omg wall clouds can sometimes be dangerous! but who cares! i don't i would love to do that well.. if my mom and dad let me! they are so afraid of me going in to a tornado infested area. and i believe you meant it WAS a wall cloud but then it changed to a supercell.
Actually, wall clouds are produced by a supercell's rotation; they are the base part of the storm from which a funnel cloud descends (FYI for next time). It already was a beast of a supercell and the rear flank downdraft was particularly nasty. It had 75+ mph winds and rain you could swim through. Also, this storm had some of the best and most vicious lightning I've seen in my life. Thank god there was no hail because it was my dad's car! Be safe, smart and keep chasing!
There was no tornado on my video. It was simply a funnel cloud (that is very hard to see on theis segment). I knew it was going to drop, and I only found out after I got home that there were unconfirmed reports of a touchdown not five minutes after I got out of there. I was saying "Thats a tornado" in the video becauce I was a bit jacked up from the thrill of being in a dangerous place and trying to drive, call it in and film all at the same time. If only I had a 2gb memory card I'd of had it.
But if you look, I was heading north so the auctual tornado would have been to my southeast, which is a bad place to be while in a vehicle. Also, the outflow side of this storm was really nasty. Easily the heaviest rain and hail I've been in. Thanks for your interest, though.
I'm so glad I found this! I was driving that day too, but up in Elmhurst. Kinda on purpose. Which I no longer recommend. WHY THE HELL WAS EVERYONE SLOWING DOWN THAT DAY!?! I laughed so hard when you started yelling at them to GO!! Craziest driving experience I've ever had. Thanks for taping<--(ha ha, just dated myself and not erasing it) yours!

Wow that was some fantastic video there and why don't you have phone service?
Unkownwatcher 3 years ago
I didn't have phone service because the tower for the area was down from the storm.
Or my phone sucks... either or.
