you can get a store bought one for 5 bucks, incased in rubber and plastic, at radioshack...much smaller, video of one being attacked by my dog in my house, no damage done to it at all after repeated claws and bites...lol

To make these types of bristle-bots work better, you need to bend the bristles in the direction of forward travel. You can put something REALLY heavy on it and bend the bristles so they warp after a few days or so. That will make the bot work better. (you can also try heat (iron), but BE CAREFUL)
