Memory)
@patsaxon Waldorf brought it further with the Blofeld synth though. It has the same synthesis and many of the same wavetables, plus tons of extra stuff like effects and many filter types.
@BleakAutumnMist Indeed, there is ppg Wavesim from Hermann Seib, which includes this waveterm aswell. It's a pure emulation made by the guy who designed the OS for the old PPG Waves. 1:1 copy of everything.
Also the Waldorf PPG Wave 3 softsynth, but it doesn't have the same layout as the real PPG, or the waveterm C.
Just fantastic RS. Nice video :)

What's the difference between the Waveterm A and the PPG 2.3 keyboard?
burns46824 5 months ago
@burns46824 The Waveterm is the heart of the PPG system and based on an old german computer called Eltec Eurocom II with Motorola 6809 processor.
- creation of Waves and Wavetables fo rthe Wave 2.2
- fourier analysis / resonator
- additive synthesis
- 8 bit Sampling for the WAVE 2.2
- sequencer / event generator
- storage of sounds on 8" disc
retrosound72 5 months ago
@retrosound72 Oh, so you can't make sounds on the keyboard without the Waveterm system?
burns46824 5 months ago
@burns46824 yes sure
