She is really good and so is he!!! Great fight!!!! I have to agree with russdawgusmc its a sad world we live in when a female beats a male in fighting...its like humiliation for the male
Shes really good, Great fight!! but i have to agree with russdawgusmc many people (especially guys) cant see past gender when it comes to strength and fighting.
Well my friend I am not sure how to take your comment, positive or negative. However, there is certainly some truth in that statement. If you do not want to chance getting your Butt beat by a female fighter, don't fight her.If you do and you get you butt whipped don't cry.Girls not would fight her so she beat guys, even a little older and bigger and she was just getting started here. But now that she is a National Champion we do not have to fight males any longer,we are off now to win again.FYI-TMS
Finally an offensive punch-punch-kick type of combination may also work, punch in the face then without a pause, kick into the guts. Right now she's doing punch-punch-pause-kick, ie, the kicks were reflexive rather than part of a combination of techniques. But any how, for one so young she's doing great.
I can find no disagreement with your astute observations. However, we have been training her so intensely and working on mostly very advanced material mainly. In this fight we wanted to get the aggressiveness out along with a more intense focus on attack. Our goal for the next fight is to combine some of these advance techniques, combinations, and also a very high priority will be her cardio conditioning, it will be quite different allowing her to maintain a sustained attack even longer.-TMS
Unless the roundhouse uses the "ball" of the foot to dig in, it does not usually have more than a "slapping" effect on the body. That's why he got in close everytime she kicked. If she could "sweep" then kick, or front kick then rounhouse to the head or body in a combination she may have caused even more damange.
On techniques, Cobra managed to land many kicks but they were all single kicks rather than combinations. She had a longer reach, she should've used what in karate is know as the Mae-geri, straight front kick. If she stands her ground and does that, the guy wouldn't have been able to reach her, also the damage to the body from a straight kick is usually more than the roundhouse kick on the body.
Some of the style you saw in this fight will change, however as for however, as for her round kicks if you look closely you will see that many were delivered with the ball of her foot into the "funnel" between the arms, this was very effective, but she still need a longer string together. In the next fight you should see a six point attack for instance.-TMS
Sure thing because she kicked him so many times. I think the decision is due to the fact that he seemed more aggressive, he was advancing all the time and he also had more aggressive looking hand techniques.
Thank you, for taking the time to comment, and especially for the words of encouragement. I agree with you about the kicks, especially if you have the range. As you no doubt noted she drilled this guy with this kick many times during the fight, he could barely stand there long enough to gather the "split decision" as he had to go to the rest room to let his guts out, he told me that she really had hurt him. She will take it to the next level Fight IV. How did you judge the "split decision"?TMS
The fact that he "looked" aggressive balanced out the fact that he was receiving most of the heavy blows from Cobra. The judges could not know how bad he was hurt unless he collasped in the ring, so on the surface it looked like a split decision with Cobra seeming to have only a slight advantage over him. If it was a 5 round affair, he might have been KOed.
You are correct since he outweighed her by about 30lbs, and his only thought was to get that one right hand big shot, she was correct to evade. Whee she went wrong was not putting together enough "strings" of combos as you observed.-TMS
Great fight. Note: Too much has been made of the roundhouse kick in recent years. The fastest kick is the straight middle-low front kick done with correct timing. Snap it into the opponent's body. Keep up the great work!
Rick, thank you for your comments, and yes this was her toughest challenge yet, and it was also her best performance yet too. We have been trying to get her to be more aggressive and let some moves fly. She certainly did that, it was a real turning point for her, and she still has never had a female opponent, it will be interesting when she does, I hope she will be able to be at the top rankings in her age/weight group by the end of the year-Thanks again for your time-TMS
she's gotta slow down a bit. she left herself open too much during those rounds.but she got her hits in. she needs to calm down, get defensive at times and try not to go crazy with hits (we all have that urge.) overall she did pretty good.
Thank you for your comment, and your right about the pacing, and she certainly did get her licks in. Giving away thirty lbs to an older stronger opponent, and he told me he was hurt. However, up to this point we had been working to get her to step up the aggressivity and she did that. Currently, she is working hard on cardio as well as more advanced movement and power, this was a tough fight but the most exciting of the night. Thanks again for your time-TMS
I just wanted to say as I always do that any and all positive comments or input is both encouraged and appreciated, as well as ratings if you wish. However, I wish I did not have to take the measure of approving the comments, but everyone is not so nice. Be assured that I as soon as I receive notification of a comment, I not only go to approve it, hopefully but also to respond to all, even if just to say 'Thank you". Thank you for your time and consideration, TMS and the"Cobra" too.
This was the biggest, toughest, oldest; male she has had to fight in the 3 fights so far. He was 30 lbs heavier and about three years older. We did not know who the opponent would be until just before the fight. She has really improved over these 3 fights posted here (in my humble opinion), and light years from the earlier sparring posted. After these six fights we hope to be ready for bigger challenges. Don't forget to watch the 3rd round to see who you think won and do you agree or disagree.-TMS

I know Cobra was retreating to maximise her range advantage, but it ends up looking also like the guy was attacking most of the time.
