Funny enough if a unconvicted priest is a paedophile Bush is a coke fiend. He has points of hypocrisy which could be looked at lacking fact. Libertarians against presumption of innocence. First one I have seen.
I agree, quoting is not plagerism. As for scientology, no, they pissed off the South Park dudes into doing it when they refused to defy the Viacom cowards. I think Trey Parker said something like "oh fuck that..." Yeah one about lawyers like how they go after the church, while leaving school boards and ice cream truck industry and Disney and all these other groups with Children and Paedophile with less cause to trust interaction depending on their M.O.
Will Penn & Teller ever have enough balls to make an episode about Scientology and really give the lawyers a chance to earn their money? Assuming of course that there is any bullshit in that cult.

I'm unsure on the aspect of quoting song lyrics in how it is legally suspect, but the way I see it is that by prohibiting it, is a violation of free speech, in the manner of expression. I see it as an arbitrary fear of the record companies of losing sales, or that by uttering the lyrics, you are some how stealing something, but as long as you credit it, would that not be admitting ownership to the company? It all seems unconstitutional.
Yes indeed, but clearly not yours or you would know it is unhelpful on this particular term (at least every spelling variant I could think of). If you know the answer, perhaps you would enlighten the class. If you don't, perhaps not commenting on this particular topic would be in order. Cheers.

