  • Could this song be talking about Jesus dying for us on the cross, and when he says he is afraid of what he will find, behind his stone (e.g all the sins he has done).

And 'thats how this grace thing works'. The grace he is talking about, is the grace of God forgiving our sins through Jesus? Also, the welcome he receives with a restart = people have new life in Christ when they ask Him into their hearts

  • this is my favorite song right now!

  • their music really amazes me, I can't listen without day dreaming or hay dancing!!

  • Cassandra Clare brought me here. That is all.

  • Am I the only one who got really excited when they made a reference to Macbeth?

  • woohoo

  • I totally dint buy a case of beer and proceed to listen to this song over and over again for 30 min straight.... o wait............

  • This blew my mind away.... that is very rare on my account.

  • I have this stange feeling the I was irish in a past life.

  • Rango brought me here, and the fact that I love this band :)

  • 0:50 if that was playing in a PACKED tiny pub in ireland that sounds like heaven

  • @yhwh567 aye mate

    Slainte agus eirrin go brach

  • @yhwh567 hahahahahaha thats funny because thats exactly what i was picturing

  • TheFryersmuck**

  • no mr.fryrsmuck comment thank god that person freaks me out

  • tis good yah...?

  • LOVEEE!!!

  • I find it insulting that this song plays in clothing stores. It deserves so much better than that.

  • I rape the replay button. i don't see myself getting sick of this song. It plays at work at Hollister (in the stock room)

  • all i imagine when i hear this is frodo and sam playing this on a little porch

  • What is this song about? We each have a hole and fill it with various things to make us feel whole, but we need to "roll away our stone" or be open with each other to experience love. Or perhaps our weaknesses is the place where God shines through and closing them is shutting God's window into the world.

  • @SamHakes if you need to find God, listen to Nirvana. which is good music. which won't help you find God (thhank God). God God God God God.

btw mumford and sons is boring sub-par folk music and you can find better really easily by actually looking instead of just turning on your radio. or if not throw on some Flogging Molly instead of listening to a song that slavishly emulates Irish folk in the intro

  • @mockdisaster I agree their music is interesting, but hard to find God in. Teen Spirit for example: “It's fun to lose and to pretend... With the lights out, it's less dangerous, Here we are now, entertain us...” and at the end of course “A denial!” Sounds like he's keeping his stone securely in front of his hole. God works when we come to terms with and admit our weaknesses, not when we try to cover them up or be come extremely pessimistic and blame others for covering up theirs.

  • the eight people who disliked this have smaller penises than the dislike bar

  • @TheSuperswordmaster Stop polluting Youtube with dislike and dick jokes. Listen to the music and when appropriate post things worth reading.

  • love it

  • AMAZINGGGGGGG What God given talent !!!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOOO

  • Poor replay button...

  • 8 peoples heads exploded when these geniuses played this song. As their headless bodies slowly fell to the ground, they each fell on their cat whom jumped 10 feet in the air landing on the computer mouse and clicking the dislike button.

    Tragic really.

  • @joman33333

The other three were just really pissed off cats.

  • @joman33333 No... Mastodon is want makes your head explode. This makes you have an aneurysm if you don't like folk music. Mumford is okay... Foo Fighters are better.

  • @TNTIV the styles are different you cannot compare them although if you are speaking of skill in their instruments then yes mastodon is better although they are different and should not be compared

  • "I say all my bridges have been burned, and you say that's exactly how this grace thing works." Love it! So true!

  • wrong idiots Australia is a continent Australasia refers to the region now listen to the song

  • this is the kind of music that gets me through tough times

  • that intro gives me goose bumps every time i hear it.

  • when i hear this song......the movement starts in my toes then slowly moves to my entire body:)

  • @handsofstone21 Australia is a continent not an island.

  • @0Anesthetic4u Australia is a country not a continent. Australasia is a continent.

  • @caramelapps last I checked Australia is the only thing on Australasia. That makes them one and the same in my book, and therefore synonymos.

  • Thomas, this is for you. And together we can see what we will find.

    incredible words! thank you Mumford!

  • Love how everyone has a geography debate over the UK. If you're not from here, and you didn't learn it in school, Google it. All you need to know is, we're the best Island on Earth ;)

  • Wow, can anyone spell Britain right?? and for that matter Wales!!!

  • Old Navy.

