i just got mine from a previous owner just a month ago. she is a attention hog though! if i walk out of the room, she would start screaming!! but, she is a very pretty birdy~!any tips though on how to stop the screaming when i leave the room?
I have a Golden Cape Conure that i got from a friend. he is not friendly really at all. I can get to to step up everyonce in a while but its rare.. He will probably never be friendly.. I dont know if im right but some birds just arent tameable:(
Asking a bird to love you in such a short time is asking a lot. I have had my birds for a year (my budgie for longer) and they are still in the taming process. They don't freak out when I walk in the room anymore, but they don't mimic me either (they do mimic each other). Its just a process, and you have to love them unconditionally. If you don't really love them, you just want them to talk, you won't get far because you will get discouraged.
@xxNikkeh Ringnecks aren't fully mature until about 3 years of age and lots won't talk until then. You have to have patience. Try hand feeding treats, first from your fingers, later from your palm. It could take months or a year to teach the bird to trust you, but you have to love the bird unconditionally and be patient.
My ringneck has been recoreded by my wife when I leave the house. She does it to prove to me that the bird has continually screamed at her up to 96 time, one after another. She does say one thing, F-U, F-U and always at the right times that it's funny to me. I cover her, F-U, I say bye and go to leave, F-U, I don't give her what I am eating for dinner, F-U. I love my bird and I keep her close to me.
Well they usualy scream because of something, like hearing another ringneck voice, or calling for attention, mine dont scream so often if put inside the house, but if they are put outside they will scream more
No ive got a pair of macaws and they always do that. When i asked my friend he told it means they want more attention. But i sure do think i give them 24 hr attention.
haha ya they always seek attention, but leepo my male ringneck doesn't like it when I spend too much time with lovy, the same goes with lovy, they dont like each other though :(

I think its because you put the camera close to him- he doesn't like the camera, so he screams. But you have very cute birds :D

Do you have a dove? The sounds at 0:16 and 0:21 sound like ours.

i got a ringneck and the breeder told me it's 3 months old.
im trying to handtame it, NOTHING works.
and it gets worse everyday.
it doesnt even speak!
people have told me not to worry and that it will settle over time and come to me, but i highgly doubt that.
i see videos like these of lovely ringnecks, and i have a boring one at home. i dont even want it anymore.
anyone got any advice for me?
it would be very appreciated.
