His career had already changed music throughout the East and with Zilch he was going to reach the West. imo Manson seems to kinda be to one borrowing from hides image. Ive been a fan of both artists for a really long time. Also as far as shocking, Manson's is only gonna come off as shocking to someone who lived under a rock during the 80s XD And I think hide just liked to have fun with his look. @HotKukuro hide and Manson were actually friends so yeah around the time hide died and a bit before he did borrow from him a lot honestly. He probably also did in years to follow. If you look in his interviews and stuff from 1998 he dyed his hair similar to hide's instead of making his bright pink with black underneath his is red with black underneath and styled about the same sort of a homage to him. Zilch and Manson were actually supposed to tour together all those years ago ^_^

I dunno; both artists had solo careers that sparked around the same time, but I really don't think hide was influenced by Manson... the japanese have been doing this sort of music for a long, long time... it's called "visual kei".