  • Really amazing band, really amazing song. Although, I'll always wonder why they put part of "Merrily Kissed the Quakers Wife" at the beginning... Trying to make some connection here? Doesn't fit with the rest. Really, really amazing song, though. Best sound ever... Everything is better with a banjo! :D

  • It's funny, I hear this on the radio almost every day, and I'm listening to it again on here.

  • @mikethe4th what station?

  • @lilsister2 94.7 Sacramento, CA

  • @mikethe4th aww damn. lucky you.

  • I was drving with my mom through a beautfiul neighborhood and this came on, I FOUND it!! <3

  • When the banjo kicks in my legs automatically start moving.Peace.

  • Dear Bank:

You, you've gone too far this time, you have neither reason nor rhyme, with which to take this home which is so rightfully, MINE.

  • It's to this song that I enjoy lighting up a nice bowl of tobacco, looking off at the hills and dreaming of middle earth.

  • @AppsNCaps Weirdo. I drink a nice craft beer and look at the ocean.

  • @ShitMyCatsOnFire To each their own, I too enjoy a hardy micro-brew.

  • @ShitMyCatsOnFire So you either drink and look at the ocean or smoke tobacco and look for middle earth

  • @AppsNCaps A "bowl" . . . Of tobacco?

  • @AppsNCaps replace tobacco with bud and your good;)

  • @AppsNCaps

same here. only i got that wacky tobacy

  • @AppsNCaps i enjoy lighting a bowl of weed better, it just feels so great

  • Mumford and Sons are an enlightening sound one that penetrates your soul and sings to you causing you to feel as if they are a memory from some distant summer far in the past. They speak to you telling you what you need to hear That's why I love them and why you should as well.

  • get it up you

  • The 5 dislikes are the sisters.

  • I didn't know people from england wear or use tartan.... yet it's in the picture hmm

  • My friends and I were on a road trip to Santa Cruz for a weekend and it was 1 in the morning and this song came on and we stopped in the middle of a country road, turned the music up, got out and danced in the headlights :) and then another car came...

we filmed it too. Maybe it'll be on YouTube someday.

  • @Onefleshabiding16 ah ha ha, what a story mark

  • @Onefleshabiding16 That's awesome. :)

  • The top two comments aren't even on the song? Really? Sit back and enjoy the music. This song should be enough to make you stop bickering.

  • @IAmTheNoodleFish How ironic :)

  • Thumbs up if you heard this song in the Rango trailer.

  • 5 people have rectal blockage.

  • whateva u say ireland is tha best !

  • Funny thing happened on the way to some good music... a geography lesson broke out.

For whatever it's worth per wiki - The United Kingdom is a unitary state governed under a constitutional monarchy and a parliamentary system, with its seat of government in the capital city of London. It is a country in its own right and consists of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

  • this is irish more than scottish!!

  • who could dislike this?!

  • scotland ireland maybe but somebody said they were from wales and then said the u.k. isnt a country but a principality noooo the united kingdom is a country with the provinces of the "FORMER" countries of ireland scotland wales and britain !any idiot who took 5th grade social studies knows that.

  • Fun times, listening to great music!

  • i must say and i will say, theses people are just awesome... loving there music!

  • I must buy a banjo.

  • This song is so fucking good.

    Pardon my language, but WOW!

  • my favorite song of theirs

  • See how complicated we make things when we start arguing over petty things like where these brilliant musicians are from? It isn't worth the hassle. Let it go. Thanks very much.

  • Also "The Prince of Wales" was a title bestowed upon his son by Edward the first "Hammer of Scots",his own choice of character, as an Insult to the actual Welsh. The English are lucky to be surrounded by such forgiving people such as all of the best the world has ever known. Don't worry you're accepted englishes cause the blue bloods are just celebrities now so join us all and stop your whining you pansies. That felt good.

  • @irishMarchHare I've met loads of friendly Irish people and they're some of my closest pals now. But ive also met nobs like you who have an un-justified hatred of english people. I'm from the north east of england, about two thirds of my family lost their jobs under thatcherism when the mines closed down. I'm guessing possibly some of your great great great grandparents who you probably didnt even know suffered under british rule. That explains your anglophobia basically yer? Move on mate ;-)

  • Cheers to these west Anglos, but Yes the Scottish are finer and braver

  • It doesnt matter where they are from, the music is good.

