I dont think so. This interview is almost as close to the realistic Frost.nixon interview that happened in 1977. Also a recent interview between Gujarat chief minister Narendra modi and Karan thapar , had some nostalgia from this movie. So its not a typical tamil movie as you had quoted above. Infact this scene is as close to reality.!!

@kashokece Narendra Modi's Interview by Karan Thapar and nixon's interviews were 'intense' not stupid.No host would be allowed to ask questions like this.They have a pre-defined set of questions which are supposed to be asked, and given to the interviewee.If the hosts can ask questions they wish then no politician would agree to be interviewed.Even a baby would understand that haha.The interviews mentions above had CONTROVESIAL questions which were already given to the guests. hayyooo hayyoooo

hmmm...not really. Frost/Nixon interview happened for 3 days. The last day of the interview between Nixon and frost, Frost posed a few surprising questions to Nixon on Watergate controversy issues(Refer google for conformation) which Nixon wasn't aware and he was put up in a situation, where he has to answer the question right there irrespective of being a recorded conversation. He could have escaped without answering, but that might have damaged his reputation even furthur.

Infact in this scene, When raghuvaran tries to finish up the interview intially, and then sits back and answers the question back to safeguard his reputation shows a normal expected behavior , which again to me is close to reality.As far as the Narendra modi interview with Karan thapar is concerned, NO, the questions were not given to the guests before (again you can google and confirm it). You can correct me if im wrong, but Im positive on that.

I don't think Rajini is good for this. the reason is he cann't act real, what ever movies r coming based on Mudhavan , ex( Sivaji the bose).So no need of thinking for this role . Better think about Arjun the future lead how to make real and become normal which means to reach bottom of poor life .

@willcallable i agree. in fact rajini was approached for this role but i think he turned it down. i am glad that he did, otherwise this movie would have been politically controversial. the focus would be on rajini's political ambitions rather than the problems and aspirations of the common man, which is what this movie is about.

@martiantraveller in fact, i've heard there were problems before its release due to raghuvaran's resemblence to karunanidhi. In the 90s, only Shankar had the courage to expose the ugly side of corruption and caste-based/reservation politics. Now he's lost that touch

Lordvisionz... yeah Anniyan had HOPLESSLY CRUDE fight scenes... but the ACTING,the CONCEPT and SCREENPLAY made up for the CRUDE fight scenes... jus because a movie has STUPID fights doesn't make it shit... Anniyan had an unusual theme,GR8 acting..very nice screenplay.. it portrayed Multiple Personality disorder really well..!!!

1)the fight scenes were not crude, just dumb and mockable.

2)vikram is a good actor, yes. Rest are all amateurs. Try watching good American indie movies. They get made at 1/10th the budget of anniyan but everyone in the movie do a better job than even vikram.

3)It doesnt exactly have an unusual theme, it was a good one.

4)The screenplay was no way good. It was totally laughable. Shankar's screenplay is way too cheesy and stupid. Watch some Satyajit Ray's or Deepa Metha's or Kamal Hasaan films.

I like hindi better too. I find this version too dull. Even the background score was way more enhanced for Nayak. Not the mention the studio and sets. Watch the interview set in Nayak. It's way better. This version seems so quiet and boring for some reason. Plus, who can act better as a Villon than Amrish Puri?? NAYAK ROCKS!!!!
