I kept hearing people talking about this great television series out of the U.K. (I'm in Louisiana in the States). Bought the dvd and was stunned by the quality of this show. Maggie Smith stands head and shoulders above a dozen or so brilliant performances. She is absolutely hilarious.
"I always thought this room looked rather dark when my mother in law lived here...but then again.. she made everything look dark. hahah!" line said by the Dowager Countess of Grantham. XD I love Maggie!
This is priceless, how emberassed and grounded Maggie is hearing those lovely words which express exactly how I feel about her, that suprised look 0:22 "no kidding?" you have to love that lady!
I am enjoying 'Downton Abbey' very much and find it fascinating from an Enneagram (Personality Profiling System) 'point of view'. In celebration of the series, I have made a video. Do please check the video out :)
@PurpleRain1994 of course not :D they are good friends but they where joking coz they hate each other in downton. i think they have been in a few theater productions since then.
The interaction between these two as the Dowager Countess of Grantham and Mrs. Crawley is absolute comedy gold. They are absolutely spectacular, as is the show "Downton Abbey"!
A friend sent me the DVDs with the 7 episodes of series one.
I have always been in awe of Maggie Smith but, frankly, she's outdone herself this time. Bravo, Dame Maggie (from an admirer in Brazil - and yes, we are ungallant enough to die in houses that are not ours from time to time).
That was adorable! Maggie Smith has certainly earned the experience of a fellow actor telling that she's her heroine to her face. She's one of mine too, I have to say.