  • @Backwardsfromten Actually to be a Principality, you need a Prince- So only Wales is.... but as you say- not that it matters :)

  • love the bluegrass

  • :(

  • This is some of the first timeless music I've heard come from this century.

  • Man, the line "for I'm afraid of what i will discover" throws me every dang time. I suppose that's one way to keep the music fresh.

Love the song by the way, not saying anythings bad.

  • Why the HELL is this song "forbidden from being played in a playlist"?! So much for my Mumford and Sons playlist. Good lord. Copyrights these days...

  • oh just shutup, not mumford and sons, all you you dumb people arguing about where they live

    \

  • who cares where they're from?? their music is epic!!

  • This is real music right here! Man I love this band.

  • who cares where they are from. They make food music

  • @bpdp2032 lol. food music ikr.

  • @bpdp2032 "They make food music"

I genuinely rofl'd, thank you good sir.

  • gunsanadanks. Your use of words does not help anyone. The music where ever it comes from is what this is all about. The traditional music elements of this group

strikes a chord with many people. I consider myself to be Scottish and would be happy for independence, but it would not change my taste in music. Live and breathe the music.

  • too much love for the photo at 2:24 honestly what music should be about, talk about one picture tells a story

  • These guys are pretty amazing. People mistake them for an Irish group because their sound DOES resemble Irish trad quite a bit - which is amazing!

  • Darkness is a harsh term, don't you think~?

    That's such a beautiful sentence

  • I'm from the US and i hate how we keep churning out Miley Cyruses and Beibers and Katy Perrys. It's up to you Europe, to keep music alive through artist like Muse, Mumford and Sons and Ellie Goulding!

  • @sonjo18

    Biebs is Canadian.

  • @ChachaChapati i love how that dumb fuck beiber is on every FUCK VIDEO THAT HAS MUSIC! this is a completely different genre of music that has noting to do with him

  • @mojo32aots5

    tell that to sonjo18.

  • In my opinion, this is probably their most empowering song. It makes me want to play the banjo and dance around in my seat.

  • Love the Shakespeare reference.

  • This has to be one of my favorite songs of theirs...

It if wasn't for Mumford and Sons & Kings of Leon, I'd have given up most hope for music....there's just no talent or skill required anymore. This band is a serious rarity now and days

  • This song makes me feel like God.

  • Mumford and Sons: The only band ever to make the banjo SOUND EPIC.

  • @LandSharkProductions You obviously need to hear some Béla Fleck.

  • Why the fuck is Lady Gaga in the suggested videos on the right??? Anyone who likes Mumford and Sons, would not lower themselves by listening to that garbage.

  • this is one of the best bands in the hole world. No doubt about it. Raw and pure talent.

  • Mumfors and Sons you guys are the Shit!!!

  • For everyone out there ranting about The UK...

    England

    Wales

    Scotland

    Northern Ireland

Hope that helped the retards out there.

  • @gunsandtanks Haha well said

  • 2:53 as it leads up to 3:04.....EARGASM!

  • You know you've found a true artist when you can relate to or are inspired by every song you've heard by them.

  • One of my favorite songs ALL TIME!!!!! It pretty much encapsulates my sentiments towards life. I can't wait for these fine young lads to make another Album. I love Mumford & Sons!!!!!

  • This is a response to WHAT THE HELL NOW?

  • What the hell is a Bairn?

  • @sirjasonman A kid (son/daughter).

  • i love irish music

  • @jooblies1221 their english (Y)

  • Why do people keep saying there from Scotland or Ireland... they are definitely from West London. Its on their own bio page on their website.

  • @lairyleroy87

    3 people like their stone!

  • @lairyleroy87 on this song, in particular, the opening tune is actually from an irish folk tune, so that might be part of it... but i don't know. xD.

  • @lairyleroy87 i made that mistake i just spent 4 years in ireland and it sounds like an irirsh accent if im not mistaken lol maybe im crazy tho

  • @lairyleroy87 They keep saying that because they're assholes who associate Ireland and folk or country music with being "white trash".

  • @lairyleroy87 either way they're british. sence the (i guess you can call them) provences are so close and even though there has been war and rivalry some of the culture blends together. for example this song sounds like it has a celtic origin

  • Three people don't want to roll away their stone.

  • Any-one else hear the start and think "What is this, maybe he mis-titled, ooh a new Mumford and Sons song!"