The Government safety net is a myth! All I have ever qualified for is to pay in. Unemployment, disability, and union jobs = nepotism. So none of those institutions have benefited me. So why the hell would I want to continue paying for them? Corporate/banking regulations didn't stop Enron or most ponzi schemes until people had already lost their life savings. And now Billions in Bailouts none of which will benefit me but I will be expected to pay for them. I Prefer not to be a gov slave.
I dislike lawyers, not because they are bad but because there is a need for them. I'm currently under ~500Mb of laws (yes, I checked). I'm not even close to sure if I'm following all of it, even though I do try to do the right thing and obey them. That, to me, is silly. I think prior restraint should be moved to "prior reassurance" - having the right to at least ask "Is X legal" and get a legally binding response from the justice system rather then shoving your ass on the block for a test case.
I totally don't like party drugs and wish they were always used only for medicinal purposes. But I do agree with Penn that they all should be legal and it would solve many of our problems. The was on drugs is a joke. The drug cartels that are making bank and killing innocent people in the process don't want them legalized. Why cause they would be out of business.
Comparing drug use to child molestation. Wow. Putting drugs into your own body harms no one but yourself. Abusing a child harms not yourself, but someone else. Not even a fair comparison.
"Abusing a child harms not yourself, but someone else" - public decency is not a person. Its not proven or even plausible that every child that has sex is harmed, even if you use the common meaning of the word as in "believe he/she does not approve". The real meaning of harm, harming reproductive success, or reducing value to its owner has no obvious link to child abuse unless you fuck a girl so hard, her uterus is made barren or she dies or she is f ex a virgin sexslave/muslim.
oh! Sorry! We do... The Nu (Lie)bour Govt, Church of England, The Catholic Church but most of all, Islam which brings us right back to the Nu (Lie)bour Govt.
I've quoted your line from P&T Bullshit many times, the one that goes "Unless you and yours are starving, shut, the fuck, up." I couldn't possibly put it better myself.
dope and weed are bad for you though...so why should they be legal? why should smoking even be legal anymore as well as drinking. it doesnt progress a society what so ever -_-
Penn is referring specifically to the US. "Progressing a society" is the purpose of a socialist government. There are several to chose from. The US government is founded on the principle of protecting the individual from the tyranny of the majority. The exception to this is when the individual is causing others harm. Smoking weed doesn't cause others harm, except perhaps through side-effects of a black market, created by... the government. Besides, prohibition is unconstitutional.
Also just curious.. I know that Penn personally didn't delete comments from above that say comment removed by author. I would really like to know why they were deleted. Penn is a person who speaks for freedom of speech, doesn't that make him look bad when you don't represent his beliefs? why would you censor people? they might say the worst things in the world.....ok, why would Penn give 2 shits about it? who do you represent? money made from people just watching penn? or Penn?
i dont know for sure, but on some of my videos i had some ppl spamming, and when i clicked on 'spam' to hide it, for some reason it said 'comment removed by author' even tho i never removed it. also, i think we all know that penn isnt the real person who runs this channel. i mean, im sure he's in control of it, but i bet he has someone take care of it.
lol, wateva it is, im sure it was insignificant anyways..
Its sad that people need so many lawyers. People are to lawsuit happy, you should be able to say whatever you like...freedom of speech. Fuck the assholes who would go after you even if its a topic I disagree about. what the fuck
Lawyers wouldn't be necessary if we lived in a society where people didn't take stuff so seriously. While I can see why the P&T:BS lawyers decided what they did, but it shouldn't be like that.
As a musician I totally agree with the Sony lawyers. I don't want anyone quoting MY song lyrics which is why I have taken great pains to NOT record and sell thousands of CDs with the lyrics printed on little booklets inside. If I didn't take these preventative measures there's no telling how I could be grievously injured; people might LIKE my songs and then cruelly REPEAT them to their friends! How dreadful! That's why I have become a mechanic, so I can quote other people, not vice versa.
Everyone thinks that they aren't needed until you need one!
Lawyers are great when they are doing what they were intended to do: Protecting people from legal issues that they are otherwise ignorant of.
Lawyers suck monkey balls when they are doing what they WERE NOT intended to do: Covering the asses of people that knew they were wrong but could get away with it through some bullshit loophole.
why don't you make a video about how sony take young teenage kids to court and sue them for thousands and thousands of dollars for downloading a few mp3's
the point being they they use these kids to make an example out of them to try and scare all the real pirates that they cant catch. im sure your lawyers can tell you how much truth there is to that.
yea, it is illegal. and they do have a right to defend against it, but the point is they try to make an example out of some.
there are many cases of people that downloaded a couple hundred songs, yet they had the book thrown at them.
the reaction from sony is always excessive. and no, they dont go after the big ones. the ''big ones'' are the general public, so they get 1 or 2 kids, sue the living shit out of them, and hope it scares off others.
I agree in principle but not in practicality. The war on drugs is not working to stop drugs, but busting bad guys for drugs when you can't bust them for anything else is a hugs asset to police. I think it could use a little practical refinement, but I also agree that "When you are not able to put whatever you want into your body, then you are not living in a free country". Maybe someone smarter than me can find the middle ground.
That's all. Penn, you rock. You, and Gene Simmons.
It's great that Penn made the retraction about Bush, but there's so much misinformation and crazy myths being disseminated about everyone and everything nowadays that it doesn't seem like a huge deal in the grand scheme. Especially when it comes to Bush; there's mountains of crazy shit considered to be absolute truth out there. If Bush's lawyers were running around looking for people to sue for liable and slander, they'd die from exhaustion within a few hours.
TheAmazingAtheist, I would love to see some back and forth from TJ and Penn. Particularly on their views on society and libertarianism. I know Penn is a hardcore libertarian but he has a very bright out look on the world where as TJ's is rather dark.
Sony is the distributor... but what is there to distrubute? is there one pimple faced geek with a Sony jacket on that posts these videos on youtube? he's the distributor that Sony takes up 3 seconds of my life citing at the end of these videos?
Penn you've never smoked weed? Not once? Man your missing out man. I did assume you smoked at least one though. I guess I just figure most people have at least tried it, that and your a pretty liberated type of an individual.
I always quote Penn's comment from the ghosts episode. "Why do ghosts wear clothes? Shouldn't they be naked? Did there clothes die and come back from the dead too?"
I don't blame you for playing it safe on the legal front, but while Bush has never publicly admitted on record to using drugs, he's been quoted in a book saying he wouldn't answer questions about his drug use, because he didn't want kids to go out and use drugs that he's tried.
Not that it matters, anyway. The War on Drugs needs to end regardless of our Presidents' histories of drug use.
The most popular philosopher on Youtube is Stefbot, who's a libertarian, like Penn, but he is also an anarchist--a more philosophically consistent form of libertarianism.
I like to see my favorite philosopher get Penn to test his own philosophy and try to go all the way to the logical conclusions.
check out - Shanedk, he has a series called Bogosity which is like Bullshit (with less swearing and dirty jokes) and is cool
Debate - Uhhh, not sure. A) Big name youtube theists are general intellectual weaklings not worth bothering with and B) none deserve to have the experience of being personally contacted by penn jellette while many of his fans don't get that luxury

