in my english class we always watch a little bit of the bbc movie after we do our weekly chapter wrap ups. my teacher found this version on netflix and decided to try this one out instead for the day. None of us ( even my teacher) saw it and my whole class was like WTF xD when watching it it was hilarious! We thought he wasn't wearing pants xD
This is suppose to be a job interview? Who would even interview such terrible actors to star in this movie for real? I wonder how weird that must have been? People that act so weird don't get hired for movies and people don't become professional directors and producers that would put together such ultimate trash and think there's nothing wrong with it.My best guess is that this was done by a group of criminal pornographers attempting a "real" movie for their 1st and only time never to try again.
Do yourselves a favour and watch 'The Innocents' (1961), which is the first movie made from this story. Martin Scorsese has called 'The Innocents' one of the most effective thrillers ever made.
@HeathenLoveGod The Innocents is by far the best but I do like this new take on it...even though it's a bit out there sometimes. It's actually not the worst version I've ever seen.
I am a big fan of this movie I just watched the orther version with Colin Firth. The Pasty Kensit version is a lot better. Its too bad there isn't more Pasty Kensit
@TheNaomiengland This is definitely one of the better modern day takes on it. I firmly believe that TOTS does not work in the present day but this works because they set it in such a way where it is atmospheric and believable. I've seen other versions where they just completely ruin it (In a Dark Place... *cringes*)
Oh yeah, I'm enjoying it (& Julian). I like Patsy Kensit, too; she did a good job in the "Lethal Weapon" movie she was in as well. She's a very attractive woman, & I like the chemistry between her & Sands. Too bad they haven't done anything else together (at least not that I'm aware of). I'm a nanny so things like TOTS kinda tend to catch my eye, lol! I really would enjoy watching the entire movie, though.
@LilithComplex1 Great. :) While I can't upload the movie, you can purchase the vhs tape via an amazon third party or ebay. There are often copies of it floating about.
Wow..I will have to watch this version...it looks like it was filmed using Stanley Kubrick's distinctive artistic style and method...was he the director by chance? Thanks for posting! 5*****'s
Yeah this version is awesome and you are quite welcome. Actually, this film was directed by someone named Rusty Lemorande who I jokingly have dubbed, "Rusty Lemonade."
hmm wikipedia says little about the story. I guess its just me, but it appears that this story does not have a very supernatural slant. Then again, I haven't watched it. The dialogue seems to be pretty good though.
The story is ambigious. You can take the supernatural route: yes, there are ghosts and they have corrupted the children or the ghosts are just in the figment of the governess' imagination. There are other clips in this movie that show more of the supernatural...depending on which way you want to view the film.

Oh totally Colin Firth but Julian Sands gives a unique spin to the role I think. He's such a hippy!

Good clip there. That guy used to be in a lot of early 90's movies. Wonder what happened to him.

Yes he was in a ton of films. I believe he's still acting.
