He plays well but i feel like his interpretation is a bit basic i feel like its lacking the music behind it. He plays very well of course if he could play this but i dont think his dynamics are that quite good. but i think Yundi li has the best interpretation Of La campanella. his sounds sound more rich and and colorful.

His octave technique sucks. Notice how his shoulder tightens at 3:51, when he begins the repeated octave passage. It looks clumsy, and I doubt he can achieve much speed with such awkward playing.
Who are you to critisize techniques??? Haven't you seen Horowitz's "AWKWARD" fingers position?? He is who he is anyways and can play whatever he wants perfectly.. isn't it??? Great version of La campanella....

Check out this guys wife Valentina lisista. Altho he playes cool, I think she plays better because of the fact that she not only plays with her fingers but also with her body and facial expressions
i just love the vision behind his interpretations- So many unique ideas I've heard this piece played a million times by a million pianists, but he still manages to find a wealth of new, intriguing, and valuable ideas. Amazing! The mark of a true artist, indeed
This is definitely one of the best versions of this piece in youtube. I know how hard this is when you are playing it with so minor using of pedal. Just amazing!
Of course I know yundi Li's version, but it depends on what you prefer. I would say in this way it's harder than yundi Li's style. Kissin have kinda similar style than Koltakov.
I'm also learining this piece and my advice for you would be: try practicing those right hand leaps very slowly. Then try to do those leaps with your eyes closed. Then try to speed up little by little until you reach your desired speed.
@hhryundell hehe. ye, i was just amused by the advice you gaveD:. It will probably give them courage to try and practice some more, but sooner or later they will realize it still requires some work and practice:D. But the notation does have dots over the top note of the right hand, so yeah maybe by practicing opposite might get it easier, or it least it does sound that way. Basically it's about your wrists and whether or not your hands are big enough:D.
Good. But still, much away from Great. I personally like Horowitz's version the most.

Overall, it wasn't as good as I would have hoped. However, there were certainly many very good elements of playing throughout.

Try playing the leaps from the upper note, not the lower one. ;)