Penn is a libertarian. That's a right-wing position. So he would be debating against a liberal, not a conservative. Unless I misunderstood what you meant.
Libertarian isn't right wing or left wing its a separate position. Of course to a left wing person like yourself it appears right-wing but to a right wing-person it would appear left-wing.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
No. This stuff is defined and categorized by an entire discipline, political science. Yes, libertarianism has things in common with left-wing thought, but it is essentially a right-wing position. Of course, the political spectrum is actually a circle, not a line and when you go far enough in one direction you end up back on the other side. This doesn't change the fact that libertarianism is essentially a right-wing position as defined by the discipline that studies this area.
I will add, however, that I am not like this walterglanz guy and just because someone idealogically disagrees with me do I think they are some sort of evil conspirator. I don't agree with libertarianism, but I agree with in many other areas and I think he is a really nice guy. We just happen to disagree politically.
Hey cool! My friend Jennifer is good buds with Rich Nathanson. :) Small world.
I've actually got a quote from Penn on my quotes page on my blog-- a quote from a Penn Says video. I wrote it verbatim- glad to hear Penn's cool with all that.
Was gonna leave this alone, but considering what Penn speaks on mostly and his recent vid about 20/20 using bullshit in the name of their special-Penn should really check out TheoreticalBullshit.
Bah, something is just weird about watching these. I don't understand why it has to be so official - why can't Penn just vlog without the corporate sponsorship?

Penn drugs cant be legal, if we legalized drugs our society would fall and crumble. Drugs are for the weak minded people and unfortunately the majority of the population is weak minded.
and its people like you that give drugs a bad name. There are plenty of respectable, hard working people, who use marijuana and would not like to be in fear of getting arrested. Research the facts about why its illegal. I bought into the propaganda too at first.
Luke: People have used such arguments for alcohol in the past, while I personally don't use I wouldn't fight to make it so people couldn't use.
As a side note making it illegal really hasn't done much of anything except make it cheaper, more accessible to youths since dealers don't card, increased usage by percentage and costs us a few billion dollars a year. The fact is that making it illegal hasn't done anything but put a lot of non violent offenders in jail =P.
Yet it's perfectly legal for us to go to any bar in America and get drunk? The side effect of drink too much booze is TEN TIMES worse than someone smoking too much weed. The Neuro damage that alcohol does alone is worse than some one that has smoked weed most of their lives. Not to meantion the Liver damage, related kidney and Gastro damage. And that's something that has little to no medical benefits what-so-ever. The world will not end if we legalize Marijuana. Society will not fall.
Obama is better than Bush, it is a shame Bush didn't do some drugs. He could have explored himself a little more and maybe got a little valuable perspective. He's an asshole that attacked Iraq on a foundation of lies, costing the world over a million lives, and he has never apologized. I bet he did do drugs and just won't admit to it because he is fundamentally fake. Obama wrote his books, told the truth in them, and ended up being a man to respect. Bush won't be writing his own propaganda.
I agree with you completely. But I just wanted to add that Bush is known for being a drunk. More then once he got arrested for DUI's and would go for several years drinking and partying every night.
FUCK THIS.......I wanna watch it but on every fucking video there is An error ocured...FUCK THIS BULLSHIT

Only if you have no family or friends does this hold up.
Lamondra 2 years ago
"Abusing a child harms not yourself, but someone else" - public decency is not a person. Its not proven or even plausible that every child that has sex is harmed, even if you use the common meaning of the word as in "believe he/she does not approve". The real meaning of harm, harming reproductive success, or reducing value to its owner has no obvious link to child abuse unless you fuck a girl so hard, her uterus is made barren or she dies or she is f ex a virgin sexslave/muslim.

dope and weed are bad for you though...so why should they be legal? why should smoking even be legal anymore as well as drinking. it doesnt progress a society what so ever -_-
fantasticalNINJA 2 years ago
Penn is referring specifically to the US. "Progressing a society" is the purpose of a socialist government. There are several to chose from. The US government is founded on the principle of protecting the individual from the tyranny of the majority. The exception to this is when the individual is causing others harm. Smoking weed doesn't cause others harm, except perhaps through side-effects of a black market, created by... the government. Besides, prohibition is unconstitutional.

