Anyway, the Cutlass looks like a sportier, more youthful car. This has a design that seems more formal and luxurious and would appeal to an older demographic.
my dad picked up a 1981 Lebaron with the Police Interceptor package from the county auction when i was teenager,we took the lean burn computer crap off of it ran a regular dist. and had dual exhaust put on Holy Crap that car was fast It had a 318 with humungous carter 4 BBl carb and a stock chrysler (made by Off.) hi-rise intake positrac dana rear and huge fron and rear stabilizer bars talk about a sleeper.I loved that car. LOL
If the Plymouth Volare (in which these iterations of Chrysler Le Barons were based on) had design similarities from both the 2 Door Coupe and 4 Door Sedans to its unrelated competitor the Chevrolet Nova, then this redesigned Chrysler Le Baron also both the 2 Door Coupe and 4 Door Sedans now very much resembled its competitor the Mercury Monarch especially the 2 Door Coupe.
I have a Fifth Avenue, basically the same car with a body change. and trust me, it doesn't even get past 18MPG highway, and considering the times, even then 25 would have been horrid
Entertainer Joe Santos from "The Rockford Files" fame appeared in this commercial for the 1980 Chrysler LeBaron. Timeless Classic!! And how we miss our renowned Chrysler-Plymouth advertisements from the 1970's and the 1980's. A Fat 6!
Lol It's Dennis from the Rockford Files. The Olds Cutlass was the top selling midsize car from the mid 70's to the mid 80's. The Olds coupes were better than the Chrysler, but only an idiot would buy a 4 door car with back windows that didn't roll down (damn GM bean counters). Blame the weasel accountants for ruining the build quality of American cars in the 80's, and not just the lazy union workers.
He is a dead ringer to George Costanza!

Anytime you see a commercial like this go buy the product they're desperately trying to get you not to buy. I'm serious do it.

Look at it. I'm glad I was able to spare my eyes the ugliness and instead was able to revel in the beauty of the Oldsmobile Cutlass.
Plus, I'm a fan of GM's '80s design and the success of Oldsmobile during that time.
