Our choir performed this yesterday - and I have uploaded our version! I used this recording as an inspiration (I'm the piano accompanist). Thank you! =)
amazziiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng I look for this to . ... but still I prefer the long version of TErry wey ... of someone have a video of him singing this .. and of GOOD qualitiy.. please make sure you let me know .. I search for that piece serveral time now ! :(
the colours of janet baker´s voice do suit so ingeniously to the choir and the piano,so nice embedded.her voice, strong and metallic but velvety at the same time.
Awesome - a great performance I hadn't heard before of one of my favorite Schubert pieces... also fun to read along w/ the score. Thanks much for posting this - I'll have these harmonies in my head for days!
In using the different colors of her voice according to the text, Dame Janet Baker makes this lied a perfect musical moment. The pianist unfortunately is not in the same path of finesse. Thank you for posting this great video !
Thank you! I have a record from high school of a boy's octet performing this with a wonderful soprano in our choral program. I have no way of listening to my recording-this one is sublime.
Funny how you can listen to a different composer and be compelled to look for another work that is similar in style. In this case, it was Duparc.
I've decided to be part of youtube only because of magical moments such as this one. I have to -- I must -- thank you for posting this video. It just makes me feel so good. I feel like dancing in my kitchen while I do the things around!
You're welcome! I searched for a clear copy for long time myself. Thanks to IMSLP, I was finally able to make this video. Both versions of the score are available on IMSLP.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for this post. Baker is divine. This is a rare work, unless I've just missed a lot. I've only heard of one performance in my whole life. I wasn't aware Dame Janet had made this recording, though it doesn't surprise me.

Thank you for posting this sublime example of Dame Janet's astounding
art! Simplicity, beauty, profound under-