Also just curious.. I know that Penn personally didn't delete comments from above that say comment removed by author. I would really like to know why they were deleted. Penn is a person who speaks for freedom of speech, doesn't that make him look bad when you don't represent his beliefs? why would you censor people? they might say the worst things in the world.....ok, why would Penn give 2 shits about it? who do you represent? money made from people just watching penn? or Penn?

As a musician I totally agree with the Sony lawyers. I don't want anyone quoting MY song lyrics which is why I have taken great pains to NOT record and sell thousands of CDs with the lyrics printed on little booklets inside. If I didn't take these preventative measures there's no telling how I could be grievously injured; people might LIKE my songs and then cruelly REPEAT them to their friends! How dreadful! That's why I have become a mechanic, so I can quote other people, not vice versa.

Lawyers are like hitmen...
Everyone thinks that they aren't needed until you need one!
Lawyers are great when they are doing what they were intended to do: Protecting people from legal issues that they are otherwise ignorant of.
Lawyers suck monkey balls when they are doing what they WERE NOT intended to do: Covering the asses of people that knew they were wrong but could get away with it through some bullshit loophole.

this video is very transparent.
why don't you make a video about how sony take young teenage kids to court and sue them for thousands and thousands of dollars for downloading a few mp3's
the point being they they use these kids to make an example out of them to try and scare all the real pirates that they cant catch. im sure your lawyers can tell you how much truth there is to that.
its not a problem i have with you, just sony.
Sp00lDonkey 2 years ago
And?, it's their right.
I pirate myself, I don't think I've bought any MP3's, DVDs or games for a very long time, but I realize I'm taking a risk by doing it.
Sony produces content that they sell, and you take it for free - is that really something Sony should be just accepting?.
And I've never heard of any company suing the kids who download few MP3s here and there, they always go after the heavy users.
FluffyMuffinMan 2 years ago
yea, it is illegal. and they do have a right to defend against it, but the point is they try to make an example out of some.
there are many cases of people that downloaded a couple hundred songs, yet they had the book thrown at them.
the reaction from sony is always excessive. and no, they dont go after the big ones. the ''big ones'' are the general public, so they get 1 or 2 kids, sue the living shit out of them, and hope it scares off others.
they ruin peoples lives over it. and thats wrong
Sp00lDonkey 2 years ago

Penn is a libertarian. That's a right-wing position. So he would be debating against a liberal, not a conservative. Unless I misunderstood what you meant.

Pardon the political compass we use here in Sweden is a bit different.
But yea, I would like to hear his views against someone who is a lot more for authority than personal liberty.
falwk 2 years ago
Libertarian isn't right wing or left wing its a separate position. Of course to a left wing person like yourself it appears right-wing but to a right wing-person it would appear left-wing.
flux262 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Archaneus 2 years ago
I will add, however, that I am not like this walterglanz guy and just because someone idealogically disagrees with me do I think they are some sort of evil conspirator. I don't agree with libertarianism, but I agree with in many other areas and I think he is a really nice guy. We just happen to disagree politically.

and its people like you that give drugs a bad name. There are plenty of respectable, hard working people, who use marijuana and would not like to be in fear of getting arrested. Research the facts about why its illegal. I bought into the propaganda too at first.
snarfinllama 2 years ago
Luke: People have used such arguments for alcohol in the past, while I personally don't use I wouldn't fight to make it so people couldn't use.
As a side note making it illegal really hasn't done much of anything except make it cheaper, more accessible to youths since dealers don't card, increased usage by percentage and costs us a few billion dollars a year. The fact is that making it illegal hasn't done anything but put a lot of non violent offenders in jail =P.
garith21 2 years ago
